Robuste, lebensdauerumfassende Monitoringkonzepte für Offshore-Windenergieanlagen

Für Offshore-Windenergieanlagen (OWEA) wird die Überwachung mittels Monitoringsystemen immer wichtiger für den effizienten Betrieb. Problematisch ist, dass nicht nur die OWEA selbst, sondern auch die Monitoringsysteme altern. Für verlässliche Monitoringsysteme müssen daher auch deren Alterungsprozesse analysiert werden, damit das System lebensdauerumfassend an der OWEA verwendbar ist. Hierfür wurden Laser-Triangulationssensoren untersucht, die unterschiedlichen Temperaturen und Luftfeuchten ausgesetzt wurden. Das Messsignal wurde temperaturkompensiert und hinsichtlich seiner Messunsicherheit bewertet. Ferner ergaben erste Alterungsversuche, dass noch keine signifikanten Alterungserscheinungen aufgetreten sind.

Inom fallskärmshoppning behövs förutom ett välfungerande fallskärmssystem även en precis höjdmätare. Båda är avgörande komponenter när det gäller utrustning för att kunna genomföra ett säkert hopp. Genom digitalisering och den tekniska utvecklingen finns det idag intressen för att ta fram en digital höjdmätare med bättre precision, flera funktioner och bättre samt tydligare användargränssnitt. Det existerar ett flertal tekniker för mätning av höjd. De tekniker som tas upp i examensarbetet är global positioning system (GPS), radar och barometer. Målet med examensarbetet var att ta fram en robust algoritm för mätning av höjd, med möjlighet till utveckling. Examensarbetet skulle även innehålla riskanalys av vald(a) teknik(er) , samt förslag på lämpliga presentationstekniker och systemlösningar satt i ett större perspektiv. Systemlösningarna skulle vara anpassade för enkel integration av nya funktioner. I mån av tid skulle även en prototyp utvecklas samt testas. Metoden som valdes var en digital höjdmätare på grund av att den passade bäst för det mål som upprättats för projektet. Fr att beräkna höjden med den digitala höjdmätaren användes sambandet mellan lufttryck och höjd. Resultatet av dessa beräkningar visade på ett tillräckligt precist mätvärde för att vara godtagbart. Eftersom mätvärdets precision var godtagbar beslutades det att inga ytterligare rättningar skulle göras. Arbetet fortsattes med att utveckla en prototyp och testning av denna utfördes. Resultatet blev att en fungerande prototyp togs fram. Framtida utvecklingsmöjligheter finns inom presentationsteknik, chassi, ytterligare rättningar av formeln för höjdmätning och fler iterationer av hårdvaran. / In skydiving, in addition to a well-functioning parachute system, a good and precise altimeter is needed. Both which are crucial parts of equipment in order to be able to perform a safe jump. Through digitalization and the technological development, there are today interests of developing a digital altimeter with better precision and several functions There are a number of techniques for measuring altitude. Those that are included in this bachelor thesis are GPS, radar and barometers. The aim of the thesis was to develop a robust algorithm for measuring height, with the possibility of development. The thesis work would also include risk analysis of selected technology or techniques, as well as suggestions for suitable presentation techniques and system solutions in a larger perspective. The system solutions would be adapted for easy integration of new features. If time allowed it, a prototype would also be developed and tested. The method chosen was a digital altimeter because it was best suited for the goals set for the project. To calculate the height with the digital altimeter, the relationship between air pressure and height was used. The result of these calculations showed a sufficiently precise measurement value to be acceptable. Since the accuracy of the measurement value was acceptable, it was decided that no further corrections would be made. The work continued with developing a prototype and testing it. The result was a functioning prototype. Future development opportunities are available within presentation technology, chassis, further corrections of the formula for height measurement and more iterations of hardware.

This study investigates the usability of the South African Super 14 Rugby franchise web sites. Web site usability is a measure of a web site user’s experience when visiting a web site. A web site user’s experience will determine how well a web site’s goals are achieved. The relevant web site goals are, having as many visitors as possible, both unique visitors and repeat visitors, and ensuring that those visitors stay on the web site for as long as possible. This study uses data generation method triangulation to enhance the validity of the findings. The data generation methods are an e-mail questionnaire survey and an expert group consensus method called the Delphi Method. This study shows that within each web site and across all five web sites, there is poor usability consistency. Management guidelines and recommendations for improvements to these web sites are presented, so that the web site goals can be achieved. / Computer Science / M.Sc. (Information Systems)

