Lo spazio senso-motorio come rappresentazione dei comportamenti intersoggettivi : una nuova ipotesi sperimentale dalla filosofia alle neuroscienze / L'espace sensori-moteur en tant que "représentation" des conduites intersubjectives : une nouvelle hypothèse expérimentale entre philosophie et neurosciences / Sensori-motor space as representation of intersubjective behaviours : a new experimental hypothesis from philosophy to neuroscience

Teneggi, Chiara 21 May 2013 (has links)
This research arises from the following three main hypotheses: 1) Low and high-level cognitive processes are bound together; 2) Sensorimotor space is a subjective perception; and 3) Sensorimotor space varies as a function of different types of social behaviours. The thesis argues that sensorimotor space is shaped by both mere co-presence of another human body and cooperative or uncooperative interactions. Chapters l, Il, III aim at analyzing and explaining the meaning of the first, the second and the third hypothesis in order to advance the primary thesis. Chapter V opens up an ethical perspective about a possible bound between spatial perception and moral evaluations during social interactions. This work is enriched by several constitutive disciplines of cognitive sciences : conternporary philosophy, philosophy of mind, experimental neuropsychology and some topics studied by social psychology.

Constructivism, personal constructs and the concept of different worlds

Henderson, James Patrick 10 1900 (has links)
Previous constructivist research was integrated with a field study to investigate the hypothesis that the subjective perceptions of the current social, security and economic situation of the high and low-income groups in South Africa differ to the extent that they could be said to be living in totally different worlds of phenomenological experience. The data demonstrated clear differences when coded in terms of worldviews along an Optimism-Pessimism Continuum. A number of additional processing phenomena and social dynamics able to influence these perceptions were also identified from an interpretative analysis of the data. The results were explained in terms of the cueing and activation of specific schemata constructed from income-related prior experiences associated with each group and led to the conclusion that income and living conditions could well be factors contributing to the ongoing confrontations between government and impoverished communities. A number of recommendations to improve inter-group relations were included. / Psychology / M.A. (Psychology)

Estratégias adaptativas de jovens moradores e não-moradores de comunidades do Rio de Janeiro: sua relação com a percepção do contexto e experiência de violência / Adaptative strategies of youth dwellers and non-dwellers of slums in Rio de Janeiro: its relationship with context perception and violence experience

Tânia Abreu da Silva Victor 19 July 2012 (has links)
Young people may take risk behavior according to unpredictability of the environment they live. This behavior may also vary according to individual experience, sex, among other contextual variables. Rio de Janeiro presents one of the lowest life expectancy rate of Brazilian states and the highest violent death rate among youth. However, this experience of violence may vary for young people, mainly in function of social inequality, which is expressive in certain areas of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The present Master thesis aimed to approach this field of investigation on the Evolutionary Psychologys perspective, centering in strategies that orient human behavior and our future expectancies. Following those principles, the proposal of this study was to analyze the behavior of youth living in distinct contexts of Rio de Janeiro: slum (favela) dwellers situated in very different regions of the city, Rocinha, located in a wealthy area of the city, the South Zone, and Vigário Geral, in the surroundings of the city, and non-slum dwellers, from different regions of the state. We tried to investigate if this youth perceive the place they live as hostile and violent and how this could affect them in future orientation and, yet, the effect of violent events of the last twelve months and the subjective and objective perceptions of the context in relation to the orientation that young people have towards here and now, as a measure of future discounting. The results indicate that the strategies which orient the choices of this youth, in short or long term, are strongly connected to the violence experience. The worse this youth perceive the context they are inserted either objectively or subjectively, stronger is the orientation towards here and now, being this a measure of future discounting. Searching to comprehend human behavior on a biopsychosocial approach, it is not possible to considerate only risks, but the people who assume those risks and, mainly, the context they live. In this sense, risk strategies and conducts only can be considered adaptive or not in function of the context in which they are manifest. We expected the data obtained in this research can benefit the work of professionals in public policies and health promotion, suggesting important directions that make viable the access of youth to better life conditions.

The influence of femininity/masculinity and environmental threats on preferences for potential romantic partners

Pereira, Kamila Janaina 23 April 2019 (has links)
During evolution, humans faced the trade-off between preferences for feminine and masculine traits which are connected to direct (parental care) and indirect (genetic quality) investments into reproduction, respectively. Therefore, femininity-masculinity (FM) affects perceived attractiveness and indicates biosocial qualities. Physiological and morphological FM are primarily influenced by reproductive hormones; however, its perception can be mediated by: 1) biopsychosocial contexts (e.g. self- and other-perception), 2) multiple channels of information (e.g. visual and vocal information), and 3) environmental threats (e.g. pathogens and resource scarcity). However, previous studies show limitations. Firstly, it is unclear if self- and other-rated FM are associated. Secondly, results suggest that womens faces and voices present concordant information about their FM; however, mixed results are found for men. Finally, studies mainly focus on womens preferences for digitally manipulated male faces and voices in a forced-choice design. Thus, we examined: (a) possible associations between subjective perceptions (i.e. self- and other-rated FM and attractiveness), and measured FM; (b) whether womens and mens FM is concordantly perceived by third-party raters; and (c) the influence of pathogen threat (PT) and resource threat (RT) on womens and mens preference for FM in the opposite sex. We took facial photos, and recorded voices and dances of a target sample of 41 women and 38 men and we measured sexual dimorphism of facial shape, vocal fundamental frequency, and ethogram of videos. These participants also self-rated their facial, vocal, and behavioral FM and attractiveness. Later, 64 (43 women) and 51 (28 women) students independently rated facial, vocal and behavioral FM and attractiveness of the target sample, respectively. Finally, 370 (206 women) students were primed with newspaper-like articles on either PT (Aedes aegypti, and its mosquito-borne diseases) or RT (Brazilian economic crisis), and compared to a control condition (lions poisoned in a Kenyan Reserve). Participants were randomly assigned either for a short- or long-term relationship. After each priming article, participants rated attractiveness of the five most masculine and the five most feminine stimuli of the opposite sex of the target sample in a standalone-rating design. Each sample was independent and comprised students, aged 18-35 years, from universities across the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil. In women, results showed that 10 subjective perceptions did not reflect perceptions of others or objective measures. However, womens facial and vocal FM correlated positively, suggesting concordant information about mate quality. In contrast, mens self-rated FM and attractiveness correlated with third-party ratings, and male voice pitch correlated with self- and other-rated FM. Nevertheless, other-ratings on mens FM did not correlated, indicating multiple messages. Finally, for long-term context, women preferred a mosaic of mens masculine faces and feminine voices after primed with RT condition. Men, however, preferred masculine female voices, suggesting a preference for partners with easier access to resources. There was no effect of PT condition in short-term context, indicating the influence of the study design. Finally, no effect was found for dances, suggesting a different development than faces and voices

