The Forgiveness Project

Gentry, Karen Lee 14 April 2010 (has links)
The Forgiveness Project includes a critical introduction that defines the author’s approach to the short-short form as well as an explanation of how historiographical metafiction can work to memorialize. The first section contains primarily short-short stories that address the themes of motherhood, small tyrannies, happy liars, caregiving and the clichés of grief. A collection of linked short stories follows, revolving around elusive forgiveness. On the night of July 17, 1977, Juanita Lee, a bridge tender in South Florida, was abducted by two men and executed in the Everglades to silence her opposition to the demolition of an Intracoastal Waterway bridge. Twenty-two years later her daughter, Jill, now a Washington D.C. lobbyist who views the world through the cynical lens of her life’s work, is confronted with a plea for forgiveness via an organization called “The Forgiveness Project,” representing one of her mother’s killers.

La relocalisation agricole et alimentaire en région Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur : une étude multi approche des circuits courts (2000-2015) / Relocation of agricultural and food sectors in PACA region : a multi approach study of short food chains (2000-2015)

Guiraud, Noé 05 December 2016 (has links)
This thesis concerns the relocation of agricultural and food sectors in the PACA region through the development of short food chains (SFC) since the 2000s. SFC are a form of food commercialization organized according to a principle of geographical, social and economic proximity. The approach developed is focused on the dynamics of institutionalization of SFCs, which is observed by increasing positioning of government and the proliferation of organizations aiming to develop and structure these food systems. Proximity is defined as the principle of change implied by SFCs in terms of the spatial organization of agriculture and food sectors and in terms of the coordination of the actors. Through an empirical and inductive approach, these two aspects are studied dynamically (2000-2015) to observe their structural evolution in the PACA region. We describe territorial food system organization and the structural impact that urban demand has on these developing systems. Simultaneously, the emergence of regional food governance allows a decompartmentalization of agricultural stakeholders and civil society members. These two aspects emphasize the importance of the coordination of actors hroughout the relocation of agricultural and food sectors and specifically the emerging involvement of cities. Finally, this thesis also highlights patterns of exclusion accompanying this agricultural and food relocation resulting from localized competition (economic and spatial) between producers and the exclusion of specific SFCs following the development of models legitimized by the regional governance.

Modelování nesymetrického třífázového vedení / Modelling of unsymmetrical three-phase line

Vápeník, René January 2009 (has links)
The subject of the thesis is creation and description of mathematical model of three-phase asymmetric power line and proposal for three-phase operation calculating of the power network by variet aspects. Another component is the creation of a program in PHP, which would use this mathematical model for the calculation of the three-phase operation of the power network. Part of this work deals with derivation of matrices of elementary multipoles and their serial ordering derive complex multipoles that can be use for concentrated parameters compensation of the power lines.

Gille, Quentin 26 May 2014 (has links)

Michel, Frank Ingo, Richter, Sophie, Focke, Alisa, Crazzolara, Vanessa, Schwanitz, Stefan 14 October 2022 (has links)
In order to better understand the influence of the seat pad in cycling shorts on mechanical comfort, saddle pressure and pelvic movement were analyzed as a function of load intensity as well as duration during cycling. The results of the initial data analysis indicate that it is not so much the stability parameters but rather the pressure perception that is decisive for the assessment of mechanical comfort.

Implementation of optic gates through the pulse position modulation (PPM) in acoustic optical tunable filter (AOTF)

Clauson Sales do Nascimento Rios 13 July 2006 (has links)
In this dissertation it was studied the application of the Acoustic Optical Tunable Filter (AOTF), with Pulse Position Modulation (PPM), aiming at to implement, using the method of Runge-Kutta of 4a order, logical gates (OR and AND) optical operating with pulses of light ultra shorts (2ps). In this work the acting of the gates is investigated, considering several lengths of the filter ( &#61678; L) that integrates your internal structure, with the intention of obtaining the length of more appropriate filter for a satisfactory operation, in dispersion regime, nonlinear, without losses and with Cross Phase Modulation (XPM). This investigation is accomplished in two situations: firstly, filters are considered with Self Phase Modulation (SPM) and GVD (group-velocity dispersion). In a second moment, the same gates are obtained with effects SPM, XPM and GVD, acting together in AOTF. It was observed that for pulses of the type soliton, the effects of the dispersion, of the nonlinearity and of the cross phase modulation exercise together a strong influences in the propagation of the same, provoking the break of the pulse in the exit of the device when we used a larger length for the filters. For shorter devices, the switched pulse presented temporary and spectral compression and spread, as well as, displacement in the time in the two propagation modes (TE and TM). After the choice of a length of appropriate filter, a great temporary displacement was selected to be applied in the input pulses for us to get, in the exit of the logical gate, satisfactory temporary displacements (successes) in the application of the PPM modulation. Soon after, we introduced phases in one of the entrance pulses (TM), provoking a phase displacement among TE and TM pulses, still reducing more the margin of error PPM of operation of the gates. Finally, to the we analyze the applied phases in the pulse TM (0 to 2&#61680;), we defined the best phase angle for the gates to operate in the success area of the PPM modulation.
