The research aims at exploring the relationship between maternal sensitivity and perceived social
support in mothers of pre-school children of low socioeconomic status. Twenty-nine mothers between
the ages of 23 and 44 (M = 29.57, SD = 5.65), whose children were between 49 and 73 months of age
(M = 57, SD = 6.87). This study used the Maternal Behavior for Preschoolers' Q-Set (Posada, Moreno,
& Richmond, 1998) in observation mode, and the Social Support Medical Outcomes Questionnaire
(Sherbourne & Stewart, 1991) validated in Spanish by Rodríguez and Enrique (2007). The results
showed a significant and positive association of medium magnitude between instrumental type social
support and the overall level of maternal sensitivity, as well as with the scale supervision and monitoring
and safe base support. A specific objective was to describe maternal sensitivity, which was found a low
level in her grades, as well as a negative correlation of marginal significance with the mother's age.
Regarding the second specific objective, the social support was described and it was identified that the
instrumental support is the one that is perceived in a smaller proportion than the other types of support,
besides finding differences in the level of support according to the family structure of the mother. These
findings indicate that in contexts of poverty, as mothers perceive behavioral and material assistance in
the care of their preschool child and in their daily tasks, they tend to be more sensitive in parenting.

Bowlby and Ainsworth raised, based on his research, that one of the main conditions linked to the establishment of secure attachment was the sensitivity of the attachment figure to respond to the child. Several studies support this association, however, in recent years there have been controversies that challenge these findings. In this sense, the present study aims to determine whether there is a significant relationship between child attachment and maternal sensitivity in the Peruvian context, specifically in Los Olivos district in Lima. Two instruments were used, the Attachment Q-Set (AQS) and the Maternal Behavior for Preschooler's Q-set (MBPQS). The results suggest that there is an association between attachment and sensitivity, in which all the aspects involved in sensitive behavior are equally important for the child to use the mother as a secure base, mainly manifesting conduct proximity and physical contact with the mother. Additionally, this study revealed some information about the relationship between the child's temperament and attachment, so it is suggested to make future research on their impact on the Peruvian context considering a larger sample size and longer time of observation.

The investigation aimed at establishing a relationship between social competence and problem behaviors in preschoolers’ and the mothers’ sensitivity. Moreover, it evaluates the differences in social competence and problem behavior according to the sex of the child, fraternal variables and assistance to a primary institution. 29 preschool children (M = 45.17 months, DE = 7.46) and their mothers (M = 29.07, DE = 5.01) participated in the study. In order to evaluate the child’s social competence and problem behavior, the Social Competence and Behavior Evaluation Scale (SCBE) was used. Maternal sensitivity was measured using the Maternal Behavior for Preschoolers Q-set. Results show a positive association between social competence and maternal sensitivity only in the group of mothers with sensitivity above mean of previous studies. Additionally, girls scored higher than boys in social competence while boys rated higher in anger-aggression. Also, children who attended a primary institution scored higher in anger-aggression in comparison to those who did not attend a primary institution. More so, a negative association was found between anger-aggression and assistance to a primary institution. Furthermore, a positive association was found between assistance to a primary institution and social competence when considering children who assist for at least twenty months.

