Organization framework ¡V a Case Study of ASP services for B2B Collaboration in Supply Chain ManagementChiang, Kuo-Tung 12 September 2007 (has links)
For most of organizations initiating IT projects to improve the business performance, they could possibly face an opportunities lost and spend a huge project cost resulting in losing competence in making profit simply due to IT project failure. The senior managers in the organization need fully understand what kind resources and capabilities are required for the project team to ensure the success.
As value proposition addressed by ASP (application services provider), Software as a Service or on-demand application, it will allow organizations to only focus on the business needs and redesign the cross-functional and cross-organizational processes. Also the IT project could quickly show its striking value in a shorter time frame by outsourcing the technical works to application service provider.
In other words, ASP business model provide customers a new choice to access the system services via the internet. These solution providers not only develop the product and upgrade roadmaps but also operate and maintain the systems on behalf of the customers. It¡¦s also a method for the customers to enjoy the latest technology and professional services in an economical way.
The value of this research work is to analyze how the senior managers of the enterprise making the choices over different alternatives under the organizational constraints comprising successful stories, personal own experiences and used operational practices in the past. A case study of B2B supply chain collaboration project is used to revisit the managers¡¦ assumptions and elaborate how these organizational constraints are exercised in the project evaluation, decision and implementation cycle based on a generic evaluation and decision framework of B2B collaboration solutions.
This report intends to provide some insight and suggestions for the senior managers to take advantage of the opportunities and advantage, like the Software as a Service or On-demand applications, enabled by the internet world. An optimized decision can be possibly achieved only if the managers are aware of the invisible organizational constraints.

Apply the concepts of evidence-based medicine to develop the risk management strategy in hospital-acquired legionnaires¡¦ diseaseChien, Shang-Tao 12 June 2008 (has links)
Hospital-acquired Legionnaires¡¦ Disease (LD) is a bacterial pneumonia caused by the genus of Legionella. It is an opportunistic pathogen with the characteristic of widespread distribution in the environment. Its source of infection associates with potable water systems. Proactively culturing hospital water supply for Legionella as a strategy for prevention of nosocomial LD has been widely adopted in other countries. Nosocomial LDs has been hardly reported in Taiwan. In addition, environmental cultures of Legionella in potable water systems in hospitals have not been systematically implemented. Thus, the purpose of the research is to confirm if LD presents in the hospital in Taiwan, and developing risk management strategy in hospital-acquired LD.
To practice one-year prospective surveillance program for LD, we choose a military hospital in Southern Taiwan, collecting the specimens from the nosocomial and community-acquired pneumonia patients for legionella investigations. In the meanwhile, we collect water samples for hospital epidemiological investigation every 3 months. Isolated Legionella pneumophila is serotyped and analyzed by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis.
From Nov 1, 2006 to Oct 30, 2007, within 54 cases of nosocomial and 300 cases of community-acquired pneumonia, only one case of nosocomial LD was found. Environmental investigations detected L. pneumophila in 17(20.7%) of the 84 water samples, of which 82.4% (14/17) belonged to serogroup 1. The result demonstrated the infection source of the only positive case of nosocominal pneumonia is the potable water supply system of another hospital. In conclusion: 1. The infection source of nosocomial LD is the potable water supply system of the hospital. 2. The positive rate of distal outlets for L. pneumophila is a reasonable and reliable indicator in risk management for nosocomial LD. 3. Uncovered cases of nosocomial LD will be found in prospective clinical surveillance for LD. Suggestions: 1. Routine water-quality monitoring should be added in environmental water culture for L. pneumophila in the institution, such as hospital, nursing home, hotel, restaurant, SPA, swimming pool, hot spring, school, army, etc. 2. We advise that government health department carries out national surveillance for hospital water environment in determining the risk of hospital-acquired LD. 3. Education and training program need to be provided for medical staffs in the diagnostic skills of nosocomial LD to avoid misdiagnosing and delaying the treatment.

