Observamos atentamente o fato de o “Currículo do Estado de São Paulo” propor como um dos seus objetivos “o deslocar daquele que ensina para o lugar daquele que aprende”. Neste contexto, identificamos a Educação Física no eixo temático “Linguagens, Códigos e Suas Tecnologias”. No campo específico, a disciplina teve como base o conceito de “cultura de movimento”, que avançamos por trocadilho com um novo conceito que denominamos “movimento da cultura”. Nosso referencial teórico de base foram alguns cursos ministrados por Michel Foucault no Collège de France nos anos de 1977-1978, 1978-1979 e 1981-1982, nos quais o filósofo francês nos ajuda a compreender os conceitos de “biopoder”, “biopolítica” e “cuidado de si”. Com estas categorias temos condições de apontar para o paradigma estético que Foucault identificou como “atitude moderna”. O “cuidado de si” é de extrema importância para que o educador possa ter cuidados consigo e também uma relação saudável com os outros, por isso ele é descrito com grande relevância em nossa pesquisa. O “cuidado de si” contribui para os educadores perceberem as armadilhas do mercado operando sobre o corpo, isso significa dizer que é possível inventar políticas de ruptura que multiplicam os possíveis na Educação e na Educação Física. Dessa forma, entendemos que não há nada acabado, portanto, o exercício do movimento nunca terá descanso / Here we show the results of the studies on the Body, the School and the Subjectivity Process. Previous issue date: 2007 / Resumo: Crianças com paralisia cerebral (PC) podem apresentar deficiências somatossensoriais nos membros superiores que somadas aos problemas motores repercutem no desenvolvimento das habilidades manuais e, por conseguinte, na capacidade de executar as tarefas de cuidados pessoais. Neste sentido, o presente estudo teve como objetivos avaliar a sensibilidade, função motora dos membros superiores e o desempenho funcional em autocuidado de crianças com paralisia cerebral do tipo diplegia espástica e verificar possíveis associações entre estas variáveis. A amostra do estudo é composta por dois grupos independentes de 30 crianças cada um, todas elas com idade entre 7 e 8 anos. As crianças com PC (GI) selecionadas são inscritas na Associação de Assistência a Criança Deficiente (AACD) e foram comparadas com crianças normais (GII) matriculadas em escola pública na cidade de São Paulo. Neste estudo transversal foram utilizados os testes de discriminação de dois pontos (D2P), localização do estímulo tátil (LET), estereognosia, qualidade da função motora dos membros superiores (QUEST) e o inventário de avaliação pediátrica de incapacidades (PEDI). Para comparação das variáveis pesquisadas foram aplicados o teste Qui-quadrado (comparação de proporções) e o teste de Mann-Whitney (comparação das medidas contínuas) demonstrando que os grupos apresentaram diferença estatisticamente significativa quanto à idade, dominância manual e status da sensibilidade, função motora e desempenho funcional. O GI foi composto por crianças em média 7 meses mais novas, que apresentaram com maior freqüência lateralidade manual esquerda e déficit em todas as áreas pesquisadas com exceção da LET. O teste de Wilcoxon para amostras relacionadas foi aplicado para comparação das medidas entre os lados direito e esquerdo indicando diferenças estatisticamente significativas nos testes de D2Pa (número de acertos) no GI e estereognosia (tempo) no GII. Para verificação da relação entre os testes de sensibilidade e os testes de função motora e desempenho funcional foi utilizado o coeficiente de correlação de Spearman demonstrando correlação positiva estatisticamente significativa entre a D2Pa e o desempenho funcional (PEDI) no GI e entre a D2Pa e a função motora (QUEST) no GII. Para verificar se as variáveis de sensibilidade predizem a função motora foi realizada a Regressão Linear Múltipla (identificação de um modelo preditivo para o desempenho motor - QUEST) indicando que para o GII os testes de sensibilidade empregados compõem um modelo regular (R²=0.5491) no qual se destaca a D2Pa. Para verificar se a sensibilidade e a função motora predizem a avaliação funcional também foi realizada a Regressão Linear Múltipla (identificação de um modelo preditivo para o desempenho funcional - PEDI) indicando para o modelo proposto um índice de R²=0.4569 para o GI, no qual a função motora e a D2P (tempo) foram as varáveis de maior relevância e R²=0.6350 para o GII com destaque também para a D2P (tempo). Desta forma, este estudo contribuiu para um maior conhecimento dos déficits de sensibilidade, função motora dos membros superiores e habilidades de autocuidado em crianças com PC assim como, a associação entre estes aspectos que poderá contribuir para abordagens terapêuticas que buscam desenvolver a capacidade destas crianças em usar as mãos nas atividades da vida diária. Palavras chaves: Paralisia cerebral, avaliação, tato, autocuidado / Abstract: Children with cerebral palsy can show somatosensorial handicap in fine motor skills and, in additional with motor problems, they may influence the development of manual abilities and the capacity to execute living daily skills. The objective of this study was to evaluate sensibility, upper extremity skills and performance in self care of children with spastic diplegia cerebral palsy, and to verify the relation among these variables. We studied two independent groups of 30 children each, age ranging from 7 to 8 years. The cerebral palsy children (GI) were selected at the Associação de Assistência a Criança Deficiente (AACD), and were compared with normal children (GII), all of them enrolled in a public school, both Institutions were in the city of São Paulo. In a sectional study, we used the Two-Point Discrimination Test (D2P), Localization of Tactile Stimuli Test (LET), Sterognosis, Quality of Upper Extremity Skills Test (QUEST) and the Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI). To compare the variables, we used the Chi-Square Test (to compare proportion) and the Mann-Whitney Test (to compare continuum measurement). The groups showed statistical significant difference related to age, motor function and functional performance. GI had children 7 months younger than GII, with more left handed children and deficits in all studied areas, except in the LET Test. The Wilcoxon Test was used to compare the relation between right and left sides, showing statistical significant difference in the D2P Test (number of correct answers) in GI and Sterognosis (time) in GII. To verify the relationship among the tests of sensibility, motor function and functional performance, we used the Spearman Rank-Order Correlation Coefficient, showing positive statistical significant correlation between D2Pa and functional performance (PEDI) in GI and between D2Pa and motor function (QUEST) in GII. To verify if the variables of sensibility can predict motor function, we used the Multiple Regression Line (identification of a predict model from motor performance-QUEST), showing that for GII, the sensibility tests used contains a regression line (R2 = 0.5491), emphasizing D2P. To verify if sensibility and motor function can predict functional evaluation, we used the Multiple Regression Line (identification of a predict model to functional performance-PEDI), showing that for GI, the model should be an index of R2 = 0.4569, and that motor function and D2P (time) were the most relevant variables and for GII, R2 = 0.6350, emphasizing D2P (time). This study contributed to a better knowledge of the deficits in sensibility, fine motor skills in children with cerebral palsy, and the correlation among them, contributing to a better rehabilitation model, aiming the development of these children in using their hands in daily living skills. Nurses constitute the foundation of America's healthcare system, and their roles are central to effective patient care in a variety of settings. Nurses are trained to give care and comfort to others. The purpose of this qualitative exploratory case study is to explore the experiences of registered nurses who take care of critically ill patients in telemetry units to gain a deeper understanding of how these telemetry nurses describe the self-care practices they employ to deal with the high demands of their job.
There exists a need to set in motion plans to preserve a healthy nursing workforce to care for America's aging population, now and in the future. Therefore, studying the well-being of telemetry nurses and how they care for themselves is crucial. Very little is known about how telemetry nurses manage their well-being through self-care practices. However, Duffy (2015) suggests this is important because "the secret of caring for patients is caring for our caregivers" (p. 5). The intent of the study is to gain a deeper understanding of the self-care practices employed by telemetry nurses and the real or perceived effectiveness of such practices. A deeper understanding of the phenomenon of “self-care practices” among this group of nurses may provide findings that allow nurse leaders, educators, regulatory agencies, and policy makers to design and implement the appropriate training, education, and environment needed to sustain a healthy telemetry nursing workforce.
The major finding from this study is this group of telemetry nurses’ self-care activity was primarily “Spirituality”. Thus, in relation to the Six Dimensions Wellness model, more attention is needed in the five other components as an indicator they are fully practicing self-care.

