: En granskning av läsförståelsestrategiers omfattning i läromedel på gymnasienivå / Active and conscious readers – from A to Z? : A study of the extent of reading comprehension strategies in textbooks designed for upper secondary school level

Lindgren, Sofie, Linnér, Nathalie January 2020 (has links)
The aim of this study is to investigate how reading comprehension strategies appear in three textbooks designed for Swedish 1 at Swedish upper secondary school level. The study uses a content analysis to investigate the frequency of each reading comprehension strategies, how they are presented and which strategies that are integrated with student tasks. The result shows that there is a difference between which reading comprehension strategies that got the most space in each textbook and how each textbook presents the strategies. Based on Palinscar & Brown, Bråten & Samelstuen and Dymock & Nicholson's models for reading comprehension strategy usage, every strategy was found – except for visualizing which was missing in one of the textbooks. The conclusion from this study is that reading comprehension strategies appear in textbooks for Swedish upper secondary school level but the students are not always aware that they are using them which is important to develop reading comprehension.

Innehållet i Magasinet och Ess i svenska utifrån styrdokument och betygskriterier

Fritzson, Sandra January 2012 (has links)
This study focuses on two text books, Magasinet and Ess i svenska, both common teaching material in Swedish schools. Since Swedish school system recently got a new curriculum and grading criteria, the purpose with this essay was to see how well the teaching materials used in school match the new documents. Since the subject has not really been studied before, the chapter containing recent studies focuses on layout, appearance and contents of good teaching material. The survey that I have implemented includes studies of the two text books, with comparison of the new curriculum, grading criteria and previous studies of what makes a good text book. Conclusions were that Magasinet is very comprehensive and match the criteria and curriculum very well, even though it spans over four classes and has to cover a lot of information. However, since it covers so much information, each section sometimes feels not as thorough as it perhaps should have been. Ess i svenska on the other hand, is a good complement to use in ninth grade, if you have studied the previous books for seventh and eight grade in the series. Though, with Ess i svenska on its own, it could be hard for the students to reach the passing grades since it sometimes lacks a proper description of the working process and does not cover all the criteria in the curriculum.

Do textbooks in Swedish as a Second Language contain examples of various literary genres from different part of the world? : An analysis of the teachingmaterials Skolporten and Kontext of the course Swedish as a Second Language at secondary school.

Sahlberg, Caroline January 2014 (has links)
According to the Curriculum for the course Swedish as a Second Language, one objective of the course is that it should contain literature from various genres and cultures and that the texts should be written by women as well as men. In 2012, there were two different textbooks to be used in the teaching of the course Swedish as a Second Language 1;  Kontext, Svenska som andraspåk 1 by Eva Hedencrona and Karin Smed-Gerdin and Språkporten, Svenska som andraspråk 1 2 3 by Monika Åström. The authors of both text books claim that their books meet the objectives of the course Swedish as a Second Language. I have analyzed the text books using a product-oriented and ideology critical method in order to study how well the text books meet the objectives of the course as well as to study where the items unfold and what they are about. I have found that neither Kontext nor Språkporten meet the objectives. Kontext is lacking texts from several continents. However, several different genres are represented in the book. Almost all authors come from Europe, particularly from Sweden. Two-thirds of the authors are men.  Språkporten on the other hand, mainly consists of newspaper articles or teaching materials texts. Only a few genres and continents are represented in the book. More than one third of the texts are written by the author herself. Of the remaining articles, two-thirds of the authors are women.