Over the past few years, higher education institutions have been submitted to various
changes largely conditioned by the demands of society. The change from a university for the
elite to a university for the masses, the increasing demand for the improvement in quality, the
globalization of knowledge, the competitiveness at national and international levels, the
development of internal improvement procedures, the changes in relationships with
administration and society in general; are some of the unavoidable factors of growing
importance in the field of higher education in Europe and around the world.
Accountability, to build trust between society and universities, and the demand for
transparency, for the design and implementation of plans for improvement and decision-making,
are key aspects for meeting society¿s needs. Nevertheless, it is a fact that universities offer less
openness than desired, although in recent years there has been a common effort to change this
situation.
Spanish universities have developed several initiatives to assess the quality of university
activities. In particular, one of the relevant challenges to ensure quality in the Spanish university
system is the assessment of the university teaching staff activity. The importance of the
assessment activities is ever increasing. Such activities can help ensure the quality of
educational processes affecting students, the university community and society in general. The
evaluation results will allow the design and implementation of plans for improvement for the
performance of university teaching staff at universities. It is therefore important to have
measurement tools to assess the university teaching staff activity in three dimensions: teaching,
research and management. However, commonly the assessment instrument used does not meet
the need for the transparency which society demands.
The aim of this research is to design methodological strategies for building composite
indicators to assess and measure multidimensional concepts related to higher education
management. To that end, a thorough review of the statistical techniques that can be applied in
the development of composite indicators is performed. Furthermore, the importance of the
indicators as a basic tool for suitable quality management and accountability in universities is
studied.
After reviewing a summary of the use of indicators in higher education, this study focuses on
the assessment of the academic activities of the Universitat Politècnica de València teaching
staff. First of all, an exploratory analysis of all indicators proposed by the university, for their
teaching staff assessment, is performed. To do this, statistical techniques of dimensionality
reduction, and classification techniques are applied. Subsequently, different methodologies for
constructing a composite indicator that measures teaching activity are proposed, according to
the normalization and weighting techniques applied. Lastly, the analytical characteristics of each of the methodologies proposed are studied, using uncertainty and global sensitivity
analysis techniques to evaluate the quality and robustness of the proposed models, according to
the goals set by the university. The uncertainty analysis is performed using a quasi-random
simulation process and applying a non-compensatory aggregation technique on the results,
known as the Copeland method. A nonparametric approach, known as the State Dependent
Parameter, based on the Kalman filter and smoothing techniques, is performed to apply global
sensitivity analysis. The uncertainty and sensitivity analysis are considered necessary techniques
to provide validity and methodological support for the composite indicators proposed.
Finally, the generalization of the composite indicator referring to teaching activity is studied,
and a composite indicator is designed to evaluate the academic activity of each teacher with
respect to the rest. This is based on the three main dimensions of university teachers: teaching,
research and university management. In order to do this, a non-parametric weighting and
aggregation technique called Benefit of the Doubt is applied. This technique measures the
relative effectiveness in the development of academic activities of each member of university
teaching staff, according to their academic profile.
The methodological techniques proposed in this study are applicable in any field of research,
and they provide a robust and transparent construction scheme of composite indicators. / Bas Cerdá, MDC. (2014).
The main purpose of this research was to establish the relationship between maternal
sensitivity and perceived social support in a group of teenage mothers. Twenty-one mothers,
between 15 and 19 years old (M = 17.52; SD = 1.29), and their babies between 6 and 36
months (M = 13.48; SD = 8.20) participated. The instruments used were the Maternal
Behavior Q-Set version 3.1 (Pederson et al., 1999) in observation mode and the Social
Support Evaluation Questionnaires adapted to Spanish by Musitu et al. (2001). The results
show no significant association between the global scores of each variable. However, when
considering maternal profiles, a significant and inverse correlation was found between
mother's support and nonsynchronous sensitivity. Also, the dimension acceptance as a
person is associated in a significant and direct way with the sensitive vs insensitive profile;
while convergence of goals and disconnected were inversely and significant associated.
According to the specific objectives, maternal sensitivity was described, obtaining an
adequate level in the scores. In terms of social support, participants perceived more social
support from the best friend. Regarding sociodemographic variables, significant differences
were found in social support according to age, educational level and mother's relationship
status. Overall, these findings indicates that the ability to provide sensitive care for their
babies predominates and reveals the importance of social support for teenage mothers.

