The sorts of exercises covered in this study are centered in grammar, which is included in language conception, and in team work. The educational context comprised is based on the São Paulo State Modern Foreign Language Curriculum, English, (SÃO PAULO, 2010), with the addition of the Student Book (SÃO PAULO, 2009a) and the Teacher Book (SÃO PAULO, 2009b). The theoretical axis is mainly based in Vigotski (1934/1991; 1934/2008) and his Social- Historical-Cultural vision. It is complemented with Koch (2003), Travaglia (1995/2005), Larsen-Freeman (2003) and Celce-Murcia (2008) for language and grammar concerns and Magalhães (2009) for team work concern. Methodologically, this research fits in a case study (STAKE, 1995; YIN, 2001) of interpretative qualitative type that uses a questionnaire (NUNAN, 1992) and an interview (RUBIN & RUBIN, 2005) as data gathering instruments. I identified ten different perspectives of students about English learning in the context of this research. The analysis of the results showed that there are some established principles in the Curriculum and in the Teacher Book which permeate the Student Book, as seen in the identified perspectives of students of English learning based on grammar, the team work positive consideration, and their collaborative role for colleagues learning. In other hand, some other perspectives showed that there are divergences between the orientation inside the Curriculum and Teacher Book and the manner how the exercises are presented in the Student Book and worked in classroom, such as the lack of activities of speaking and listening or that is only possible to learn the idiom by means of training and repetitions, as perceived by the students / Esta pesquisa está inserida na área da Linguística Aplicada e tem por objetivo investigar as perspectivas do aluno de uma escola pública em relação ao trabalho com os exercícios de língua inglesa propostos no Caderno do Aluno da Secretaria da Educação do Estado de São Paulo (3° ano do Ensino Médio - volume 3).

Payette, Sébastien 11 1900 (has links)
The main focus of the research is the analysis of the phenomena and the link between the union-management Cooperation and the work team. We are pursuing by submitting a main hypothesis: the degree of union-management Cooperation has a positive influence on the functioning and collective self-reliance of work teams. Methodology used relies on a point of multiple case study of the independent variable (the intensity of the employer-Union cooperation) in neutralizing the greatest possible number of control variables that can influence the dependent variable (operation and autonomy of the teams work). Semi-structured interviews were conducted with representative’s employer and Union. The results show that two selected plants have confirmed that the union-Cooperation was high in a factory and low in the other. Our dependent variable data analysis is based primarily on the results of a questionnaire and the resulting data indicate that Alma plant respondents have the highest ratings of dimensions related to their degree of autonomy and the functioning of their team work. Our assumption is essentially confirmed and demonstrates a positive relationship between a high degree of union-management Cooperation and assessment by the members of their team’s operations and collective self-reliance of work teams. However, this positive relationship is mixed, because it does not apply for certain dimensions that concerns more trivial aspects of the collective autonomy of work teams.

Team-patient communication of information and support at the Breast Cancer Clinic of the Johannesburg Hospital

Levin, Debra 11 1900 (has links)
This study addresses the effectiveness of communication between the team (doctors, sisters and social workers) and patients at the Breast Cancer Clinic of the Johannesburg Hospital. Tue needs of patients were highlighted, as well as the role of care-giver, both as a group and in their separate disciplines, in attempting to meet these needs. Tue empirical survey was carried out through the use of questionnaires as well as interview schedules. Patients, doctors, nurses and social workers were used as respondents. Results indicated that the majority of patients' needs for information and support were met by the team in general; however, a need for further social work intervention seemed to be apparent. In addition, several barriers were found to inhibit both team-patient and inter-team communication. Tue researcher used the information gathered in this study to make recommendations that will facilitate improved communication in the clinic, with specific reference to the role of the social worker. / Social Work / M.A.(Social Science: Mental Health)

Schmidel, Jucineide Proença da Cruz January 2009 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2011-05-04T12:36:30Z (GMT). / This study aimed at analyzing the health community agent`s perception about the training received and the possibility of application/mobilization of the competences required for changes in the work process. Education for work is considered a strategy for social changes, implying in reformulation of strategies to make the Professional workers become committed, training them in educative processes directed towards competence, under the humanization principle and focused on work, locus where it appears and where the needs are developed for reorientation of the health worker`s performance. For this purpose, we sought to learn the ACS perceptions, module I graduates, initial training of the technical course of community health agent, in relation to health concepts and health promotion, work process, professional competence and training of the community health agents. It started from the premise that the training processes of the Community Health Agents, does not meet the needs of the community and the strategy family health, since most of them occur in a way disconnected from the context of the practices. The subjects of the research were health community agents, students that had finished the beginner`s training course in health community agents, belonging to the health family team. It is a qualitative research that had as central tool of data collection the focal group and complementary techniques of participant observation and the documental analysis. The data obtained were analyzed according to the technique of content analysis proposed by Bardin. The concept of health in the ACS perception, does not present the curative, biomedical approach as absence of the disease, but it goes further when understanding health as a fundamental right for health conditions and quality of life. The social determinants of health (DSS) were considered as the main factors that interfere in the health field and also the need for intersectorial public policies as a structuring factor for a good quality of life. Regarding health promotion the frailties in its application in the work process became evident. The educational works are transformation factors of the individuals’ behavior. The intersubjective issues in the work with real and prescribed data, whose discussions in the educative process are not very well used were highlighted. And develop participative action. The work process revealed a gap between its performance and the organizational barriers, with the need of a greater articulation between ACS and the service team so that a team work with planning of the actions becomes effective. As the central axis of the work are receptiveness, acessibility and team work. In relation to competence there is difficulty in its understanding, although the course could work the necessary knowledge to practice the profession.

The feasability of implementing community based care for moderately mentally-retarded persons in a specific centre in Port Elizabeth

Ngcanga, Nosipho Margaret 11 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of implementing community based care for moderately mentally retarded persons in a specific centre in the Port Elizabeth area. The objectives of the study were to identify • the needs of the moderately mentally retarded children. • the physical, psychosocial and vocational rehabilitation means of meeting these needs. • how involved the communities, parents and government were in the care of moderately mentally retarded children. A quantitative, exploratmy and descriptive design was used. A sample of 50 moderately mentally retarded children was utilised. Data were collected by means of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The major research findings indicate that community care for MMRPs could only be feasible with sufficient resources, expertise and community involvement. All these aspects appeared to be lacking in the centre where this research was conducted raising questions as to benefits which the mentally retarded children and their parents and the community could derive from these services. However recommendations were made on identified shortcomings, problems and needs. / Health Science / M.A.(Nursing Science)
