The Research of Vertical Integration in Taiwan TFT-LCD Industry.

TFT-LCD industry had been developed rapidly in Taiwan. Our value of output in FDP field was became the world first in 2007,it was one of the most important industry that drive economic advancement in our country. In order to keep the competition in TFT-LCD industry,to produce the relative components and material locally is the must way in the future.And many manufacturers strengthen their relationships with the component suppliers positively to reduce the production cost and enhance their ability of vertical integration. The purpose of this research is to study the benefit of vertical integration in TFT-LCD industry.We discuss the definition,types,the motive and benefit in the part of theory and use it as the foundation of case study.In the part of case study,we took CMO as our object to study the vertical integration relationship between the vendors in supply chain. By collecting the secondary material and case interview to get the information to analyze the present situation and the future tendency of vertical integration in CMO. We generalize some conclusions as follows. 1.Cost is the key factor of vertical integration in TFT-LCD industry. 2.Technique independence is the key factor of vertical integration in TFT-LCD industry. 3.Stable supply is key factor of vertical integration in TFT-LCD industry. 4.Special area of TFT-LCD industry could strengthen the benefit of vertical integration.

Discuss the International Merging Activities in Human Resource Management Point of View-According to the Case of TFT-LCD Industry at Taiwan and Japan

First of all, we put an emphasis on the global market status of TFT-LCD, which is also our government¡¦s most important economic investment in the near future. We think it is necessary for Taiwan cooperating with Japan to reach the global No.1 place in TFT-LCD industry since Japan initiates and masters many related technologies. A-Company; however, gets such right chance for multinational combination by taking good use of some key factors¡Xorganization integration, communication and human resources management. Because TFT-LCD products get short-lasting life and fast-advancing technology, A-Company must be greatly expanding its investment annually. Although the company has independent technologies, it still has to rapidly enhance its competitiveness on global purchase, global distribution and global service through making cooperation with other technical corporations. Thus, how to take advantage of both companies¡¦ interior resources to create even more high values is meaningful to A-Company. This research shows that organization integration, personal factors, organization promises and individual defense will affect merger achievements. We design a questionnaire and use SPSS for quantification analysis to strengthen the reliability and validity of our research. Lastly, we bring out the final results and conclusions for A-Company reference. According to the questionnaire we find out that, A-Company employees think the high-level managers play quite an important role in the organization integration; their communication and expression on human resource management will directly affect merger achievements. Nevertheless, the company seems not participate in the consolidating planning before combination and not elaborate on the communication after that which leads it into negative effects after combination. From this, we deeply realize that ¡§Manpower¡¨ is the most emphasized resource for consolidating business. Our conclusion is that many failure factors of overseas or domestic combination business are also applied to TFT-LCD Company, and therefore, we think that the success factors during its merger can be imitated by other industries as well. Anyhow, it¡¦s a real pity for A-Company¡¦s not taking good application to academic researches and some successful measures from other business. In sum, there are not only multinational cooperation but also multicultural races merging in the special TFT-LCD industry which reveals a fact that the affiliation of academia will speed up this industry¡¦s growth.

In industrial competition¡A business cost is reduced by the strategies such as the enhancement of production efficiency¡A the reformation of operational procedure¡A and the expansion of economic scale to have the enterprise enhance its competitiveness in encountering the competitive external environmental changes for securing a favorable status in business operation. The framing and implementing of successful strategies depend on the wisdom and daring of the business operator in leading the enterprise. Hence¡A the business operator or the high-level executives¡¦ leadership in the organization as well as the perception and daring in business planning play a critical role in determining the success or failure of an enterprise. The focus of this study is on exploring how the TFT-LCD high-level executives in the high-tech industry under high-tech¡A capital-intensive¡A and competitive TFT-LCD environment use their keen perceptions and management concept in leading the organization to break through the dilemma by plant establishment¡A plant expansion¡A and investment expansion¡A and have a dominating status in the TFT-LCD industry. The research interests are as the followings¡G 1.To understand the differences of the management concepts among the high-level executives of various enterprises in the environment with intensive-capital risks. 2.To understand the ways of the TFT-LCD industry in Taiwan for breaking through the plight under international competition. 3.To compare the management notions of the high-level executives in TFT-LCD industry with those of the world celebrated enterprise leaders. Quantifiable research cluster effect: the diamond model

