Omer, Amir Isam January 2010 (has links)
The aim and objective of this study was to determine the bond strength of a twostep and a single-step dentin bonding agent and to determine the effect of repeated thermal-cycling from 50C and 550C on the bond strength values of these dentin bonding agents.

Dynamic stability of human walking during perturbations and voluntary gait changes

Young, Patricia Mary 01 June 2011 (has links)
Falling during walking leads to millions of emergency room visits every year for all age groups and is a significant medical concern. While gait training has shown some promise for fall prevention, we know relatively little about how humans maintain stability, how we can quantify it and how we can use this knowledge to increase the success of fall prevention training. In this dissertation, I studied how human stability responds to continuous, small magnitude perturbations and to voluntary changes in gait characteristics by examining movement variability and long-term and instantaneous dynamic stability. In the first set of experiments, participants were exposed to continuous, pseudo-random external perturbations of the visual field and support surface in a Computer Assisted Rehabilitation ENvironment (CAREN). Participants exhibited increased step widths, shorter step lengths and increased step variability, orbital and short-term local instability. Despite this, mean instantaneous lateral stability remained approximately constant. In the second set of experiments, participants voluntarily adopted changes in their step widths and step lengths. Wider steps were associated with increased step width variability, decreased nonlinear stability, decreased anterior-posterior margins of stability and increased instantaneous lateral stability. Shorter steps were associated with decreased short-term and orbital stability but did not affect mean instantaneous stability. When instantaneous stability was examined between steps, as opposed to as an average over many steps, results from both studies indicated a relationship between each step’s stability and the stability of the immediately preceding step. From these studies, we now know that unpredictable, continuous perturbations during human walking applied in a given direction can be used to elicit predictable responses in motion variability and stability in that same direction. We know that the type of stability examined can influence the conclusions drawn about an individual’s stability during perturbed walking. For example, an individual’s variability may indicate increased risk of falling while he or she simultaneously demonstrates increased orbital stability and instantaneous lateral stability. A challenge faced in this area of research will be to understand how quantitative measures of stability relate to how we perceive our stability. / text

Análise de desempenho da rede neural artificial ARTMAP fuzzy aplicada para previsão multi-step de cargas elétricas em diferentes níveis de agregação /

Müller, Marcos Ricardo January 2018 (has links)
With the evolution of electric energy markets, these types of data become more important, since the commercialization of energy also begins to consider these levels of consumption. Several techniques have been applied to predict electrical loads, such as statistical, computational intelligence and hybrids models. In the specialized literature it is possible to find works that apply the artificial neural network ARTMAP Fuzzy for tasks of prediction of electric charges, however, the technique is still little explored in less aggregated consumption scenarios, and with greater levels of detail. In this work the ARTMAP Fuzzy network is applied in multi-step forecasting tasks of real electric loads with different levels of aggregation. Considering the impact of noise on predictors, especially in the generalization capacity of artificial neural networks, the singular spectrum analysis technique is applied in the noise removal task. The prediction results allowed to analyze the performance of the ARTMAP Fuzzy network, which was compared with other two predictors used as benchmark, namely seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average and the multiLayer perceptron neural network. The noise removal allowed an improvement in the levels of network generalization, po... (Complete abstract click electronic access below) / Doutor

Analýza vnějšího prostředí vybraného podniku / Analysis of External Enviroment of Chosen Company

ŠANDOR, Pavel January 2008 (has links)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to elaborate an analysis of the external environment of a chosen company on bases of a special literature, own pieces of knowledge and gained information about the market. I have reached the results by the help of the Step analysis, the Porter{\crq}s model, the Competition analysis and the SWOT analysis. By the help of the Step analysis I tried to define factors that could influence the company even though they are outside the enterprise. On bases of the Porter{\crq}s model I have analyzed five competitive forces that influence our company namely new competitors, suppliers, customers, substitutes and a competition ring. By the help of the Competition analysis I have reviewed which companies concerned with the metal production and locksmithery are direct competitors of the company. Through the SWOT analysis method I tried to define inner strong and weak points and external opportunities and jeopardy. I have found convenient factors afterwards I have determined their importance by the help of the method of the Geminate comparison. In conclusion I have evaluated data. On their bases I have drawn up recommendations for the future development and I have suggested convenient strategies. Those strategies were strategy of the Market Development, Market Penetration, Concentric Diversification and strategy of Creation of the competitive advantage.
