The Applicability of the PICTS-SV in Offenders with Severe Substance Use Histories

Williams, Margot Maryanne 08 1900 (has links)
Two important developments are addressed by this dissertation. First, the Psychological Inventory of Criminal Thinking Styles-Simplified Version (PICTS-SV) was examined in relation to the original PICTS. Second, the vulnerability of the PICTS-SV to intentional risk minimization (RM) was tested. Two separate studies recruited a total of 150 offenders from a court-mandated residential substance use treatment facility. As expected, Study I established the PICTS-SV's good concurrent validity with the PICTS, especially at the broad composite scale level. For Study II, criminal thinking failed to show the anticipated convergence with HCR-20 risk classifications or forensic correlates. Potential explanations, including a restricted range of risk levels in this sample, are discussed. As a particular strength, the findings highlight that the PICTS-SV, in contrast to many risk measures, displays robust resistance to RM distortion, although revisions to its Df-r validity scale are warranted. These results overall demonstrate strong evidence of the PICTS-SV's utility for assessing a dynamic criminogenic need to inform effective interventions and accurate risk determinations.

K. I. Dientzenhofer ve službách Tovaryšstva Ježíšova / K. I. Dientzenhofer at the service of the Society of Jesus

Kučerová, Mariana January 2019 (has links)
K. I. Dientzenhofer in the service of Society of Jesus Abstract The Diploma Thesis aims to map the famous Jesuit religious buildings arising in the Czech kingdom by the hands of Kilian Ignac Dientzenhofer, as well as some smaller foundations or now-defunct constructions. Firstly it is the rural residences in Liběšice and the completion of the construction in Tuchoměřice or the dispensary in Smíchov, which has been demolished in 1930. Furthermore, the Holy Mountain Steps, which were only partially implemented according to the Dientzenhofer proposal. The Thesis also includes constructions where the architect's authorship is not proven, such as the Chapel of Sts. Archangel Michael in Kozinec and Chapel of Sts. Cross in Středokluky. An important part is also the effort to put these buildings into the context of the work of the younger Dientzenhofer and to get a closer look at the perception of their clients, including the typology of the architectural order within the function. Keywords The Church of St. Francis Xavier, the Church of St. Clement, the Church of St. Nicholas, the Church of St. Bartholomew, Prague, Opařany, Odolena Voda, Lesser Town, Tuchoměřice, Liběšice, radical Baroque, K. Pivovar ve městě, město v pivovaru - architektonicko urbanistická studie přestavby znojemského pivovaru / Brewery in the city, the city in the brewery - architectural and urban redevelopment of a brewery in Znojmo

Pončík, Martin January 2012 (has links)
The solved site is located in the historic town of Znojmo, on the site of the former castle. Its unique position not only adds significant urban areas, but are an integral part of the city skyline. There is one of the most important monuments in the country, Rotunda of St. Catherine (annually visited by tourists to 20000) and former brewery Hostan. The operation ended here and the city bought the land with buildings. There is now the question of what to do with the place and where to get funds for its cultivation. The main idea is to expand the urban areas and the structure of the brewery premises. The spatial concept is based on a pedestrian street leading from the entry of the city to the rotunda, lined with town houses and buildings with shops, housing and services. The aim is to maintain the existing street brewery trail as part of the development and create space for a typical town of Znojmo. South route would remain in its original state, would continue to serve as a lookout trail flowing into the area around the rotunda, accompanied only by peaceful summer terrace offering views of the surrounding area. Around the rotunda is created a cultivated park area used for recreation and offering beautiful views of the surrounding area. Thanks to the closed square and the location of the rotunda it becomes the dominant area. Northern route would be connected with the area by the stairs from the panoramic terrace. It could thus become a valuable space that would serve to stay and rest. It is important to the influx of new services also solve the parking, which will be located in the parking house. There are parking stacker designed to minimize space requirements. This will ensure the required parking space without negatively affecting the street spaces. Panorama of small buildings will be revived by integrating with the surrounding with the recovery of its original landmark - the tower. It will be part of the former Northern Justice, which will be used as a park area designated for sport and recreation. The tower would serve the prospect of an observatory on top of offering the prospect of the surrounding area during the day and evening look at the night sky. The square will be closed by parking house, which will conclude the street Přemyslovců composition. All necessary utilities will be held in Castle Street.

