Från att konsumera medier till att konsumera varor : En studie om hur Instagram-användare upplever och förhåller sig till konsumtion på applikationen

In a short period of time, the internet has become more of an essential asset for people to perform their daily tasks. With the consumption of products and services reaching an all-time high, impulse buying has become a growing issue. Instagram is one of the world’s most popular social media platforms and recently launched new shopping functions. While earlier studies show entertainment- and social motives for usage of Instagram, market drivers show that Instagram plays a central role in today’s online shopping. The purpose of this study is to investigate if Instagram can influence its users to increase impulse buying and if so, how that is done. This study has been implemented with triangulation by using a quantitative and a qualitative method approach. Based on a survey as well as an interview survey within this study, data has been analyzed based on behavioral theory, social influence theory, motives for usage of social media and theories of impulse buying.  The results of this study show that there is a new or increased need to buy products and services on Instagram and that there are impulse purchases as a result of Instagram. Instagram users are shown to be affected by the social influence and the marketing on Instagram. / Internet har på kort tid blivit en viktig tillgång för människor att kunna utföra uppgifter i sina vardagliga liv. Människor konsumerar allt mer i en växande internetmarknad, där impulsköp sker i allt större omfattning. Instagram är ett av världens mest populära sociala medier och har på senare tid lanserat nya shopping-funktioner i Sverige. Samtidigt som tidigare studier skildrar underhållning och sociala motiv för användningen av Instagram, talar marknadsförare idag om Instagram som ett centrum för e-handel. Detta ger skilda meningar om vad Instagram ska användas till. Syftet med studien är att undersöka om Instagram kan driva fram ett impulsköpbeteende hos användare och i sådana fall hur. Denna studie har genomförts genom en triangulering, med både en kvantitativ och kvalitativ metodansats. Utifrån enkät- samt intervjuundersökningen har datan analyserats med utgångspunkt i studiens teoretiska ramverk kring beteende, socialt inflytande och motiv för användning av applikationen. Resultatet i denna studie visar att det uppstår ett nytt- eller förstärkt behov av att köpa produkter och tjänster på Instagram samt att det förekommer impulsköp till följd av användning av applikationen. Instagram-användare visar sig påverkas av socialt inflytande och marknadsföring på Instagram.

Detekce a vizualizace specifických rysů v mračnu bodů / Detection and Vizualization of Features in a Point Cloud

The point cloud is an unorganized set of points with 3D coordinates (x, y, z) which represents a real object. These point clouds are acquired by the technology called 3D scanning. This scanning technique can be done by various methods, such as LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) or by utilizing recently developed 3D scanners. Point clouds can be therefore used in various applications, such as mechanical or reverse engineering, rapid prototyping, biology, nuclear physics or virtual reality. Therefore in this doctoral Ph.D. thesis, I focus on feature detection and visualization in a point cloud. These features represent parts of the object that can be described by the well--known mathematical model (lines, planes, helices etc.). The points on the sharp edges are especialy problematic for commonly used methods. Therefore, I focus on detection of these problematic points. This doctoral Ph.D. thesis presents a new algorithm for precise detection of these problematic points. Visualization of these points is done by a modified curve fitting algoritm with a new weight function that leads to better results. Each of the proposed methods were tested on real data sets and compared with contemporary published methods.

Diploma thesis deals with basic physical quantities and laws relating to non-contact temperature measurement and emissivity determination of solids. It describes the design and implementation of the IR (Infra-Red) thermometer often missed with automatic emissivity correction. The first chapter explains the concept of temperature and basic principles of temperature measuring . The second chapter focuses on the history and theory of non-contact temperature measurement. Gradually are explained the concepts related to non-contact temperature measurement and the problem of determining the emissivity of the body. Next third chapter describes the proposed hardware solution of IR thermometer. The fourth chapter describes a software written for the IR thermometer. The fifth and last chapter summarizes the findings and knowledge from the implementation of non-contact thermometer and measuring emissivity.

Optická lokalizace velmi vzdálených cílů ve vícekamerovém systému / Optical Localization of Very Distant Targets in Multicamera Systems

This work presents a system for semi-autonomous optical localization of distant moving targets using multiple positionable cameras. The cameras were calibrated and stationed using custom designed calibration targets and methodology with the objective to alleviate the main sources of errors which were pinpointed in thorough precision analysis. The detection of the target is performed manually, while the visual tracking is automatic and it utilizes two state-of-the-art approaches. The estimation of the target location in 3-space is based on multi-view triangulation working with noisy measurements. A basic setup consisting of two camera units was tested against static targets and a moving terrestrial target, and the precision of the location estimation was compared to the theoretical model. The modularity and portability of the system allows fast deployment in a wide range of scenarios including perimeter monitoring or early threat detection in defense systems, as well as air traffic control in public space.

Zpracování obrazu pro golfový simulátor / Image Processing for Golf Simulator

This thesis describes design and practical realization of a golf simulator. It includes specifications of the hardware, that is a necessity for such simulator, and implementation of the detection of a golf swing and ball flight. The simulator has to fulfill several conditions that were stated at the beginning of the draft. One of the most important conditions was low purchase price, and therefore the simulator is based on common USB cameras Playstation Eye 3. The main goal was to create a user friendly simulator, that will be appropriate both for indoor and outdoor conditions. The final solution was compared with Full Swing simulator. The accuracy of our simulator was far better than the compared one at short game and putting through the use of scanning the ball right after the start of its flight. Accuracy at putting ranged: speed of the ball +/- 0.2 m/s, launch angle +/- 1 degree and flight angle +/- 0.8 degrees.