Knowledge management practices at the Department of Defence in South Africa

Defence organisations have now significantly developed and in the process they have applied various measures to sustain their progresses and encourage innovation. One of those measures is by embarking on KM programs. KM in military is seen as a strategic approach to achieving defense objectives by leveraging the value of collective knowledge through the process of creating, gathering, organizing, sharing and transferring knowledge into action. It is through proper knowledge management practices that an organisation embraces and manages its knowledge generation, knowledge acquisition, knowledge organisation, knowledge storage, transfer, knowledge sharing, and knowledge retention. The purpose of this study was to investigate knowledge management practices in the Department of Defence (RSA). The objective of the study was to find out how the department appreciates, understands, interprets and handles its knowledge. This study employed triangulation method to present trustworthiness of both qualitative and quantitative research approaches using positivist research design. Questionnaires, interviews and document analysis were employed to collect data. In order to arrive at the number of participants who received the questionnaires, a probability sampling method called stratified random sampling was used as well as purposive sampling. When setting up a study, it was essential to review the research identified in the literature review and to determine whether there is anything relevant to the research design of the proposed study. The study found that knowledge management was hardly understood generally in the department and was not an approach used and institutionalised for the benefit of the organisation. However there was embedded knowledge management appreciation from a few staff members in the department, only managing their own knowledge regarding learning, capturing and storage. Additionally there is a significant number of staff members who believe knowledge management is a way to go in the future and strongly believe their Defence Department needs to adopt a comprehensive and inclusive KM approach. / Information Science / M.A. (Information Science)

Where life skill education initiatives are being set up, much time and resources are channelled into training teachers, promoting, disseminating and implementing life skill education. For life skill education to be effective and continue to be relevant, research needs to be undertaken as an integral part of the whole process. This study focuses on the 'Life Skills Train the Trainer Programme'. The aim being to evaluate the success of this programme in empowering teachers to teach life skills. It was found that although life skill education has been found to be an important area in every learner's life, there are obstacles that may affect an effective implementation of life skill education in schools. 以四旋翼UAS酬載熱感測器製作數值表面溫度模型供地溫研究 / Generation of digital surface temperature model from images collected by thermal sensor on quadcopter UAS for geothermal study

熱像儀,能感測可見光感測器無法取得的訊息,因此若能透過熱像儀器進行環境偵測,便能得到一般可見光感測器無法獲取的資料。本研究擬以四旋翼UAS酬載熱像儀得到局部區域高解析度之地面熱資訊以便作為地溫研究之背景資料使用。而一般地溫研究區,不易佈設控制點,因此本研究除於無人機上酬載熱像儀之外,並將搭載Trimble BD970 GNSS OEM接收模組,嘗試以少量地面控制點、以及GNSS動態後處理的方式取得取像時對應的GNSS觀測量輔助熱像定位定向。本研究中針對國立政治大學旁的指南溪實驗區與陽明山國家公園的小油坑實驗區,使用AI-RIDER YJ-1000-HC四旋翼UAS分別酬載熱像儀FLIR Tau 640和巨哥XM6,並且同時搭載Trimble BD970 GNSS OEM接收模組、以及GNSS動態後處理的方式取得取像時對應的GNSS觀測量搭配少量地面控制點輔助熱像定位定向,過程中透過三焦張量剔除自動匹配之誤匹配連結點。實驗結果顯示,兩實驗區所產製之DSM於不易變動區域精度經現有資料檢核均在±1m,而指南溪實驗區產製出地面解析度11公分的數值表面模型(Digital Surface Model, DSM)與正射熱像,且正射熱像平面精度達為47公分;小油坑實驗區產製出地面解析度14公分之DSM與正射熱像,正射熱像平面精度則為67公分,雖然DSM和正射熱像精度無法符合一般常規的測量規範,但成果仍然可以證明熱像直接產製DSM以及正射熱像之可行性,兩實驗區最後皆生成數值溫度表面模型(Digital Surface Temparature Model, DSTM),顯示本研究所提方法之可行性,所生成之成果可供後續地溫研究使用。 / Thermal infrared images show the temperature change of sensed scenes. Therefore, thermal infrared camera can sense some important information that optical digital cameras cannot do for the environment monitoring. In this study, the Quadcopter UAS for thermal image collection applied to geothermal study will be developed. FIIR Tau 640 and Magnity Eletric XM6 thermal infrared sensor will be used in this thermal image collection system separately two test areas, Zhinan River nearby NCCU and Xiaoyoukeng, in the Yangmingshan National Park. Additionally, Trimble BD970 GNSS OEM board will be carried on the Quadcopter UAS to collect dual-frequency GNSS observations for determining the flying trajectory by Post-processed kinematic (PPK) technique to support the positioning and orientating of collected thermal images, and the trifocal tensor will be used to delete wrong matching tie images points. From the tests, the differences between produced DSM and existing DSM data are ± 1 m on uneasy change ground surface in two test areas. The resolution of produced DSM and thermal orthoimages are about 11 cm in Zhinan River, and 14cm in Xiaoyoukeng area. The accuracy of thermal orthoimages is 47cm in Zhinan River and 67cm in Xiaoyoukeng area. The accuracy of thermal orthoimages may not comply with a normal surveying standard, but it proves the possibility of DSM and orthorectifed thermal images generated from thermal images directly. Digital Surface Temparature Model (DSTM) produced in both tests can be used for volcanic geothermal monitoring in the future.

