Market Segmentation and Product Strategy¡XThe Case of Anhydrous Ammonia Liquefied Gas

Kuo, Hui-Huang 05 September 2011 (has links)
Abstract The research focus on the study the market segmentation and product strategy of ultra-high purity anhydrous liquefied ammonia. Liquefied ammonia gas has wide applications in current industrial markets, ultra high purity ammonia gas is a key process material in light emission diode, solar cell and integrated circuit industries. How to develop a new generation NH3 purification process, select multi-type high pressure containers with global logistic supply ability, and qualified international standard iso-container supply system are key successful factors to develop a competitive product promotion and marketing strategy. The research can help domestic green product manufacturers improve their final products market value. Based on expert interview records and secondary data collection, Michael Porter¡¦s five forces model was used to analyze external technical environment challenges and the SWOT analysis was used to analyze the interior condition of special gas. The result shows that the ultra-high purity ammonia gas is facing a highly dynamic environment. The internal human resource management, manufacturing process update flexibility, and diversity in product mix are key factors that affect the relationship between gas suppliers and customers in electronics. Therefore, specialty gas providers need to have a comprehensive gas manufacturing capability, adequate storage capability, and global operational channel in order to meet the need of end customers. Moreover, the speed and capability of the supply system is the key to the future product strategy of high purity ammonia gas.

Focused Factory ¡V A Novel Business Strategy for Specialty Hospitals in Taiwan

J. Tseng, Charles 21 July 2004 (has links)
Abstract English Abstract From small hospitals to large medical centers, the Taiwan healthcare organizations today are unable to significantly increase investments or generate more revenue due to the strict regulations of current National Health Insurance and Global Budget policies. This predicament is further complicated by the healthcare system¡¦s inability to change from its traditional mass production architecture and mentality. Mass customization (MC) and focused factories (FF) are being applied across many industries with great success ¡V achieving quality at low cost. These are new concepts that can bring significant customer value, allowing organizations¡¦ quality and profitability to improve from increasingly commoditized businesses. This consumer-centric transformation can be one way for Taiwan¡¦s healthcare organizations to get closer to patients¡¦ needs and step out of the traditional confines of the NHI and healthcare delivery. These novel ideas are so akin to the healthcare ideal, yet the traditional healthcare design and Taiwan¡¦s anti-market healthcare policies effectively impedes changes and progress in this direction. This paper intends to assert that MC and FF can be one effective solution to the problems in Taiwan¡¦s healthcare organizations ¡V specifically for the specialty community hospitals. In this way, these small hospitals can capture the value premiums of this new consumerism trend and transform itself into a competitive business, creating higher values for life and health for its customers. This paper will begin with an in-depth background and SWOT analysis of the Taiwan healthcare system and its participants. After an understanding of this industry, a pertinent literature review of the MC and FF concepts and mechanics will be done. A case comparison study of three specialty healthcare organizations will be done to evaluate their differences in competitive strategy, marketing orientation, operational effectiveness, human resources advantage, and organizational performance. The three organizations include a traditional specialty hospital (Gee-Tien Ear Nose & Throat Hospital), a single procedure-based focus factory (Shouldice Hospital), and a disease management focus factory (MedCath Corporation). Finally, a full discussion will ensue to assess the applicability of FF and MC concepts for specialty community hospitals in the Taiwan healthcare market. A Study of the Trend of Retail Type of Operation in China

Yang, Shin-ying 25 June 2005 (has links)
The growth rate of GDP of mainland China in 2003 is 11.48% and the average growth rate of GDP in recent five years is about 9.50%. The growth rate of total retail amount of social consumer goods is 9.00% and the average growth rate of it in recent five years is 10.16% which make mainland China the most prospective market. After joining the world trade organization¡]WTO¡^in 2001, the retail business in China went through a huge variation. Not only the keen competition between China enterprises and foreign businesses, but also the rivalries among various retail types of operation in China retail market make the progress of retail business in China. This study reviews literature to understand the research on the revolution of the retail type of operation, collects and organizes the inferiority materials to know the development of present economic circumstance in mainland China, probe into the growth and future trend of the consumption and retail market. The three most attractive retail types of operation in recent mainland China are department store, supermarket and specialty shop, this study analyses the financial statements of the benchmarks of the three retail types of operation to obtain a deeper comprehension of the future development trend. The result of this study shows the diversification of the development trend of recent retail type of operation in China which is different from the past situation. Every retail type of operation grows prosperously in China, and the performance of supermarket is even better than that of department store. According to the retail life cycle theory, department stores in mainland China are in the maturity phase and have to re-segment its target customers to raise its market share and revenue. The result of this study also shows the polarization of the trend of the retail type of operation in China, which the three most attractive retail type of operation represent. According to the dialectic model, there will be a synthesis between thesis and antithesis retail type of operation possesses the advantages of them. We can also learn from the three wheels of retailing theory that the department store will improve its return ratio by imitating and learning while supermarket will improve its turnover rate to strengthen its differences. Keywords: Retail business in China, type of operation, department store, supermarket, specialty shop.