Micheal Porter ¡§the country competitive advantage which¡¨ publishes in 1990 (The Competitive Advantage of Nations) in a book, proposed the industrial cluster the strong character which acts in the national competitive power, ¡§scientific and technical park¡¨ the idea is also the industrial cluster concept derivation to a certain extent. In the past concentrated in the industrial cluster's research in the metropolis plan study and the regional economies domain, few had the management science stratification plane discussion, after 1990 Micheal Porter publication diamond model (Diamond Structure model), grew the industrial cluster's research to further management stratification plane in and so on enterprise's strategy, competition, market demand and industrial structure subjects. However, Porter in the diamond model, had not mentioned how to compare and appraise between the different cluster the cluster effect height, is also lacks a set to be possible the quantification model. In order to solve in the Porter diamond model to lack the quantification model the question, this research application analogism, quotes Newton (1687) the law of universal gravitation which proposed in "Natural philosophy's Mathematics Principle" to take the analogy, develops the cluster relative effect the comparison model, explained why during different essential factor in an industrial settlement's will have the cohesion phenomenon, will form the cluster effect finally. In this study, Central and Southern Taiwan Science Park's TFT-LCD industry as the research object, evaluation of these two science parks in the TFT-LCD industry cluster effect on the merits, to verify the model's feasibility in real life. In the final results, will be the evaluation of the scores of small movements do multiply, the two parks, the Southern Taiwan Science Park to obtain higher scores, it can be said that the Southern Taiwan Science Park, TFT-LCD industry cluster effect higher. By Porter in the diamond model's five big essential factor classification, in ¡§factor of conditions¡¨ and ¡§related and supporting industry¡¨ in these two essential factors, the Southern Taiwan Science Park was in the upper hand; In ¡§demand condition¡¨ and ¡§firm strategy, structure and rivalry¡¨ on, is the Central Taiwan Science Park holds the superiority; As for in last item ¡§government and opportunity¡¨ in the comparison, two campuses are equally matched. Finally, also at the Central Taiwan Science Park and Southern Taiwan Science Park development on the current problems faced by comment, I hope the next government as a policy planning in the industrial park on the proposal, which is newly developed in this study "cluster can be quantified effect model "where the ultimate goal.

A Study Based on the Value System for the Interaction of the Multi-Tiered Supply Chain in the E-Business Trends

Based on the analysis of value chain and value system, this research investigated the multi-tiered supply chain industry, which are four processes to be followed. First, the research analyzed the value chains and value system in one industry to find out the critical value activities. Second, this research probed into the supply chain integration strategy to plan the future business strategies, which were divided into the upward and downward integration strategies. Third, the interaction of the enterprises in the industry supply chain was investigated by the process analysis approach to draw up the appropriate supply chain processes. Finally, after the strategy analysis of the supply chain, simulation tools were utilized to simulate the real situations in the multi-tiered industry, which could be one basis of solving the suffering problems.

A Study of Collaborative Forecasting mechanism for Panel Maker In Taiwan TFT-LCD Industry

Bullwhip effect is the situation that the order information distortion resulted from time delay and expectation of the demand. Through the order information distortion, the inventory of upstream suppliers raised and fluctuated, thus the operation cost of suppliers increased. Although the down stream customer seems to exempts from such disaster, but the cost increase in the upstream supplier will cause the raising of the purchasing cost of those downstream customers. The raising cost and inefficiency will be the burden of whole supply chain and not single party can exempts such result. Supply chain collaboration is aimed to solve such problems. This study explode the operations of supply chain collaboration from a integration perspective to understand the value of collaborative forecasting for the supply chain operations. Taiwan TFT-LCD industry will be the platform of this study, base on the platform, system dynamics models will be build up and simulated to analyze the effectiveness of collaborative forecasting model under different demand patterns. The result of this study can be the reference when adopting collaboration in Taiwan TFT-LCD industry.