Work-related rehabilitation for strengthening working careers:a multiperspective and mixed methods study of its mechanisms

Abstract Coping at work and job retention have been on the list of priorities of European countries for some decades. Vocational rehabilitation is a key measure for preventing work disability, but its possibilities have remained unused in many respects. Moreover, rehabilitation tasks are defined differently depending on the perspective taken. The purpose of this thesis is to determine the possibilities that arise from defining work-related rehabilitation tasks in a way that combines different perspectives and interests. The research questions are: 1) What were the impacts on working career and psychosocial factors of an intervention for long-term unemployed people with disabilities? 2) What kind of processes and mechanisms promoted the working careers and other outcomes of the employed people during the interventions? 3) What forms of collaboration took place between the rehabilitees and different stakeholders, and to what extent did the rehabilitees have opportunities to choose and act during the process? The empirical data for the study were collected from two vocational rehabilitation research projects. The research design was a multiple case study from multiple perspectives combined with mixed methods. The materials were collected through surveys, individual and group interviews, documents, and register follow-up. We found the contextual mechanism through which the outcomes of the work-related rehabilitation emerged. The process was promoted or hindered by actions taken by all stakeholders. The promoting or hindering mechanisms were born through the actions taken by the supervisor in particular, the occupational health service and rehabilitation service provider, and the individual’s life situation factors. Similar factors promoted and hindered the re-employment and staying or returning to work outcomes. Enhancing the rehabilitees’ own agency is also important, regardless of how weak it is at the beginning. I also present a new way of assigning rehabilitation tasks, which structures the complexity of the field of work-related rehabilitation and helps manage it. Work-related rehabilitation is a combination of societal and individual actions. The results of this study will help all actors involved in rehabilitation to improve the outcomes of work-related rehabilitation by developing opportunities for the rehabilitees’ own agency and collaboration / Tiivistelmä Työurien jatkaminen on keskeinen eurooppalaisten yhteiskuntien selviämisen haaste. Kuntoutus on riittämättömästi hyödynnetty resurssi työurien pidentämiseksi. Lisäksi kuntoutuksen tehtävät määrittyvät eri näkökulmista eri tavalla. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on tarkastella, miten työikäisten kuntoutuksen tehtävää voitaisiin määritellä eri toimijoiden intressejä ja päämääriä yhdistäen. Tutkimuskysymyksiä oli kolme: 1) Mitkä olivat monimuotoisen ammatillisen kuntoutuksen vaikutukset pitkäaikaistyöttömien työuraan ja muihin psykososiaalisiin tekijöihin? 2) Millaiset prosessit ja mekanismit edistivät työuria työllisten monimuotoisen ammatillisen kuntoutuksen interventiossa? 3) Minkälaisia yhteistyömuotoja työhön kytkeytyvässä kuntoutuksessa kuntoutujan ja eri toimijoiden välillä toteutui, ja missä määrin kuntoutujat pystyivät vaikuttamaan omiin valinta- ja toimintamahdollisuuksiinsa prosessin aikana? Aineisto koostui kahden ammatillisen kuntoutuksen kehittämishankkeen arviointitutkimusaineistoista. Tutkimusasetelma oli monitapaustutkimus, joka oli toteutettu moninäkökulmaisena mixed method –tutkimuksena. Aineistot oli koottu kyselyiden, yksilö- ja ryhmähaastatteluiden, dokumenttien ja rekisteriseurannan avulla. Aineistojen analyysejä oli tehty aineistokokonaisuuksittain analysoiden kvantitatiiviset ja kvalitatiiviset aineistot erikseen sekä yhdistämällä aineistoja tapaustutkimuksen keinoin. Tutkimuksessa löytyi mekanismi, jonka kautta kuntoutuksen tulokset syntyivät tai jäivät syntymättä. Edistävät ja estävät mekanismit liittyivät erityisesti esimiehen, työterveyshuollon ja kuntoutuksen palvelutuottajan toimintaan ja kuntoutujan elämäntilanteeseen. Samanlaiset tekijät edistivät ja estivät työttömillä ja työllisillä kuntoutumista. Lisäksi työhön kytkeytyvässä kuntoutuksessa kuntoutujan oman toimijuuden tukeminen on tärkeää, vaikka se alkuvaiheessa olisi vähäinen. Tutkimuksessa kuvataan työikäisten kuntoutuksen tehtävät uuden mallin avulla. Tämä jäsentää ammatillisen kuntoutuksen kentän kompleksisuutta ja auttaa hallitsemaan sitä. Työhön kytkeytyvä kuntoutus muodostuu yhteiskuntaan ja yksilöön kohdistuvista toimista, joilla mahdollistetaan työelämään paluu ja osallistuminen. Tulosten avulla kuntoutuksen toteuttajat, tutkijat ja viranomaiset voivat parantaa kuntoutuksen työuravaikutuksia kehittämällä kuntoutujan osallistumismahdollisuuksia ja yhteistoimintaa.