Health information and research has become readily available to the general public via the Internet and other communication vehicles and public health programs. As information becomes accessible, so too does the opportunity for individuals to take added ownership in seeking their own health care. The purpose of this research was to examine the role of gender in the decision that leads to individuals seeking regular health care. It focuses on the motivations that influence men and women when managing their regular preventative care. Despite the disparity in health care utilization between men and women, both positive and negative role models positively influence health and wellness. Constructs of masculinity and femininity continue to impact the utilization of health care procurement. Improving our health and providing a role model for our children offers the greatest potential for improving the health of our nation.

BEHAVIOR CONTROL SELF-HELP GROUPS: MEMBERS' ATTITUDES REGARDING HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS.MARQUES, CLARISSA COLELL. January 1983 (has links)
The demand for human services has grown exponentially in recent years. Self-help groups now fill the gap between consumer needs and the reach of traditional health care. This study examines the perception of the members of these groups toward the professional community. Four self-help groups, all based on principles of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and all primarily concerned with the control of excessive behavior were examined: (1) Parents Anonymous (PA), (2) Overeaters Anonymous (OA), (3) Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and (4) Narcotics Anonymous (NA). A 60 item questionnaire was designed to obtain the following information: (1) demographic, (2) membership participation, (3) professional contact, and (4) attitude expression regarding respondents' perception of their particular self-help group, perceptions of health care professionals and perceptions of society's beliefs regarding their behavior. Among the 110 respondents from the four groups responding to the questionnaire, (overall return rate of 52%), there was strong support of the methods and conduct of the self-help groups. Criticism of the self-help groups was negligible. Criticism of the health care community was consistently strong, although respondents indicated relatively high usage of health care providers. The respondents from all four groups appeared to support any individual member's decision to pursue whatever assistance that individual might deem necessary, but maintained firm delineation between the individual's freedom to choose alternative or adjunctive assistance and the group's decision to remain "forever nonprofessional". Despite a common theoretical background, the groups have developed in different directions. PA, which has included health care professionals as group sponsors since its inception, was more open to professional involvement in group affairs than the others and cited a higher rate of professional referral to the group. OA, with less mental health contact and with more medical involvement, expressed greater reluctance to involve professionals in any aspect of the group's activities. AA and NA tended to take more intermediate positions, however, both groups were firmly against professional involvement in group activities. Information of this nature may assist professionals and self-help groups in developing a collaborative and respectful working relationship.

The booklet will hopefully result in better home health care and a reduction of non-emergency after-hours phone calls. The booklet could be a valuable asset for the family physician for both patient education and the reduction of physician occupational dissatisfaction.This booklet will also provide information about the Ball Memorial Hospital Family Practice Center and the specialty of Family Practice.