目前管理文獻對於智慧資源規劃的探討仍著重在概念及方法的釐清和探索,因此本研究欲以智慧資源規劃觀點,進行TFT-LCD產業的實證研究,以冀能對政府產業政策與產業經營者提供具體的產業智慧資源規劃策略,促進TFT-LCD產業的良性發展。 在研究方法上,本研究先探討智慧資源規劃策略,並分析智慧資源規劃之產業策略效益,進而提供產業政策與企業決策參考。其次界定智慧資源規劃的重要因素,建立智慧資源規劃之重要構面,以建立與實施智慧資源規劃策略。最後選擇TFT-LCD產業作為實證研究,提供智慧資源規劃之理論和實務連結的參考。 □□在研究結果上,台灣產業應積極建構上游設備、原物料和關鍵零組件的供應鏈,並需建立緊密的品牌及通路的聯盟關係。因應TFT-LCD產業必須面對的智慧財產權成本與風險,智慧財產權之佈署和經營,也必須連結到產業結構、供應鏈和價值鏈之上中下游關係。在產業政策上,政府應積極提高上游零組件自製比率與發展設備產業,對於西進大陸議題,政府的產業政策似應採取更積極開放的管理措施。同時政府應協助企業建立智慧財產交易和管理相關的技術資料庫與市場資料庫,並積極培育進行國際智慧財產侵權訴訟的專業法律與管理人才,才能提升台灣TFT-LCD產業的國際競爭力, □□b後續的研究中,可進行台灣、韓國、日本及大陸的跨國研究和產業政策分析,而跨時間及地域的產業實證研究,將可對TFT-LCD產業有深入的觀察與分析。至於各企業的專利佈局與專利訴訟策略,需進行產品結構與技術結構和專利訴訟策略與專利策略聯盟的深入分析 / This thesis would like to initiate TFT LCD industry empirical research from the point of intellectual resource planning to provide solid industry intellectual resource planning strategy for industry policy and enterprise decision maker. As to the research result, Taiwan TFT LCD industry shall establish the supply chain of equipment, raw material and key component and organize close alliance of brand and channel. Responding to TFT industry high intellectual property cost and risk, the management and arrangement of intellectual property shall be linked to upstream and down stream of industry structure、supply chain and value chain. As to industry policy, the government shall aggressively enhance the self-manufacturing rate of key component and develop equipment industry. Dealing with China investment policy, the government shall adopt more aggressive management attitude and help enterprise to build up the market and technology database of intellectual property transaction and management. Besides, the government shall assist enterprise to train professional law and management of international intellectual property dispute to enhance international competitiveness of Taiwan TFT LCD industry. In the following research, may initiate transnational research and industry analysis of Taiwan, Mainland China, Japan and Korea and it would be helpful to deeply analyze the development of TFT LCD industry. As to the patent arrangement and patent lawsuit strategy of respective major companies, it is necessary to analyze product, technology structure, patent alliance and patent lawsuit strategy.

內外部技術網路與組織知識流通之研究-以TFT LCD產業為例 / Knowledge flow process of TFT LCD industry in Taiwan from the perspectives of organizational internal networking and external networking