Indexation de la Vidéo Portée : Application à l'Étude Épidémiologique des Maladies Liées à l'Âge

Le travail de recherche de cette thèse de doctorat s'inscrit dans le cadre du suivi médical des patients atteints de démences liées à l'âge à l'aide des caméras videos portées par les patients. L'idée est de fournir aux médecins un nouvel outil pour le diagnostic précoce de démences liées à l'âge telles que la maladie d'Alzheimer. Plus précisément, les Activités Instrumentales du Quotidien (IADL : Instrumental Activities of Daily Living en anglais) doivent être indexées automatiquement dans les vidéos enregistrées par un dispositif d'enregistrement portable. Ces vidéos présentent des caractéristiques spécifiques comme de forts mouvements ou de forts changements de luminosité. De plus, la tâche de reconnaissance visée est d'un très haut niveau sémantique. Dans ce contexte difficile, la première étape d'analyse est la définition d'un équivalent à la notion de " plan " dans les contenus vidéos édités. Nous avons ainsi développé une méthode pour le partitionnement d'une vidéo tournée en continu en termes de " points de vue " à partir du mouvement apparent. Pour la reconnaissance des IADL, nous avons développé une solution selon le formalisme des Modèles de Markov Cachés (MMC). Un MMC hiérarchique à deux niveaux a été introduit, modélisant les activités sémantiques ou des états intermédiaires. Un ensemble complexe de descripteurs (dynamiques, statiques, de bas niveau et de niveau intermédiaire) a été exploité et les espaces de description joints optimaux ont été identifiés expérimentalement. Dans le cadre de descripteurs de niveau intermédiaire pour la reconnaissance d'activités nous nous sommes particulièrement intéressés aux objets sémantiques que la personne manipule dans le champ de la caméra. Nous avons proposé un nouveau concept pour la description d'objets ou d'images faisant usage des descripteurs locaux (SURF) et de la structure topologique sous-jacente de graphes locaux. Une approche imbriquée pour la construction des graphes où la même scène peut être décrite par plusieurs niveaux de graphes avec un nombre de nœuds croissant a été introduite. Nous construisons ces graphes par une triangulation de Delaunay sur des points SURF, préservant ainsi les bonnes propriétés des descripteurs locaux c'est-à-dire leur invariance vis-à-vis de transformations affines dans le plan image telles qu'une rotation, une translation ou un changement d'échelle. Nous utilisons ces graphes descripteurs dans le cadre de l'approche Sacs-de-Mots-Visuels. Le problème de définition d'une distance, ou dissimilarité, entre les graphes pour la classification non supervisée et la reconnaissance est nécessairement soulevé. Nous proposons une mesure de dissimilarité par le Noyau Dépendant du Contexte (Context-Dependent Kernel : CDK) proposé par H. Sahbi et montrons sa relation avec la norme classique L2 lors de la comparaison de graphes triviaux (les points SURF). Pour la reconnaissance d'activités par MMC, les expériences sont conduites sur le premier corpus au monde de vidéos avec caméra portée destiné à l'observation des d'IADL et sur des bases de données publiques comme SIVAL et Caltech-101 pour la reconnaissance d'objets.
