Time Synchronization In ANT Wireless Low Power Sensor NetworkSheriff, Nathirulla January 2011 (has links)
Short range wireless data communication networks that are used for sport and health care are sometimes called Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) and they are located more or less on a person. Sole Integrated Gait Sensor (SIGS) is a research project in WBAN, where wireless pressure sensors are placed like soles in the shoes of persons with different kinds of deceases. The sensors can measure the pressure of the foot relative to the shoe i.e. the load of the two legs is measured. This information can be useful e.g. to not over or under load a leg after joint replacement or as a bio feedback system to help e.g. post stroke patients to avoid falling. The SIGS uses the ANT Protocol and radio specification. ANT uses the 2.4 GHz ISM band and TDMA is used to share a single frequency. The scheduling of time slots is adaptive isochronous co-existence i.e. the scheduling is not static and each transmitter sends periodically but checks for interference with other traffic on the radio channel. In this unidirectional system sole sensors are masters (transmitters) and the WBAN server is the slave in ANT sense. The message rate is chosen as 8 Hz which is suitable for low power consumption. Hence in the SIGS system, it is necessary to synchronize the left and the right foot sensors because of low message rate. In our thesis, we found a method and developed a prototype to receive the time synchronized data in WBAN server from ANT wireless sensor nodes in SIGS system. For this thesis work, a hardware prototype design was developed. The USB and USART communication protocols were also implemented in the hardware prototype. The suitable method for time synchronization was implemented on the hardware prototype. The implemented method receives the sensor data, checks for the correct stream of data; add timestamp to the sensor data and transmit the data to the Linux WBAN server. The time slots allocation in the ANT protocol was found. Alternative solution for the time synchronization in ANT protocol was also provided. The whole SIGS system was tested for its full functionality. The experiments and analysis which we performed were successful and the results obtained provided good time synchronization protocol for ANT low power wireless sensor network and for Wireless Bio-feedback system.

Different participants in the real estate market have difficulty in valuing commercial real estate due to reduced market transparency. The reduced transparency is a result of fewer properties being transferred by way of document of purchase today. The purpose of this study is to create a better understanding of the property market and be able to provide market participant with an improved understanding how to analyze this market. The objective is to investigate why some companies choose to sell properties by way of document of purchase instead of transferring the property by using a limited company structure. Two legal cases have been reviewed for judicial assessments. The court cases analysis showed the degree of turnover of property transfers can lead to uncertainty in terms of possible tax implications. This uncertainty might lead to companies choosing to transfer properties by way of document of purchase due to the much clearer legal position. An interview study has been conducted to investigate why companies transfer commercial properties through the use of purchase document. The study showed that companies’ choice of transfer form is dependent on the advantages and disadvantages of the form together with possible tax implications. The interview study also showed a simple transfer process is preferred together with financial gains when selling properties. The conclusion is that the seller’s preferred choice of transfer form is dependent on the outcome of the project models, the purchasers’ impact and how complicated the transfer process may be. The increased level of transparency achieved by using document of purchase makes it easier for participants in the real estate market to conduct market analysis and also to make the results more reliable. In addition to this the Swedish government intends to launch an investigation into potential effects of tax planning in connection with the use of limited corporate structures. The number of transferals in the property market could potentially change dependent on the outcome of the government’s investigation and if so this could be an interesting topic for a future study.