Construction of the system of production logistic in supply chain : The fit of manpower and information technologyLee, Wang-liang 04 July 2008 (has links)
The enterprise battlefield is estate, enterprise is among estate competitiveness manage the success or failure key. Though M. Porter brings forward competition strategy think: Enterprise will be confronted with ¡¥stuck in the middle¡¦ awkward situation if being able to not to choose from cost leadership, differentiation and focus strategy alternative. Afterwards, Porter indicates that in one book "Country Competitive Advantage ": Have a lot of enterprise indeed cost to be led with differentiation use together, and have the fine achievement effect; In other words, if cost leadership and differentiation manage to be used simultaneously, both multiply effect general stronger.
In supply chain, the production logistics system must give consideration to cost, quality, deliver achievement effects such as scheduled time and safety; Except taking that cost leadership as target, field delivering customer regard such as scheduled time and safety in quality, is shown differentiation, is also that the tactics planning and management taking supply chain as the lifting competitive advantage competing for unit times middle, entire supply chain planning and management system manages a target. How will the production logistics system of modern enterprise change to adapt to the new tactics plan under give consideration to cost leadership and differentiation strategies?
Study is from case study according to Task-Technology Fit Theory originally, produce what logistics management acts as role in development process of knowing the case company supplying chain in estate, manpower includes topic for discussion and method of work encountered by whose especially with information technology complementing each other; Interview studying process is middle, being to permeate a depth mainly, that discusses the collocation relevance document with the viewpoint, arrange out reference pattern of may be for estate's supplying chain construction the system producing a logistics management of having competition. Childbirth studying main observation is limited originally logistics management reality affair, the pad `produces the planning and management' pattern , hopes a modest spur to induce someone to come forward with his valuable contributions with construction, develop so-called ¡¥production logistics¡¦ theory.

Abstract
The situation of the world varies from minute to minute, and the market of the traditional industry changes fast also. Many parameters occur which challenge and strike against the highly polluted, low profit textile and dyeing-finishing industry. For instance, the issue of the global warming keeps spreading influence the whole world such as American and Europe to place more attention on the ecological environment. Second, the lack of the energy and natural resources raise the prime cost. Next, the opportunity the World Trade Organization (WTO) gives to the trade market forms a more competitive international relationship around the world.
The difficulties and the threat the textile and dyeing-finishing industry meets urge the industry to find their way out. They should analyze the industrial structure and the international benefits, and find an alternative proposal and key success factor to create the competitive edge of their own. Furthermore, the best choice among all the solutions is that the industry should catch the world wave, producing environmentally friendly green product and devoting to lower the emission of the carbon dioxide (CO2¡^ during the producing process. This decision can not only lower the prime cost and earn more profits for the enterprise but also promote the corporate image. Moreover, when talking to establish the goal of reforming strategy, the enterprise should strengthen the integration of the inner and outer resource. Through the cluster model of the industrial structure they can support each other, forming the best green supply chain. Only through the above procedures can the enterprise maintain their long-lasting competitive advantage. Therefore, the paper is going to focus on the textile and dyeing-finishing industry in terms of : (1) the difficulties of the industry. (2) the turning point for the industry- the green supply chain. (3) the key success factor of the reforming strategy. (4) the perspective and opinion from experts and scholars. (5) the implication and conclusion.

Adsorption Characteristics of Fulvic Acid Derivated from Raw Water onto Carbon NanotubesHuang, Wei-Hsiang 23 July 2009 (has links)
Organic acids are usually the reactants which proceed in chlorination reaction into products of disinfection by-products in water treatment plant. The purpose of this study is by using tests of kinetics and equilibrium adsorptions to investigate adsorption characteristics and kinetic model evaluations of selected organic acid in solution. We use commercial carbon nano-tube for the adsorbents. The major factors in adsorption tests include the concentration of fulvic acid (a typical organic acid in raw water), pH, ionic strength and temperature. Experiment results exhibited kinetic adsorption reached equilibrium about 120 minutes, the adsorption capacity increased with concentrations increasing of fulvic acid and decreased with ionic strengths. The best selection in kinetic models evaluation, fitting models such as Modified Freundlich equation, Pseudo-1st-order equation and Pesudo-2nd-oder equation is Modified Freundlch equation model. In addition, intraparticle diffusion equation model was fitted well and showed adsorption process was controlled with pore diffusion. The maximum adsorption capacity varied from 26.094 to 20.772 mg/g when temperature ranging from 4 to 45¢J. Isotherm adsorption results were fitted on Langmuir and Freundich models. The £GG¢X values ranged from -0.930 to -1.014 kcal/mol, £GH¢X:-1.561 kcal/mol and £GS¢X:-2.02 cal/mol. Thermodynamic parameters indicated that the adsorption is spontaneously and an exothermic reaction. Adsorption of fulvic acid by carbon nano-tube has a good performance when operation conditions of higher fulvic acid concentration, lower ionic strength, lower pH and lower temperature.