Abstract This empirical study investigates how students in secondary school 7-9 learn the English language outside of school, in an informal setting, and how they can benefit from it in a formal setting in school. The usage of digital technology is more common nowadays amongst youngsters than it used to be before. Digital technology has become a part of young people’s daily lives, whether it is for social media, schoolwork, gaming or blogging. Most students in Swedish secondary schools have their own computers, mobile phones, and have the opportunity to borrow an iPad from school, if needed. For this reason, it is relevant and interesting to investigate how students use their informal knowledge of English in a school setting, and how teachers take advantage of that knowledge. The research focused primarily on how the incorporation of extramural English can be used as a motivating factor for students to develop their English language in a formal setting. The results showed that students who are given the opportunity to use their previous knowledge in the classroom, appeared to be more encouraged to engage in classroom activities. They were also more motivated to work with the assignments handed to them. Teachers who involved students’ interests and previous knowledge in the classroom were experienced in the use of different media in the classroom and had good knowledge about students’ daily lives and experiences, something that helped them establish a positive teacher-student relationship. Robuste, lebensdauerumfassende Monitoringkonzepte für Offshore-Windenergieanlagen

Für Offshore-Windenergieanlagen (OWEA) wird die Überwachung mittels Monitoringsystemen immer wichtiger für den effizienten Betrieb. Problematisch ist, dass nicht nur die OWEA selbst, sondern auch die Monitoringsysteme altern. Für verlässliche Monitoringsysteme müssen daher auch deren Alterungsprozesse analysiert werden, damit das System lebensdauerumfassend an der OWEA verwendbar ist. Hierfür wurden Laser-Triangulationssensoren untersucht, die unterschiedlichen Temperaturen und Luftfeuchten ausgesetzt wurden. Das Messsignal wurde temperaturkompensiert und hinsichtlich seiner Messunsicherheit bewertet. Ferner ergaben erste Alterungsversuche, dass noch keine signifikanten Alterungserscheinungen aufgetreten sind.

Inom fallskärmshoppning behövs förutom ett välfungerande fallskärmssystem även en precis höjdmätare. Båda är avgörande komponenter när det gäller utrustning för att kunna genomföra ett säkert hopp. Genom digitalisering och den tekniska utvecklingen finns det idag intressen för att ta fram en digital höjdmätare med bättre precision, flera funktioner och bättre samt tydligare användargränssnitt. Det existerar ett flertal tekniker för mätning av höjd. De tekniker som tas upp i examensarbetet är global positioning system (GPS), radar och barometer. Målet med examensarbetet var att ta fram en robust algoritm för mätning av höjd, med möjlighet till utveckling. Examensarbetet skulle även innehålla riskanalys av vald(a) teknik(er) , samt förslag på lämpliga presentationstekniker och systemlösningar satt i ett större perspektiv. Systemlösningarna skulle vara anpassade för enkel integration av nya funktioner. I mån av tid skulle även en prototyp utvecklas samt testas. Metoden som valdes var en digital höjdmätare på grund av att den passade bäst för det mål som upprättats för projektet. Fr att beräkna höjden med den digitala höjdmätaren användes sambandet mellan lufttryck och höjd. Resultatet av dessa beräkningar visade på ett tillräckligt precist mätvärde för att vara godtagbart. Eftersom mätvärdets precision var godtagbar beslutades det att inga ytterligare rättningar skulle göras. Arbetet fortsattes med att utveckla en prototyp och testning av denna utfördes. Resultatet blev att en fungerande prototyp togs fram. Framtida utvecklingsmöjligheter finns inom presentationsteknik, chassi, ytterligare rättningar av formeln för höjdmätning och fler iterationer av hårdvaran. / In skydiving, in addition to a well-functioning parachute system, a good and precise altimeter is needed. Both which are crucial parts of equipment in order to be able to perform a safe jump. Through digitalization and the technological development, there are today interests of developing a digital altimeter with better precision and several functions There are a number of techniques for measuring altitude. Those that are included in this bachelor thesis are GPS, radar and barometers. The aim of the thesis was to develop a robust algorithm for measuring height, with the possibility of development. The thesis work would also include risk analysis of selected technology or techniques, as well as suggestions for suitable presentation techniques and system solutions in a larger perspective. The system solutions would be adapted for easy integration of new features. If time allowed it, a prototype would also be developed and tested. The method chosen was a digital altimeter because it was best suited for the goals set for the project. To calculate the height with the digital altimeter, the relationship between air pressure and height was used. The result of these calculations showed a sufficiently precise measurement value to be acceptable. Since the accuracy of the measurement value was acceptable, it was decided that no further corrections would be made. The work continued with developing a prototype and testing it. The result was a functioning prototype. Future development opportunities are available within presentation technology, chassis, further corrections of the formula for height measurement and more iterations of hardware.
