Cultura e sociabilidade no museu de arte: etnografia dos visitantes da Pinacoteca do Estado / Culture and sociability at the Art Museum: ethnography of the visitors of Pinacoteca do Estado

Talhari, Julio Cesar 30 September 2014 (has links)
This research analyzes, from an ethnographic point of view, the visitors of Pinacoteca do Estado, in São Paulo. Although it is the oldest art museum in the city, the Pinacoteca is, along with other cultural institutions in the region of Luz, amid processes of revitalization through culture. These processes are part of global urban phenomena that come redefining the role of museums in the urban context and relating them to broader economic processes. However, this research seeks a departure from the analyses that understand museums as part of a culture of consumption and see their visitors only as consumers. Nevertheless, it is not proposed here an anthropology of consumption in spite of the remarkable overcoming of a moral approach to the subject which is based on a split between subject and object and understands the material relations only as forms of representation of deeper classifications and cultural divisions of social groups. Actually, we try to understand the behavior of Pinacotecas visitors in their forms of sociability, as well as the relationship of these visitors with the objects of art based on an anthropological perspective of art and material culture. This perspective allows conceiving artworks as people, which dynamizes and complexifies relations with material objects. Thus, we analyze, situationally, the relationship of the Pinacotecas visitors so that by works of art and the bonds of sociability, social interactions can be expanded and instead of occasion for symbolic and social distinction, the visit can be understood as an opportunity for personal construction.

\"Nossa casaca é dupla-face\": dinâmica sócio espacial e política local no processo de implementação do PAC e da UPP em uma favela da cidade do Rio de Janeiro / Our dress coat is is two-faced: the socio-spacial dynamic and the local politic in the implementation process of PAC and UPP in a slum in the city of Rio de Janeiro

Cunha, Juliana Blasi 15 September 2014 (has links)
This dissertation is articulated around the recent process of implementing public policies in two neighboring favelas in the zona sul of the city of Rio de Janeiro, which is known as Pavão-Pavãozinho-Cantagalo Complex. This process involves some of the most visible policies in the current political scenario, such as the Program for Accelerating Growth (PAC), The Pacification Police Units (UPP) and also policies for urban and land regulation. By employing a situational analysis of this drama, the work makes evident differentiations, rivalries, and also alliances that spread throughout the complex organizational dynamics of residents in both Cantagalo and Pavão-Pavãozinho. By analyzing discourses and spatial practices in distinct social situations, the dissertation emphasizes that residents in these two favelas dont perceive and, especially, dont act as one single unified group, cohesive and integrated, such as suggested by the category Pavão-Pavãozinho-Cantagalo Complex. The dissertation further discurses the challenges placed on previous arrangements of local associativism throughout the process of implementing these public policies. The work describes and analyzes how both old and new actors on the local political scene participate in the process underway, giving special attention to community leadership practice and the notion of agency as found therein. The dissertation takes up the multiple logics that guides action among these leaders, thus calling into question the recurrent polarization found in analyses of this topic among individualist and collectivist practices.

Organisational boundaries and determinants of behaviour in organisations : a situational analysis : a conceptual and empirical inquiry into the determinants of behaviour of organisational members having direct contact with an organisation's exterior, emphasising the perception of situations which occur in work routines

Butcher, David Julian January 1982 (has links)
This study is concerned with furthering an understanding of the behaviour of organisational boundary personnel, or more exactly, with how boundaries act as psychological environments. The study has two complementary aims: to describe the psychological environment encountered by boundary personnel and to offer a theoretical model of the organisation as a psychological environment, the latter being a prerequisite of the former. It is held that a social psychological perspective is needed which can deal adequately with organisations as antecedent conditions of behaviour, and that situational analysis offers a useful social psychological framework for this purpose. The empirical investigation is an initial descriptive study of the psychological environment encountered by boundary personnel. It is argued that initial descriptive studies are necessary when dealing with largely unstudied phenomena, and that this stage in the scientific process has often been undervalued by social psychologists. A diary analysis followed by interviews were used to elicit a range of situations encountered by boundary personnel having direct and frequent contact with customers and clients. Four organisations were studied, each having a different primary task. A self-completion questionnaire was administered to elicit judgemental data, using the situations as stimuli. Multidimensional scaling was applied to analyse the data, treated as four sub-sets. This yielded the dimensions underlying each data set and the representation of situations according to these dimensions in each case. The results suggest that three common dimensions (formality, anxiety and socio-emotionality) underlie the cognitive representations of boundary personnel, and that the psychological environment encountered is complex. A taxonomy of situations is constructed and several important hypotheses relating to the psychological environment of boundary personnel formulated. Implications for future research are discussed.