A Study on the Implementation of collaborative mechanism for strategy goal In Enterprise with system dynamicsHsu, I-Ching 28 August 2009 (has links)
With the development of scientific and technological progress, electronic products are replaced rapidly and the products¡¦ life cycles are shorter than before. Therefore, products¡¦ price are reducing sharply due to market is unpredictable. Electronics Manufacturing Service (EMS) companies are facing competitive pressure with speedy production and price reduction continuously. Moreover, under the phenomenon of the bigger corporation the better operation and economic of scale leading the industry competition, cost and speed are part of key factors to be survival consequently. If medium and small size EMS companies cannot match customers¡¦ requirement, their future to the consequence will be closed or be merged. Hence, to perform an individual company¡¦s competitive ability cannot only rely on internal resource and capability, but also cross boundary between each company. This means companies could win the opportunities by cooperating with customers and supplier in the same supply chain. ¡§Collaborative Commerce¡¨ as productive management skill is for this reason an important research topic recently in business administration.
This research applies ¡§System Dynamics Theory¡¨ to collect the relative data and built up a model to achieve the case company¡¦s structure. According to the industry¡¦s characteristic, the researcher simulated and analyzed the incidence of applying collaborative commerce. Moreover, the researcher also discussed the case company¡¦s variance under different dimension, i.e. management strategy, processes of collaborative operation, and benefit anticipated. As a result, applying collaborative commerce provide a good explanation on how it is important for a company to coordinate with external resource, upgrade a company¡¦s management efficiency and adjust a company¡¦s strategy.
The conclusions of this research were as followed.
Firstly, because of the demand¡¦s uncertainty, inventory was also variance and this was called ¡§Bullwhip Effect¡¨. Moreover, triple collaboration was more efficiency to solve the problem from Bullwhip Effect and reduce the loss occurring by inventory variance.
Secondly, the results were not certainly equal between originator and participator. However, Collaborative Commerce can provide effective function for supply chain on productive management.
Thirdly, we could monitor the problems of collaboration function while applying dynamical simulation method in practical business and examine the executive outcome. Moreover, this could also be a research instrument when companies analyze Supply Chain Collaboration.

Campesino community participation in watershed managementGalewski, Nancy 08 July 2010 (has links)
A series of threats face campesino communities' water management practices in the Callejón de Huaylas (upper region of the Santa Watershed). Competition for water resources is escalating due to increasing demand, decreasing supply, and a rise in contamination levels, leaving campesino communities in a precarious state as a result of their marginalized position in Peruvian society. Competition for water resources occurs between upstream and downstream users and amongst sectors including mining, agriculture, hydropower, and domestic water users. The national government recently passed an integrated water resource management system to improve water governance. However, bureaucratic tendencies make it unlikely that campesinos will receive an adequate share of resources.
Campesino communities in the Callejón need to adopt new strategies to improve their position vis á-vis other sectors and resist capture of resources. Campesinos are important to the discussion of water resource management because they have long established systems of self-regulated management and need to be included in the new system of watershed governance. This research first examines local water management strategies and integrated water management through four characteristics: 1) how is water framed, 2) is decision-making participatory, 3) is water management appropriate to the local and regional level, and 4) is it possible to monitor activity and impose consequences for unauthorized water usage. Interviews with campesino community members and leaders, local officials, regional representatives, and non-governmental organizations found opportunities to collaborate between groups and transfer some management responsibilities to a more regional watershed scale. Second, this research examines the opportunities and barriers to scaling up traditional management practices to meet regional needs while ensuring local water availability. Scaling decision-making is imperative for successful integrated water management and will allow campesino communities to continue to manage their water to meet local needs. Shifting the decision-making scale may facilitate more effective watershed governance with campesino community participation.
