Waste Management Motivation and Intentions: Competitive Theory Testing in Cases of Household Recycling BehaviorCHIU, CHIA-FAN 15 June 2000 (has links)
Despite the fact that there has been an official waste recycling and composting system in Taiwanese, the system still works improperly and inefficiently in our society due to problems such as culture, political complexity, etc.
We plan to examine the antecedents of the behavior of household recycling in the context of an integrated behavior model. This model incorporates our previous depth interview and a wide variety of important factors from previous research on environmental behavior into a single theoretical framework provided by the Theory of Planned Behavior. The competitive model is planned to be tested using data from a sample of near 2000 individual respondents, each of whom will complete a survey. We will draw public policy implications and focus on a more open and more effective process for operating waste management systems based on the results.

The researches applied theory of planned behavior(TPB) are enormously
inpliemented. Also there are some researches with theory of planned behavior address
training programs in organizations.Althougtht training programs are an important
compotent in most of companies, little theoretical guidance is available for their
implementation in information technology services industry
This research proposes the behavior model originated from Ajzen¡¦s (1985)theory of
planned behavior(TPB) to understand how employees¡¦ attitude, subject norm and
perceived control behavior determinants of employees¡¦ behavior in training programs.
Data were collected from a company of information service industry in Taiwan. The
results indicate traning programs must be suitable and acceptable to employees,
otherwise, it wouldn¡¦t change employee¡¦s attitude toward training programs even they
have plenty of choices and opportunities. Personl attidute and subject norm predicts
employees¡¦ behavior, salient individuals or groups, such as supervisors, co-workers¡A
friends and families affact employees¡¦ behavior much more than their personal
attitudes.
The results only partially support the theory of behavior because information service
industry is a highly skilled required. Employee who has willing to attend the training
program is by personal professional needs instead of the self convinence level to
training attendance or the diversites of training programs.
This research provided factors affect intensions of employees¡¦ behavior in training
programs and would be instructive suggestions to better understandig of training
programs development in the future.

A Research on People¡¦s Attitude and Behavior Intention While Purchase House in the Kaoshiung Post-Transit EraKao, Chia-Tsung 01 September 2009 (has links)
Abstract
For years, due to the lack of sound public transportation system, Kaohsiung citizens depend on motor cycles and their own cars for transportation. In the early this year, they started to have a new choice with the completion of Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit system (KMRT). Will the KMRT bring them more convenience and make them give up the dependence on motor cycles or cars, which eventually will become an important factor in choosing housing just as what has been observed in Taipei over the past decade? The research aims to study the influence of the KMRT to Kaohsiung people¡¦s daily habit of transportation and their housing choices.
The study has adopted the planned behavior theory to explore the behavior intentions of Kaohsiung citizens in housing choices and to analyze the factors for purchases. The research adopted the questionnaire survey procedure to those people who were 25 years old and had taken the KMRT. The grand total of the questionnaires is 450 ones, of which 409 ones were effective. From the result through the regression analysis, it has been found that the location of the KMRT has indeed become a factor in housing choice for those who have taken the KMRT. However, it should be pointed out that an average of only ten percent Kaohsiung citizens per day use the system while in Taipei, above one third of people use the MRT every day. The low percentage for Kaohsiung people in using the new system tells the fact that the new system has not affected the people¡¦s lives so much as Taipei¡¦s MRT.

Electronic Cigarettes: Associated Beliefs and Reasons for Use among US AdultsMajeed, Ban A 09 January 2015 (has links)
The three research studies included in this dissertation aimed to examine the reasons for e-cigarette use among U.S. adults, and to examine the U.S. public opinion on allowing e-cigarette use where smoking is otherwise prohibited. Mixed (quantitative and qualitative) research methods were used. Data from an online survey (2012) and focus groups (2014) were analyzed. Among 307 survey respondents who had ever used e-cigarettes, the three most common reasons for e-cigarette use were curiosity (40.8%), the belief that “it helps people quit smoking” (19.1%), and perceiving e-cigarettes “less harmful than regular cigarettes” (9.3%). About 40% of U.S. adults were uncertain whether e-cigarette use should be allowed in smoke-free public areas, 37% opposed, while 23% favored allowing their use in smoke-free environments. The majority of the focus group participants have used e-cigarettes to complement regular cigarette smoking and intake nicotine where smoking is restricted. E-cigarette use was viewed to be less harmful and more convenient than smoking regular cigarettes. The findings of the three studies suggest that curiosity about e-cigarettes lead to experimentation and the convenience to use e-cigarettes in smoke-free areas lead to continual use. With impending regulation and the changing e-cigarette landscape, there is a need for continued monitoring and research on reasons for and attitudes about e-cigarette use, and on public opinion pertaining to e-cigarette use in smoke-free areas.

The IT way of loafing in class: Extending the theory of planned behavior (TPB) to understand students’ cyberslacking intentionsRana, Nripendra P., Slade, E., Kitching, S., Dwivedi, Y.K. 2019 July 1917 (has links)
Yes / Internet-enabled technologies can facilitate students' learning, engagement, and productivity but they also present challenges by way of distraction. Cyberslacking is the use of internet-enabled technologies by students in class for non-class related activities. This research attempts to understand the factors that influence students' cyberslacking intentions in class, through extending the Theory of Planned Behavior with lack of attention, apathy towards course material, distraction by others, perceived threat, and escapism. Quantitative data were collected (n = 188) using a survey method with undergraduate and postgraduate students from a management school in a British university. All eight proposed hypotheses were found to be supported. The findings indicated that constructs such as lack of attention, apathy towards course material, and distraction by others are significant predictors of attitude. Further, attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, perceived threat, and escapism were found to significantly influence students’ cyberslacking intentions.

This paper has identified factors for increased user acceptance and diffusion of Video on Demand(VOD) services through a literature review of previous studies. The literature review was used to make a list of factors that make a consumer more willing to use a VOD service. The factors are then evaluated through a quantitative study using an online questionnaire. The result was to a large degree what was expected, which shows that content and cost are the main factors for a high acceptance, but other factors may play in as well such as ease-of-use, quality, and social factors.

Miljömärkningar inom textilbranschen : Ur konsumentens perspektiv / Eco-labels in the textile industry : From the consumer's perspectiveStegervall, Sara, Svennberg, Lina January 2019 (has links)
This study aims to identify consumers knowledge and perceptions towards eco-labels in the textile industry and if they give an impression on their consumption. The study has been conducted with a quantitative approach through a questionnaire survey that is designed on the basis of a qualitative study. Earlier literature shows that standardized eco-labels are much better than stores own eco-labels since they are based on the criteria of an independent organization. Based on this study, a conclusion can be drawn that the standardized eco-labels are more recognized and reliable than store chains own, especially "Svanen" and "Bra Miljöval". Previous literature has shown that knowledge is an important contributing factor in reducing the environmental impact when consuming garments. Consumers want to make rational and conscious sustainable choices, but lack of information and knowledge about different eco-labels makes it difficult. This lack of awareness and knowledge is largely due to limitations in marketing strategies and branding of environmentally friendly labels. The study also confirms previous research that show that the biggest reason why consumers do not buy sustainable garments is because of lack of knowledge about its impact on the environment.