Subjektivní vnímání životní změny u osob v substitučním metadonovém programu v Českých Budějovicích. / Subjective Perception of the Life Change of Persons in the Methadone Maintenance Treatment Program in České Budějovice.

MARKOVÁ, Kateřina January 2012 (has links)
The thesis focuses on the subjectively perceived changes in the lives of persons in the methadone maintenance treatment program, on their experiencing of the changes and subjective judgment of the treatment. The topic is treated according to the Bio-Psycho-Socio-Spiritual Model of Addiction. The theoretical part deals with the quality of life and the subjectively perceived well-being and defines six dimensions of well-being on which the practical part of the thesis is based. It also elaborates on the Bio-Psycho-Socio-Spiritual Model of Addiction in the context of the methadone maintenance treatment. Moreover, it describes the factors in life change and the motivation to change. The last theoretical chapter focuses on the opioid substitution treatment as such and more specifically on the methadone maintenance treatment. The practical part presents the results of the research. The aim of the thesis is to analyse how the persons in the methadone maintenance treatment program in České Budějovice perceive life changes. A qualitative research was chosen for that purpose. The data were obtained through the technique of narrative interview. The research group consisted of four respondents who were on the methadone maintenance treatment program. The results show that the subjectively perceived changes in the lives of the persons in the methadone maintenance treatment program relate to five out of six dimensions of well-being. No changes were recorded in the dimension concerning the sense of life, in other words, even after a several month methadone maintenance treatment these persons perceive no goal of their lives. Important consequences for work with these persons can be drawn from that, especially for therapists in opioid substitution centres, who should develop spirituality aspects of persons.

Vliv subjektivního vizuálního vnímání na automatické hodnocení vzhledu rozhraní dashboard / Impact of Subjective Visual Perception on Automatic Evaluation of Dashboard Design

Hynek, Jiří Unknown Date (has links)
Práce kombinuje obecné znalosti týkající rozhraní dashboard s poznatky z oblasti vizualizace dat, vizuálního vnímání a ověřování kvality uživatelských rozhraní a následně zkoumá myšlenku automatického hodnocení vzhledu rozhraní dashboard s využitím metrik. Práce analyzuje vybrané metriky založené na analýze pixelů bitmapy a grafických elementů. Konkrétně zkoumá, jakým způsobem uživatelé rozpoznávají grafické elementy v rozhraních dashboard a výsledky aplikuje pro hodnocení schopnosti metrik (analyzujících grafické elementy rozhraní) objektivně rozpoznávat dobře navržené vzorky rozhraní dashboard.

Predikce zvukoizolačních vlastností dělicích stavebních konstrukcí a zabezpečení akustické pohody v interiéru budov / PREDICTION SOUND INSULATION PROPERTIES DIVIDER BUILDING STRUCTURES AND SECURITY ACOUSTIC COMFORT INSIDE BUILDINGS

Berková, Petra January 2013 (has links)
This thesis deals with the properties of soundproof partition structures in the low-frequency sound at impact sound insulation and security of acoustic comfort inside buildings. The prediction of impact sound is a simulation laboratory measurements of impact sound. The work is based on the occurrence of frequent complaints of inhabitants of residential homes for subjectively poor impact sound insulation of horizontal dividing structures, whose top layer is formed laminate. Although these structures conform in terms of impact sound insulation in accordance with the requirements of CSN 73 0532: 2010, residents complain about the subjective perception of the sounds of lower frequencies. A noise with a distinctive character of sound at low frequencies has been proved by measuring the spectral analysis and evaluation of sound pressure levels caused by the movement of persons roof construction to the floor. On the measurement and evaluation carried out in accordance with the measurement and evaluation of noise in non-working environment can be related requirement under the Regulation No. 272/2011 Coll. "On the protection of health from the adverse effects of noise and vibration." Occupational noise limits for protected buildings interior space do not apply to noise from ordinary use of the apartment. Under current legislation, the problem is in the Czech Republic at present insoluble. Therefore, this work explores ways evaluation of impact sound and delivery is determined conclusions. With the low-frequency impact sound insulation is also related to the latter part of this dissertation, where the computing program ANSYS (version 14.0) is simulated laboratory measurements of impact sound insulation of the real structure. The paper presents the results of simulation, and the sound pressure level in the receiving room to třetinooktávového band 630 Hz. These results are compared with measured values modeled in the laboratory.