台灣TFT LCD產業在國內六家主要廠商的帶動下,由草創期邁向快速成長期,成為世界舞台上矚目的焦點。本研究以台灣TFT LCD產業為研究對象,一方面為台灣TFT LCD產業記錄略盡微薄之力,一方面藉著技術知識特質與內外部技術網路的探討,深入瞭解台灣TFT LCD產業組織知識流通以及能耐打造的情況。 本研究以個案訪談為主要研究方式,共訪問六家主要的TFT LCD廠商。本研究以「技術知識特質」、「外部技術網路」、「內部技術網路」探討其對台灣TFT LCD產業廠商「組織知識流通」的影響。本研究之研究發現如下: 壹、技術知識特質對外部技術網路之影響 一、本研究發現當組織技術知識路徑相依度不同時,與技術知識吸收來源關係緊密程度亦不相同。當組織技術知識路徑相依度愈高時,與技術知識吸收來源關係愈寬鬆。當組織技術知識路徑相依度愈低時,與技術知識吸收來源關係愈緊密。 二、本研究發現當組織技術知識路徑相依度不同時,組織在吸收供應商的技術知識上採取不同的模式。當台灣TFT LCD廠商技術知識路徑相依度愈高時,其在吸收技轉廠商的技術知識上採取共同開發模式。當台灣TFT LCD廠商技術知識路徑相依度愈低時,其在吸收設備供應商的技術知識上採取交付模式,且設備供應商會提供文件資料、派人駐廠協助。 貳、外部技術網路對組織知識流通之影響 一、本研究發現當組織與技術知識來源關係緊密程度不同時,組織在管理知識吸收上會採取不同的互動方式。當台灣TFT LCD廠商與技術知識來源關係緊密時,其在管理知識吸收上會採取持續互動的方式。當台灣TFT LCD廠商與技術知識來源關係寬鬆時,其在管理知識吸收上不會採取持續互動的方式。 參、內部技術網路對組織知識流通之影響 一、本研究發現知識經驗的分享有助於組織知識在轉換過程中創造與蓄積。知識經驗透過師徒制、在職訓練分享,有助於知識在共同化過程中蓄積與傳播。知識經驗透過文件資料撰寫,有助於知識在外化過程中蓄積與傳播。知識經驗透過面對面溝通分享,包括會議召開、空間設計,有助於知識在結合過程中創造。知識經驗透過內部網路分享,有助於知識在結合過程中蓄積與傳播。 二、本研究發現組織擁有知識創造型團員有助於組織知識的流通。台灣TFT LCD產業的知識操作員在知識共同化過程中,藉著親赴日本實地學習促進組織知識的吸收。台灣TFT LCD產業的知識操作員在知識外化過程中,藉著將受訓內容進行文件化記錄,促進組織知識的蓄積。台灣TFT LCD產業的知識主管屬於T型人,透過會議傳遞、溝通組織願景,有助於知識的創造。 三、本研究發現組織內研發部門與生產部門間的連結與轉移,有助於解決知識創造過程中的問題。台灣TFT LCD各家廠商皆藉著研發部門與生產部門間人員的互動來促成問題的解決。 肆、台灣TFT LCD產業創新特色 一、本研究發現台灣TFT LCD產業這兩年快速發展的過程中,廠商為了避免技術風險與市場風險,採取下列的作法:以共同開發、獨家授權、合資等模式,與獨有的日本技轉廠商維持緊密的合作關係來降低技術風險;以產品銷售母公司、為技轉廠商進行代工等方式來降低市場風險。 二、本研究發現當母公司進行跨業投資台灣TFT LCD產業時,會透過集團協助組織知識流通,其中包括高階主管、生產人才的調任,以及技術知識、管理經驗的提供。 三、本研究發現在產品開發能力移轉上,台灣TFT LCD廠商成功邁向第二個層次—調適與零件本土化的能力移轉,並建構本身在實體系統、管理系統、技術與知識、價值觀各方面的核心能力。 四、本研究發現在台灣TFT LCD產業崛起過程中,工研院除了提供技術知識給廠商外,亦扮演人才提供的角色,協助台灣TFT LCD產業組織知識的流通。 五、本研究發現在台灣TFT LCD產業崛起過程中,創新的CEO透過容忍智慧型失敗、塑造關懷(Care)與學習的組織環境,協助組織內知識的流通。