Regulating consumer profiling : going beyond behavioral advertising / Going beyond behavioral advertising

Whipple, Meredith Catherine 20 August 2012 (has links)
The following report is an examination of consumer tracking and profiling in the United States. The paper presents perspectives on the current discussion surrounding regulation of consumer tracking. It begins with an explanation of the evolution of tracking technologies and tracking prevention tools. This is followed by a discussion of the outcomes of self-regulatory initiatives, as well as existing regulatory efforts from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and standardization initiatives from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This background information is used to examine “specialty consumer reporting agency” Web sites, information brokers that exist solely to create profiles about individuals and sell these profiles online. This research presents a content analysis of privacy policies for 29 of these Web sites. Specifically, the content analysis focuses on the legal language they use in their presentation of Federal Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) disclaimers, the listed sources of their information, and their instructions for users to correct or remove their information. The conclusion from the findings is that many of these Web sites are engaging in deceptive practices as defined by the FTC. As a solution, the FTC could enforce FCRA requirements on these Web sites by requiring that consumers be able to access this information, dispute inaccurate information, understand how their information is gathered and used, and opt out of having a profile completely. The FTC also can create a centralized Web site where specialty consumer reporting agencies identify themselves to consumers, describe how they collect and use consumer data, and detail the access rights and other choices they provide with respect to the consumer data they maintain. Finally, the paper concludes with a summary of online privacy initiatives in the European Union, and an explanation of the requirements of United States compliance with these policies when taking part in the European marketplace. / text

Efeito do treinamento diafragmÃtico na barreira antirrefluxo e nos sintomas de pacientes com esofagite de refluxo / Effect of training on diaphragmatic thegastroesophageal barrier and symptoms in patients with reflux esophagitis

Maria Josire Vitorino Lima 25 November 2011 (has links)
INTRODUCTION: The Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is a syndrome wicth one of the causes is a functional or anatomical change in the barrier mechanisms of gastric contents. It is a chronic disorder with a high and changeable estimated prevalence (from 10 to 50% of the population). Interventions in respiratory function, such as the use of CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure), can alter the occurrence of GERD, improving basal pressure and the rate of spontaneous relaxations of the Lower Esophageal Sphincter (LES). The main respiratory muscle is the diaphragm, whose crural part forms the anti-reflux barrier. The crural diaphragm is a skeletal muscle and hence it can be trained. Therefore, the main question is whether we could improve the anti-reflux barrier through physical therapy training of the diaphragm. OBJECTIVE: To show the training diaphragm may have significant effect on the antireflux barrier and symptoms in patients with reflux esophagitis. METHODS: Intervencional study it was measured the Baseline pressures (Bp) and the inspiratory pressures from the LES, both in mmHg. These measurements were done during the maneuvers of Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia (RSA) and with inspiratory load (Threshold  IMT) of 17 (Pth17), 35 (Pth35) and 70cmH2O (Pth70).We used a system of low-compliance perfusion manometry, and a sonde with a "dentsleeve" of 6cm. The diaphragmatic training was conducted during eight weeks with initial load of 30% of Maximal Inspiratory Pressure (MIP), with weekly increments of 5%. Each training session consisted of 10 series of 15 inspiratory incursions, with a pause from 30s to 60s between the series, and aberage of 30 minutes duration. RESULTS: Intervencion study with twelve patients carried GERD without hiatal hernia, of both genders (18-50 years old) The study has showed that the Bp increased significantly after the diaphragmatic training (19.7  2.4 versus 28.5  2.1, p = 0.0009, n = 12), as well as the RSA pressure (95,87,8 versus 122,512,7, p=0,0218). The LES pressure, during the maneuver with a resistive load of 17 cmH20, was higher after diaphragmatic training (117,312,8 versus 138,810,8, p=0,0308), white with a resistive load of 35 cmH20 it was similar (130,713,4 versus 138,810,8, p=0,5085). The LES pressure, during the maneuver with a resistive load of 70 cmH20, was higher after diaphragmatic training, although not statistically significant (127,314,0 versus 146,19,5, p=0,0909). The number of transient lower esophageal sphincter relaxations (tLESR), during one hour, decreased significantly after diaphragmatic training [20.00 (18.0 to 30.3) versus 13.5 (10.7 to 19.5), p = 0.0059)]. The scores of heartburn and regurgitation, based on the frequency of symptoms, were significantly lower after diaphragmatic training [3.0 (1.0 to 4.0) versus 0 (from 0.0 to 1.0), p = 0.0035] and [2.5 (0.0 to 4.0) versus 0 (from 0.0 to 4.0), p = 0.0084, respectively]. CONCLUSION: The diaphragmatic training improves the baseline pressure, decreases the tLESR and the symptoms of the GERD.

AvaliaÃÃo da assistÃncia fisioterapÃutica sob a Ãptica do usuÃrio / Evaluation of the physiotherapeutic assistance under the usersâ point of view

Milena Sampaio MagalhÃes 31 July 2003 (has links)
