In the diploma work named Memory and Reminiscence Training and in Domov sv. Jiří in Plzeň I deal with the above mentioned topic in theory and practice. The main aim of the work is to describe the aims, methods and techniques of the memory and reminiscence training by the seniors in the retirement home sv. Jiří. The partial objective is to state the benefits of the memory and reminiscence training from the point of view of the workers and residents of the retirement home. In the theoretical part I specify the issue of ageing and the old age and the issue of the memory and its components. Further to this part there is a description of the memory training and practical illustrations of the memory training and individual exercises. In the reminiscence part I deal with the specification of this term, the reminiscence therapy, the methods that support reminiscence and reminiscence boxes. The last chapter of the theoretical part deals with the failures in cognitive functions. In the practical part I give a description of the qualitative research in the retirement home of sv. Jiří where I carried out a course of the memory and reminiscence training within 15 meetings with the home residents. The research sample consisted of 10 seniors and 10 workers. For the research I used the half-guided dialogue method and the participant observation, and the research questions comprised of identifications questions, questions on memory training and questions on reminiscence. In the methodology part I describe the memory training methods, the course realization and the research sample. I also deal with the description of the retirement home of sv. Jiří and its establisher Městská charita Plzeň. As the outcomes of the qualitative research there are the case studies based on the carried out dialogues and the participant observation. In the discussion I comapare the achieved results of the research with the theory. I also describe my experience from the course of the memory and reminiscence training and its individual meetings with the seniors, I assess the opinions of the workers and the benefit of the memory and reminiscence training. In the conclusion I deal with the assessment of the whole work, especially its aim, and the benefits of the memory and reminiscence training in the retirement home of sv. Jiří in Plzeň.

The thesis focused on the particular phases of christianization of Poland which occured with Czech or Moravian participation, i.e. influences of mission of Cyril and Methodius in Poland, marriage of Polish princ Mieszko with Czech prince-daughter Dobroslava and his subsequent baptism and foundation of archiepiscopate in Gniezno above the tomb of St. Adalbert. Taking into account the historical and territorial developement of the considered area the thesis is divided into three parts. The first chapter is dedicated to christianization of the southern Poland. The mission of Cyril and Methodius should be heading into this area in the end of 9th century. After carefull examining of written sources and results of current research one can say, that it is not possible to confirm any Great-Moravian influences on the christianization of southern Poland. Similar results were reached also in the case of Czech participation in the process accepting of Christian faith in the second half of the 10th century. This thesis contributes to research that informs the design of autonomous vehicles (AVs). It examines interactions among various types of road users, such as pedestrians and drivers, and describes how findings can contribute to the design of AVs. The work was undertaken as part of a research internship at Nissan Research Center-Silicon Valley on the Human Understanding in Design team. Methods included video ethnography “travel-alongs” which captured the experience of travel from the point of view of drivers and pedestrians, analysis of interaction patterns taken from video of intersections, and analysis of road laws. Findings address the implications of what it will mean for AVs to exist as social entities in a world of varied road contexts, and how AVs might navigate the social act of driving on roads they share with a variety of human users. This thesis contributes to an emerging body of research and application on the subject of the AV in the world.

The thesis The Sisters of Mercy of St. Borromeo on example selected institutions of social care 1948-1989 is focused at three institutions of social care for mentally handicapped persons, in which The Sisters of Mercy of St. Borromeo worked during the communist régime. The aim of the work is not only to compile the history and development of the three researched institutes of social care from the available primary sources but also to analyze and compare the information found in the conclusion. In the final analysis, we follow mainly the beginnings of individual institutes, then the lives of sisters and inmates in all examined institutes, and in the end we focus on the termination of the work of nuns in individual institutes. The first of the examined places is the institute of social care in Hrabice, where nuns worked from 1949 to 1989. The second of the researched institutes was located in the years 1953 to 1983 in the village of Komorní Lhotka. The third research institute was located in the town of Česká Kamenice, where nurses worked there from 1953 to 1980. The master thesis "Roman baroque building elements on St. Joseph church compared to other churches in Central Europe" deals with Roman buildings features in the Carmelite nuns church of St. Joseph in the Lesser Town of Prague. It elucidates the main architectural theme, which is using the architectonic elements of the dome of St. Peter's basilica in the interior of the church of St. Joseph. The thesis sums facts about Abraham Paris - the most probable author