Městská knihovna v Přerově / City Library of Přerov

Černá, Daniela January 2012 (has links)
The main goal of this thesis is to prove the suitability of the chosen locality called “Na Marku“ for building of a new object – the City Library in Přerov. The project shows one of the possible solutions, which takes into account keeping part of the archeological findings in this locality and its access to the public. As the building would be located on the banks of the river Bečva, organic materials have been suggested for the building, which would harmonize with the river and the town.

Genomic Structural Variation Across Five Continental Populations of Drosophila melanogaster

Long, Evan Michael 01 April 2018 (has links)
Chromosomal structure variations (SV) including insertions, deletions, inversions, and translocations occur within the genome and can have a significant effect on organismalphenotype. Some of these effects are caused by structural variations containing genes. Modern sequencing using short reads makes the detection of large structural variations (> 1kb) very difficult. Large structural variations represent a significant amount of the genetic diversity within a population. We used a global sampling of Drosophila melanogaster (Ithaca, Zimbabwe, Beijing, Tasmania, and Netherlands) to represent diverse populations. We used long-read sequencing and optical mapping technologies to identify SVs in these genomes. Because the average read length used for these approaches are much longer than traditional short read sequencing, these maps facilitate the identification of chromosomal SVs of greater size and with more clarity. We found a wide diversity of structural variations in each of the five strains. These structural variations varied greatly in size and location, and significantly affected exonic regions of the genome. Structural variations accounted for a much larger difference in number of base pairs between strains than single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs).

Volatility & The Black Swan : Investigation of Univariate ARCH-models, HARRV and Implied Volatility in Nasdaq100 amid Covid19

Tingstedt, Karl January 2022 (has links)
Covid19 hit the world’s financial markets by surprise in March 2020 and ensuing volatility marked an end to the prior low-volatility environment. This Black Swan engendered numerous publications establishing how the equity market responded to the exogenous shock. However, there is no applicable comparison to Nasdaq100 regarding how models perform during extreme conditions such as ante, amid and post Covid19. Furthermore, goodness of fit together with forecasting accuracy are further examined in the light of new intra-day data from Oxford Man Institute covering this time-period. This thesis presents a comparison of volatility models incorporating economic intuition, sentiment, historical values of volatility and stochastics. By exploiting intra-day at 5 min interval the trade-off between noise and loss of valuable information effectively kept at a minimum yielding considerable robustness to the thesis’ result. Linear ARCH-models, Implied Volatility and HARRV applied with the addition of several different combinations of hold-out periods enable multiple vantagepoints for evaluation. This thesis finds HARRV’s series of one-step ahead prediction of future conditional volatility to be superior throughout all hold-out periods. I am able to present empirical evidence supporting the idea that HARRV’s additive cascades of volatility is superior to sentiment-driven implied volatility and ARCH-models pertaining to Nasdaq100.

Pražský obraz Sv. Lukáš maluje Madonu od Jana Gossaerta zv. Mabuse / The Prague painting Saint Luke painting the Virgin by Jan Gossaert called Mabuse

Hamrlová, Anna January 2014 (has links)
The National Gallery in Prague conserves an important masterpiece of the Fle- mish mannerist Jan Gossaert. The panel painting Saint Luke painting the Virgin was originally determined for the cathedral of Saint Roumboult in Mechelen in Belgium. The artwork represents one of the first applications of Renaissance style behind the Alps. Gossaert was educated in this new style during a visit to Italy several years earlier and combined it with traditional Flemish art. The artist worked for the court of Margaret of Austria in Mechelen around the year 1513, the year the painting originates. His traditional style became influenced by the techniques used in Mechelen by foreign artists. The theme is painted the tradi- tional manner of work on an oak panel. Renaissance and Gothic architecture is decorated by " en grisaille" sculptures. A seemingly simple theme is given deeper meaning thanks to these objects containing hidden meanings. There are also some prints from the time the panel was in the Saint Vitus Cathedral in Prague due to which we can contemplate the progress in presentation of the painting during centuries. 1