The aim of this study was to describe the characteristics of maternal sensitivity in a group of
mothers of children diagnosed with cancer. For this purpose we evaluated 12 mothers aged
between 22 and 46 years old (M = 34.17, SD = 6.48) of children (8 boys, 4 girls) aged between
41 and 60 months (M = 51.75, SD = 5.61) and diagnosed with cancer in a time between 2 and 12
months diagnosed (M = 7.88, SD = 1.01). We also had a comparative group (Nóblega, in course)
of 12 mothers, aged between 25 and 44 years old (M = 33.75, DE = 5.987), of apparently healthy
children (8 boys, 5 girls) aged between 45 and 60 months (M=53.75, SD=5.05). The observers
used “Maternal Behavior for Preschoolers Q-Set (Posada, Moreno y Richmond 1998 at Posada,
Kaloustian, Richmont y Moreno, 2007) and an interview that was based on the conducts that
were shown to be more characteristic of their sensitive behavior. The results showed that the
mothers of this study present superior levels of contribution to harmonious interaction, secure
base support and supervision/monitoring than the group of comparison, but a similar level in the
limit setting scale and the global sensitivity to the comparison group. In this way, the presence of
child cancer is not necessarily associated to a decrease in the maternal sensitivity.

This research aims to measure the relationship between paternal sensibility and the
secure base behaviour, as well as to explore the role that marital satisfaction has in
this relationship. The participants were 12 parents with ages between 26 and 54 years
old (M = 39, SD = 2.2) with children between 48 and 66 months (M = 55. 75, SD =
1.7) from a high SES. The specific objective is to compare this relationship to another
from a previous research study in which the participants came from a mid-high SES.
The instruments used were the Maternal Behavior for Preschoolers Q-Set, adapted by
Marinelli (2013), originally created by Posada, Moreno and Richmond (1998 in
Posada, et al. 2007), and the Attachment Q-Set (AQS) version 3.0 (Waters, 1995), as
well as Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS) (Hendrick, 1988) in an adapted version
to a Latinamerican population by Moral de la Rubia (2008). The results show a
significant relationship between paternal sensibility and the secured base behaviour (r
= .67, p = .02). Additionally, this research shows no relation between marital
satisfaction and paternal sensibility. Finally, there were no significant differences in
the relation between paternal sensibility and the secured base behaviour regarding the
socioeconomic level.

The objective of this research was to explore and describe the observed and reported
sensitivity of a group of 6 mothers with infertility history who conceived using IVF. They
were 33 to 41 years old and their babies were only child and under 3 years old. They
were assessed using the Maternal Behavior Q-sort (MBQS) using both observation and
self-report modes. It was found that, in some domains of sensitivity, mothers who
conceived through IVF could have similar scores to what is ideally expected and, even,
in other domains, they could have higher scores than the ideal criterion. Also, it should
be mentioned that these mothers could be as sensitive as a group of colombian
mothers who conceived without any treatment. Furthermore, it was found that reports
of mothers had some consistency with the observed behavior in all domains of
sensitivity.

This study aims to identify (1) the association between maternal sensitivity and attachment representations and (2) the association between maternal sensitivity and ideal maternal sensitivity in adolescent mothers. In addition, this research strives to describe the characteristics that those constructs have in the aforementioned group. In order to achieve this, 12 adolescent mothers, aged between 16 and 19 years old (M = 17.25, DE = 3.25), and their babies, aged between 6 and 18 months (M = 10.25, DE = 3.52), were assessed using the Maternal Behaviour Q-Set (Pederson, Morán y Bento, 1999) and the Maternal Attachment Scripts (Waters y Rodrigues-Doolabh, 2006).
As for sensitivity, two groups were found: mothers with high sensitivity and mother with low sensitivity. This study found an association with marginal significance between narratives of mother-infant relationships and narratives about adult-adult relationships. Ideal sensitivity was found similar to universal criterion and an association with marginal significance was found between it and socioeconomic status. Regarding the general objectives, no significant associations were found. However, a positive association with marginal significance was found between the real and ideal sensitivity in the group of mothers with greater sensitivity; meanwhile, in the group of mothers with lower sensitivity a negative and high, but not significant, correlation was found. These results highlight the need to carry forward research to ascertain the mediators in these relations and how those mediators work.