of the ground plan. Apart from the detailed description St. Joseph church, the chapters devoted to architecture describe also some Roman churches which might have served as models for St. Joseph church. The thesis further mentions the influence of contemporary philosophical views on emerging baroque buildings in Rome and in Bohemia. The thesis also includes examples of using architectonic elements from famous Roman buildings understood as a way to communicate certain ideological intentions. Canonization of Saint Thomas Aquinas Abstract This thesis inquires into the canonization process of Thomas Aquinas, in relation to specific circumstances and general usage of the era on the field of canonizing saints. While at the grave of the reverend master, miracles were produced and the popular cult was rising, on western universities, a doctrinal dispute has flared up which touched Thomas' doctrine, as well. The case has not be resolved untill nearly fifty years, when the pope John XXII has shown interest in canonizing one important personality of Dominican order. The choice fell on Thomas. The minor friars, protected by the roman king Louis IV the Bavarian, oposed but the pope got his purpose through, and so Thomas' learning became the leading stream in theology and thinking. The aim of this thesis is to approach period specificities of the cult of saints and canonization processes, to outline a brief history of Thomas' way to canonization and following occurrences, and to try to figure out broader context of the process, evaluating the importance of particular aspects at the same time. Verbal Expressions of Reverence for St. John of Nepomuk in Vilém Bitnar's Saint-John- Questionnaire The goal of this thesis is a description of verbal expressions of reverence (legends, songs, prayers etc.) for St. John of Nepomuk in the Czech lands, which were collected by Výbor svatojanský in the questionnaire edited by Vilém Bitnar. This questionnaire was sent out to Czech and Moravian parishes at the occasion of the 200th anniversary of canonization of St. John of Nepomuk in 1929 and now it is deposited in the Literary Archive of the Museum of Czech Literature in Bitnar's estate. The mutual points in the questionnaire are seeked as well as regional specifics. These are situated into context of trends in religious life in the Czech lands in 1920s in general and also of relationship between contemporary Czech society and the Roman Catholic Church with reverence for St. John of Nepomuk. The dissertation deals with the influence of orography on the spatial distribution of heavy precipitation in the territory of the northeast Moravia and Silesia. The area was chosen because of the specific distribution of daily precipitation for heavy rainfall events in the past and also in May 2010. Cases of heavy rainfall for the period 1961 - 1995 are balanced with morphometric characteristics in the place and in the surrounding the station, defineted in face of direction air flow. For the calculation of the direction air flow are used data from 850 hPa level from reanalysis ERA-40, topographic characteristics are calculated by ArcGIS and they are correlated with the rain gauge data from stations ČHMÚ. The results show us that only the altitude does not have effect on the spatial distribution of precipitation, but it should be think over more topographic parameters. During the north and partially during the west air flow, where the precipitation are mostly from the stratiform clouds, appears a stronger orography influence on the measurement and on the spatial distribution, if we consider the morphometric characteristics behind the station in the direction of air flow. This thesis aims to capture the life and activities of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Cyril and Methodius from its foundation until present time. Utilising both the archives of the congregation and secondary literature this thesis attempts to chart the complete history of the congregation. Current state of the congregation is described primarily by using the method of oral history, this method being the most suitable for this purpose. The aim of this thesis is also to highlight the pastoral and social workings of the Congregation, which has been its foundation since the beginning of the Congregation and continues to this day. I dag är det väldigt vanligt att SVA-elever undervisas i samma grupp som SV-elever, dvs. i samma klassrum, vilket kan innebära att lärarna inte har utbildning i språkutvecklande arbetssätt för SVA-elever. Utifrån kvalitativa och kvantitativa ansatser undersökte vi språkutvecklande arbetssätt vid andraspråksinlärning i årskurs 4–6. Genom semistrukturerade intervjuer via videosamtal undersökte vi vad sex mellanstadielärare använder för undervisningsstrategier för att främja elevernas språkutveckling, och genom en digital enkät som besvarades av 30 SVA-elever tog vi reda på elevernas erfarenheter och vilka undervisningsstrategier de önskar att lärarna ska använda. Undervisningsstrategier som lärarna använder som stöds av litteratur och teori är cirkelmodellen, digitala artefakter, modersmål som resurs och sociala samspel (muntliga aktiviteter). En viktig slutsats i vår studie är att modersmål som resurs är en effektiv strategi att använda i arbetet för att främja språkutvecklingen hos andraspråkselever, men de två lärare som inte hade utbildning i SVA höll fast vid enspråkighetsnormen. Eleverna önskar att läraren tillämpar fler muntliga aktiviteter i undervisningen samt att de ska få använda sina modersmål i undervisningen. Vad gäller förberedelseklass anser de lärare som har erfarenhet av att arbeta i förberedelseklass att det ger mycket stöttning, men att eleverna kan känna sig utanför, och de flesta eleverna svarade i enkäten att de kände sig utanför när de gick förberedelseklass.
