kommunikasiepraktisyn se rol as strategis.

The role of colleges of education in the North West Province / Moagiemang Desmond MochwanaesiMochwanaesi, Moagiemang Desmond January 1998 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to ascertain the role of colleges of education in the North West
Province. Put differently it wished to determine to what extent colleges of education in the
North West Province as institutions are adjusted to their real potential environments so that
adjustments could be made if necessary.
In order to be able to investigate teacher training in the North West Province, a literature survey
was conducted to determine the core criteria regarding quality and efficiency in teacher
training. The instruments used in the planning process are explained and the one which deals
with strategic planning in an education system is used to plan the functioning of colleges of
education in the North West Province to comply with the identified core criteria.
A detailed consideration of the functioning of colleges of education in the North West Province
is introduced by a brief overview of the evolving pattern of the South African teacher
education and a review of proposals to unify higher education and to broaden the role of colleges.
The literature study on the historical background of teacher education in South Africa
revealed that it has been a fragmented and inefficient system in which teachers were inequitably
distributed across South Africa. An investigation into the functioning of colleges of education
in the North West Province is based on the components of the education system as
entailed in the chosen strategic planning in education model mentioned earlier.
The opinions of experts and stakeholders in the field of the role of colleges of education in the
North West Province were obtained through the empirical study done according to the steps
of strategic planning in education. The findings obtained after data interpretation were then
compared with the information from the literature study. The following trends were identified
amongst others: Firstly that there is a great need for in-service or further training to upgrade
the qualifications of practising teachers. Secondly, that there is a great need for properly
trained teachers for the technical, mathematics and science subjects and also that there is a
need for trained teachers to assist with non-formal programmes.
An analysis and evaluation of the identified trends revealed that colleges of education can
play a larger and more important role and would be in a position to utilise their facilities and
skills more effectively if they made the necessary adjustments.
In sketching the future possibilities for colleges of education in the North West Province it
was shown that colleges of education will function more cost-effectively if they diversify
their function to include other tasks than the training of teachers, like carrying out the function of community colleges. / Thesis (MEd)--PU for CHE, 1998

PhD (Communication Studies), North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2015

A strategic sequential, integrated, sustainable organisation-stakeholder relationship (SISOSR) model for building stakeholder partnerships : a corporate communication perspectiveSlabbert, Yolandi 11 1900 (has links)
A dominant focus on organisational stakeholders is currently evident in both the literature and in practice since it is argued that the success of organisations is predominantly dependent on stakeholders’ perception of the organisation. This stakeholder emphasis is evident in the inclusion of a chapter on governing stakeholder relations in the King III report and the development of various stakeholder standards in South Africa, including corporate social investment, corporate governance, corporate citizenship, corporate sustainability and the triple bottom line. Despite the recognition of the importance and necessity of building and maintaining stakeholder relations in the literature, there is a dearth of research on how to actually build these relationships. The aim of this study was to address this shortcoming by proposing a generic, integrated approach to sustainable organisation-stakeholder relationship (OSR) building with strategic stakeholders whereby strategic stakeholder identification, OSR development and OSR maintenance, which are often studied independently, would be integrated in order to constitute a new unified model. This model will promote a sustainable OSR-building process for organisation-stakeholder partnership (OSP) development. The following three building blocks for such a model were proposed: a strategic communication foundation that promotes the integration of specific corporate communication functions that is practised from a two-way symmetrical communication perspective as the basis for effective OSR building; a theoretical foundation, which is an integration of Freeman’s stakeholder concept (1984) from a normative, relational viewpoint, Ferguson’s relational paradigm for public relations (1984) and Ledingham’s (2003) theory of relationship management, encapsulated by Grunig’s (1984) excellence theory, of which the proposed OSR-building model would be a pragmatic representation; and a conceptualisation of the OSR-building model where the actual phases of the OSR-building process would be proposed to provide step-by-step guidance for OSR building. This model promotes a partnership approach with strategic stakeholders, which is based on the proposition of an OSR development continuum, which implies that an OSR could grow in intensity over time, from a foundational OSR, mutually-beneficial OSR, sustainable OSR, to ultimate organisational-stakeholder partnerships (OSPs).
This model was built from a corporate communication perspective, and subsequently highlighted the contribution of corporate communication in the organisation as an OSR-building function to ensure organisational effectiveness. This study provided an exploratory literature review to constitute a conceptual framework for OSR-building of which the principles of the framework would be further explored and measured in leading listed South African organisations, by means of a quantitative web-based survey and qualitative one-on-one interviews to compose an OSR-building model that provides guidance on the process of OSR building on the basis of insights from theory and practice.
Communication Science / D. The effect of a training programme on the attitude of managers towards performance managementTeubes, Susanna Wilhelmina 08 1900 (has links)
Text in English, summary in English and Afrikaans / The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of a performance management
training programme on the attitudes of managers towards performance management. The
research question was whether a performance management training intervention would
change managers' attitude towards performance management. The respondent group
consisted of 101 managers who responded to an advertisement and willingly participated in a
performance management training programme. A quasi-experimental research design was
used in which a pre-test and post-test was applied to the respondent group. The managers in
the respondent group completed the same assessment instrument (or questionnaire) before
and six months after the performance management training. The results of the empirical
analysis indicated that female managers felt less positive about performance management
than their male counterparts. No statistically significant change in the attitude and
competency of managers towards performance management was found after they had attended the performance management training programme.
navorsingsvraag was of 'n opleidingsintervensie in prestasiebestuur, bestuurders se houdings
prestasiebestuuropleidingsprogram. 'n Kwasie-eksperimentele navorsingsontwerp is gebruik
bestuurders minder positief oor prestasiebestuur gevoel het as hul manlike kollegas.
Industrial and Organisational Psychology / M.A. (Industrial Psychology)

Every organization has a corporate image (beyond its control) which is mainly formed by its
corporate identity (which it can control). This means that organizations have to manage their
images. A positive image is particularly important for non-profit organizations, since these
organizations depend on the goodwill of their publics for their existence.
NG Welsyn is a well known welfare organization, famous for its bond with the Dutch
Reformed church. Its two main sources of income, namely the state and members of the
church have different opinions about the spending of funds. The state expects NG Welsyn to
play a role in transformation, while members of the church want their needs to be catered for
first. This, along with the decrease in funds from church members forced NG Welsyn to
research its image among Dutch Reformed church members.
In order to determine the image of NG Welsyn, an external public relations audit was formed
through the use of questionnaires, focus groups and semi-structured interviews.
Theoretical knowledge with regard to corporate image and identity as well as attitude
formation was used as theoretical framework within the context of strategic communication
management by non-profit organizations. The attitudes of church members on the elements
of corporate identity were researched to determine the organization's image.
The results show that the church members don't have a positive or negative image of NG
Welsyn, since they don't have enough information about the organization. There is currently
no relationship between the two parties. The main conclusion is that NG Welsyn can
improve its image by the strategic management of communication with important publics. / Thesis (M.A. (Communication Studies))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2005.