The meanings of late Neolithic stamp seals in North MesopotamiaDenham, Simon January 2013 (has links)
The late Neolithic of North Mesopotamia has long been held up as the first example of a ‘global’ culture with aspects of shared material culture, most notably pottery styles and subsistence strategies, spread across North Mesopotamia, the Northern Levant, and parts of south-east Anatolia. Increasing research in the past twenty years has illustrated that the material similarities visible in the late Neolithic do not represent a closed cultural community, but instead reflect a network of loosely connected groups who were members of imagined communities that linked people within shared cosmologies. Since their discovery in the early decades of the twentieth century stamp seals have been treated as a type artefact of the late Neolithic (particularly one of its constituent parts the Halaf) where they have been used to argue for the presence of sealing systems based around administrative storage of personal or communal property and possibly trade relations. However, except for a thesis published in 1990, late Neolithic stamp seals have never been comprehensively studied or interpreted primarily within their own context. Instead previous studies of stamp seals have tied stamp seals into a modernist narrative of progression that implicitly culminates in modern, Western, Nation States. This research challenges and deconstructs this narrative to demonstrate there is little evidence that seals in the late Neolithic were used for administrative purposes. To this end it gathered and re-classified the available data on provenanced stamp seals using a classificatory ontology called prototype theory that allows for more reflexive classification then the existing Aristotelian classifications. The thesis argues that stamp seals were indexical symbols with their symbolism being used to link members of imagined communities within real communities across the late Neolithic ‘world’. These people were members of a perceived descent group originating in shifting relationships to place during the change from sedentary farming communities in the eighth millennium BC to more mobile communities in the seventh millennium BC. At the same time as negotiating these supra-community identities seals were also used indexically in a variety of sub-community ways being used for a variety of magical (primarily apotropaic and talismanic) uses. As part of this I argue sealing practices in the late Neolithic relate to specific events of efficacious sealing using the power in the seal’s design.

The purpose of this thesis is to contextualize and analyse Visions du Canada, a series of twelve landscapes representing the country’s provinces and territories. Commissioned to Quebec painter Jean Paul Lemieux by the Canada Post Corporation in 1982, they are issued in 1984 as part of Canada Day, an annual series designed to highlight national pride and belonging on Canada Day. Created in a semi classic style, these varied, colourful, and serene-like landscapes display a united, equal and diverse image of Canada. However, the historical and political context in which they are produced reveals a more complex reality. Indeed, the failure of the 1980 referendum on sovereignty and the Quebecers’ dissatisfaction with the terms of the Constitution’s patriation in 1982 fuel the cultural divide between Quebec and the rest of Canada. In Visions du Canada nature creates the basis for national unity as envisioned by the federal government. By commissioning works designed for national dissemination to the Quebec painter, the government, through the Canada Post Corporation, thus blurs the dichotomy between Quebecer and Canadian identity. The stamp’s intrinsic functions then render this message accessible to all Canadians. Therefore, an analysis of Visions du Canada reveals a more nuanced and complex perception of the Canadian landscape. The questions that punctuate Lemieux’s career, such as the relationship between the human being and the universe and the anguish in front of modernization, also challenge the myths of coexistence with nature and northerness that sustain the country’s claim to unity.

Návrh postupu výroby součástí pro váleček pásového dopravníku / Proposal of the manufacturing procedure for the parts of belt conveyor rollerPavelek, Michal January 2011 (has links)
The project, which has been elaborated within the framework of Master's Degree in Manufacturing Technology (2303T002), processes a technology proposal for the production of stamped part čelo from DD14 material, with a thickness 4 mm, with production quantities of 100 000 pieces per year, in cooperation with the company UNIRON Ltd. Based on the literature study of deep drawing without thinning of the walls and calculations, production of the part of simple single-function drawing tools was proposed. The first three operations performed on a PYE 100 S/1 hydraulic press and the last calibration operation carried out on a LEK 250 eccentric press. The semi-finished product is blank with a diameter of 195 mm, produced in a simple cutting die. The cutting die is designed for both the material in the form of a sheet metal strip in coils and cut strips of metal sheet, which is associated with the use of two eccentric presses of the LEK 250 and LE 400C types. The proposed manufacturing process was simulated in the PAM-Stamp 2G software, in which the influence of the radius the functional parts of tools to change the thickness of the material is further simulated. The part of the project is a technical and economic evaluation, in which the price of one piece of the product and production quantity at which production becomes profitable was rated.

Ověření pravosti razítek v dokumentu / Verification of Authenticity of Stamps in DocumentsMicenková, Barbora January 2011 (has links)
