GPS assisted stabilization and tracking for a camera systemJohansson, Hugo, Kjellström, Hendric January 2017 (has links)
Today in most vehicles in battle, a camera system is used to manually lock a target and maintaining visual of the target as the vehicle is moving. In order to simplify this, this thesis investigates the approach to semi-automate the process by first manually locking the target and then let the camera approximate the trajectory of the enemy vehicle. In this thesis, the enemy vehicle is not moving. The ability to provide a truthful simulation environment for testing is crucial and will be discussed in this thesis along with three different estimators derived from the Kalman filter. Parameter identification and dynamic modelling of the camera are also presented that serves as a basis for the part of automatic control and for the experiments on the hardware. The simulation environment gave promising results when locating the target based on angle and radius estimation. By simulating a human operator, big deviations from the true value was no longer a problem since its purpose is to take over and steer the camera to the correct value. After gathering results from the simulations, Model-Based Design made it possible to test the algorithms in real life. The biggest challenge was to produce lifelike motions to test the hardware on and therefore made it harder to conclude the end result for the experiments carried out by the hardware on the moving platform.

Automating the gathering of relevant information from biomedical textCanevet, Catherine January 2009 (has links)
More and more, database curators rely on literature-mining techniques to help them gather and make use of the knowledge encoded in text documents. This thesis investigates how an assisted annotation process can help and explores the hypothesis that it is only with respect to full-text publications that a system can tell relevant and irrelevant facts apart by studying their frequency. A semi-automatic annotation process was developed for a particular database - the Nuclear Protein Database (NPD), based on a set of full-text articles newly annotated with regards to subnuclear protein localisation, along with eight lexicons. The annotation process is carried out online, retrieving relevant documents (abstracts and full-text papers) and highlighting sentences of interest in them. The process also offers a summary Table of the facts found clustered by type of information. Each method involved in each step of the tool is evaluated using cross-validation results on the training data as well as test set results. The performance of the final tool, called the “NPD Curator System Interface”, is estimated empirically in an experiment where the NPD curator updates the database with pieces of information found relevant in 31 publications using the interface. A final experiment complements our main methodology by showing its extensibility to retrieving information on protein function rather than localisation. I argue that the general methods, the results they produced and the discussions they engendered are useful for any subsequent attempt to generate semi-automatic database annotation processes. The annotated corpora, gazetteers, methods and tool are fully available on request of the author (catherine.canevet@bbsrc.ac.uk).

Classificação semi-automática de componentes Java / Semi-automatic classification of Java componentsMelo, Claudia de Oliveira 29 September 2006 (has links)
The recent developments on components technologies have increased the number of components available to the market. These components are, however, distributed overall the world and not properly advertised to the research and development communities. Finding the appropriate components to solve a particular problem is not very straightforward and new techniques must be developed to effectively reuse components. One of the great challenges in reusing components is concerned with how to actually classify components \"properly\" in order to further retrieve them. Classifying components for effective retrieval depends on acquiring the appropriate information in classification to improve the precision and recall rates in retrieval; finding only the potentially reusable components and not missing potential solutions. At the same time, the classification and retrieval mechanisms must be easy enough to persuade developers to reuse components. This work studies the classification techniques of software components, repository and retrieval methods. Hereafter is presented a proposal of components classification model that considers not just its function, but business and quality attributes. It is proposed a semi-automatic classification mechanism of software information, allowing a cheaper classification. REUSE+ prototype was built to exemplify the use of model and method of semi-automatic classification, allowing the described proposal validation, highlighting at the end the mainly contributions of the work.

Semi-Automatic Generation of Control Law Parameters for Generic Fighter AircraftLindblom, Markus January 2020 (has links)
Control law design can be an iterative and time-consuming process. The design procedure can often include manual tuning, not uncommonly in the form of trial and error. Modern software tools may alleviate this process but are generally not developed for use within any specific industry. There is therefore an apparent need to develop field-specific tools to facilitate control law design. The main contribution of this thesis is the investigation of a systematic and simplified approach to semi-automatic generation of control law parameters for generic fighter aircraft. The investigated method aims to reduce human workload and time spent on complex decision making in the early stages of aircraft development. The method presented is based on gain scheduled LQI-control with piece-wise linear interpolation. A solution to the automated tuning problem of the associated weighting matrices Q and R is investigated. The method is based on an LQ-optimal eigenstructure assignment. However, the derived method suffers from problem regarding practical implementation, such as the seemingly narrow LQ-optimal root-loci of the linearized aircraft model.Furthermore, the inherent problem of hidden coupling is discussed in relation to gain scheduled controllers based on conventional series expansion linearization. An alternative linearization method is used in order to circumvent this problem. Moreover, the possible benefits and disadvantages of control allocation is addressed in the context of actuator redundancy. It is concluded that one may achieve a somewhat simpler handling of constraints at the expense of some model accuracy due to the inevitable exclusion of servo dynamics.

Semi-automatic code-to-code transformer for Java : Transformation of library calls / Halvautomatisk kodöversättare för Java : Transformation av biblioteksanropBoije, Niklas, Borg, Kristoffer January 2016 (has links)
Having the ability to perform large automatic software changes in a code base gives new possibilities for software restructuring and cost savings. The possibility of replacing software libraries in a semi-automatic way has been studied. String metrics are used to find equivalents between two libraries by looking at class- and method names. Rules based on the equivalents are then used to describe how to apply the transformation to the code base. Using the abstract syntax tree, locations for replacements are found and transformations are performed. After the transformations have been performed, an evaluation of the saved effort of doing the replacement automatically versus manually is made. It shows that a large part of the cost can be saved. An additional evaluation calculating the maintenance cost saved annually by changing libraries is also performed in order to prove the claim that an exchange can reduce the annual cost for the project.
