Previous issue date: 2013-02-06 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The antiretroviral drugs appeared to prevent the multiplying HIV virus in the body, reducing its virulence, but not eliminate it from infected cells. These drugs increase the length and the quality of life of AIDS patients. In this context, Efavirenz (EFV) is non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. The Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (TDF), oral prodrug of tenofovir, is analogue of adenosine 5 'monophosphate, belonging to the class of nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors. These drugs act on the mechanisms of HIV replication by inhibiting the action of reverse transcriptase and thus preventing viral DNA synthesis. In order to assess the toxic and toxic-genetic potential of EFV and TDF, the present study used the Test for Detection of Somatic Mutation and Recombination (SMART) in Drosophila melanogaster. 3rd stage larvae originating from standard cross (ST) between males mwh and females flr³, were treated with solution of EFV and TDF and distilled water (negative control), for approximately 48 hours (chronic treatment) until they reach the pupal stage. These strains are carriers of specific gene markers, located on the left arm of chromosome 3, which allow you to monitor events related to mutation, mitotic recombination and chromosome aberrations. The statistical diagnosis was obtained by conditional binomial test. In this work, the results demonstrated that the EFV was toxic in high concentrations, but showed no induction of toxic genetic events. Inversely, the TDF showed no toxicity at the concentrations tested, but was showed induction of toxic genetic events at all concentrations, with a prevalence of recombinogenic events. Then, it is essential to analyze constantly the effects risk/benefit of isolated drugs and identify toxic and toxic genetic activity of each drug in order to ensure the quality of life for patients who use monotherapies and offers support for investigations with therapies that use combinations of antiretroviral drugs.

Os resultados de tais experimentos, obtidos mediante a análise estatística, evidenciou a viabilidade do NodePM na plataforma desenvolvida / It is not a simple task to determine which pieces of elevtronic equipment have the greatest influence on the electricity bill. The Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) assist users in this task, allowing to discover if there is any type of a waste in a monitored environment and thus, help them to take proper actions. Hence, it is of crucial importance to use intelligent methods in the smart grids for a novelty detection and to inform the users in an individual and autonomous way when some anomaly has occurred in the energy consumption of electronic equipment. These anomalies can arise, for instance, when a piece of equipment consumes more energy than expected. In this context, we propose an intelligent method, named the Novelty Detection Power Meter (NodePM), to detect the novelties in the energy consumption of electonic equipment monitored by a smart grid. The NodePM detects the novelties considering the entropy of each device monitored, which is calculed based on a Markov chain model that is generated through a machine learning algorithm. For this end, the NodePM is integrated into a platform for the remote monitoring of energy consumption, which consists of a WSN associated with a cloud application. To validate the performance of the NodePM, experiments were done using analysis of variance and parametric and non-parametric tests. The result of these tests, which were obtained from a statistical analysis, provided evidence of the feasibility of the NodePM in the platform that was developed

Software Defined Networking for Smart Grid CommunicationsAydeger, Abdullah 07 July 2016 (has links)
Emerging Software Defined Networking (SDN) technology has provided excellent flexibility to large-scale networks in terms of control, management, security, and maintenance. On the other hand, recent years witnessed a tremendous growth of the critical infrastructure networks, namely the Smart-Grid, in terms of its underlying communication infrastructure. Such large local networks requires significant effort in terms of network management and security. We explore the potential utilization of the SDN technology over the Smart Grid communication architecture. Specifically, we introduce three novel SDN deployment scenarios in local networks of Smart Grid. Moreover, we also investigate the pertinent security aspects with each deployment scenario along with possible solutions. On the other hand, we conducted experiments by using actual Smart Grid communication data to assess the recovery performance of the proposed SDN-based system. The results show that SDN is a viable technology for the Smart Grid communications with almost negligible delays in switching to backup wireless links.

Smart power v zahraničnej politike Brazílie / Smart power in Brazilian foreign policyChovanová, Ľubica January 2012 (has links)
In my thesis I have been working theory bases of smart power, while trying to apply this theory to the foreign policy of Brazil. Theoretical and practical part of the thesis is based on three pillars: soft power, economic power and military might. The paper attempts to answer the question: What are the sources of brazilian power? Wha instruments are these sources turned to? How effectively can Brazil persuade another international actor about its interests or does it rely on coercive power? In trying to answer these questions, I focused mainly on the identification of the most important foreign policy actions in Brazil, which define its current position on the international scene. The application of smart power theory on Brazil's foreign policy is performed through the analysis of the Brazilian operations in peacekeeping mission in Haiti since 2004. The situation in Haiti is an unprecedented challenge for Brazil, under which it can draw on soft power, economic power and military resources.
