Porovnání a optimalizace měření single-echo a multi-echo BOLD fMRI dat / Comparison and assessment of single-echo and multi-echo BOLD fMRI acquisition

Kovářová, Anežka January 2018 (has links)
This master’s thesis deals with functional magnetic resonance and monitoring of the effect of acquisition acceleration methods on the quality of functional images and observed BOLD signal. The basic principles of magnetic resonance imaging, the explanation of the specifics of functional magnetic resonance and the formation and scanning of BOLD signal are described here. Subsequently, there is the definition of fMRI experiment and description of sequences used for fMRI, focusing on aquisition acceleration techniques. The influence of sequence parameters on image quality and the data processing methods are explained aftewards. The practical part describes the parameters of used sequences, the acquisition procedure and the task for the subject during aquisition. Data from 26 healthy volunteers were obtained and analyzed afterwards. Based on this, the differencesbetween the different sequence variants were evaluated and the initial assumption that the multi-echo acquisition yields better results with faster measurements than single-echo was confirmed.

Implementace Dixonových technik pro preklinické MR zobrazování na vysokých polích / Implementation of Dixon Methods for Preclinical MR Imaging at High Fields

Kořínek, Radim January 2015 (has links)
4,7 T a výše). Získaná data byla pak zpracována iterativně pomocí algoritmu IDEAL (iterative decomposition of water and fat with echo asymmetry and least-squares estimation).

Driving Changes Through Podcasting : an Analysis on the Use of Podcasting by French Activists

Le Meur, Tanguy January 2022 (has links)
Through discontinuous growth and its use in multiple sectors the podcasting established itself as a medium to be reckoned with in the future. Recently, the mainstream scene of French podcasting has seen, among its usual professionally produced shows, the presence of a few podcasts involving a clear and subjective message of activism. These manifestations, although a minority in the head of the charts, are only the visible part of a phenomenon made possible by the “long-tail” dimension of this medium. Indeed, although overwhelmed by the multitude of shows forming this tail, various activist circles have been able to take advantage of the myriad of useful qualities that this medium affords by creating their own programs. With the aim of grasping the interest shown by French activists in podcasting, this thesis was supported by the interviews of two French citizens working for progress through podcasting. The findings of these discussions were backed by active listening to the episodes produced and hosted by these participants and by three auto-ethnographic vignettes tracing the various stages of the creation of a podcasting show by the author of this work. The analysis of these results has been treated under the lenses of adequate theories to demonstrate that activists have a practical relationship with podcasting allowing them to reach their community active offline through participatory and independent episodes

Routine Development for Artefact Correction and Information Extraction from Diffusion Weighted Echo Planar Images of Rats / Rutinutveckling för artefaktkorrigering och informationsextrahering från diffusionsviktade eko-plana bilder av råtta

Kraft, Sandra January 2016 (has links)
Biologists and physicians study complex biologic phenomena in which they use advanced imaging methods. They acquire images containing a lot of information which must be extracted in a correct way. This requires computer skills and knowledge in image processing methods which they seldom have. To overcome the problem, this master thesis aimed to develop a routine for artefact correction and information extraction from images acquired in a research project at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. By developing the routine, the thesis showed how software developed for images of human can be applied to images of rats. The routine handles formatting issues and artefact corrections, calculates diffusion metrics, and performs statistical tests on spatially aligned magnetic resonance images of rats acquired with diffusion weighted echo planar imaging. The routine was verified by analysing the images that it had processed and was considered to create reliable images. Future studies within the field should focus on developing atlases of rats and continue the work with identifying how software developed for images of human can be applied to images of rats.

Dynamics of Interacting Ultracold Atoms and Emergent Quantum States

Changyuan Lyu (10306484) 07 May 2021 (has links)
<p>The development of ultracold atom physics enables people to study fundamental questions in quantum mechanics within this highly-tunable platform. This dissertation focuses on several topics of the dynamical evolution of quantum systems.</p><p>Chapter 2 and 3 talk about Loschmidt echo, a simple quantity that reveals many hidden properties of a system’s time evolution. Chapter 2 looks for vanishing Loschmidt echo in the complex plane of time and the corresponding dynamical quantum phase transitions (DQPT) in the thermodynamic limit. For a two-site Bose-Hubbard model consisting of weakly interacting particles, DQPTs reside at the time scale inversely proportional to the interaction, where highly entangled pair condensates also show up. Chapter 3 discusses the revival of Loschmidt echo in a discrete time crystal, a Floquet system whose discrete temporal transition symmetry is spontaneously broken. We propose a new design and demonstrate its robustness against the fluctuations in the driving field. It can also be used in precision measurement to go beyond the Heisenberg limit. Experimental schemes are presented.</p><p>Out-of-time-order correlator (OTOC) is a more complicated variant of Loschmidt echo. Experimentally it requires reversing the time evolution. In Chapter 4, by exploiting the SU(1,1) symmetry of a weakly interacting BEC and connecting its quantum dynamics to a hyperbolic space, we obtain a geometric framework that enables experimentalists to manipulate the evolution with great freedom. Backward evolution is then realized effectively to measure OTOC of such SU(1,1) systems.</p><p>Chapter 5 discusses the decoherence of a spin impurity immersed in a spinor BEC. Our calculations show that by looking at the dynamics of the impurity’s reduced density matrix, the phase of the spinor BEC can be detected.</p>

Adiabatic Shortcut to Geometric Quantum Computation in Noiseless Subsystems

Gregefalk, Anton January 2021 (has links)
Quantum computers can theoretically perform certain tasks which classical computers at realistic times could not. Operating a quantum computer requires precise control over the system, for instance achieved by adiabatic evolution, and isolation from the environment to retain coherence. This report combines these two, somewhat contradicting, error preventing techniques. To reduce the run-time a transitionless quantum driving algorithm, or, adiabatic shortcut, is employed. The notion of Noiseless Subsystems (NS), a generalization of decoherence free subspaces, are used for robustness against environmental decoupling, by creating logical qubits which act as a noiseless code. Furthermore, the adiabatic shortcut for the NS code is applied to a refocusing scheme (spin-echo) in order to remove the dynamical phase, sensitive to error propagation, so that only the Berry phase is effectively picked up. The corresponding Hamiltonian is explicitly derived for the only two cases of two-dimensional NS: N=3,4 qubits with total spin of j=1/2,0, respectively. This constitutes geometric quantum computation (GQC) enacting a universal single-qubit gate, which is also explicitly derived.
