A System Dynamic Approach to the Study of Performance in Taiwan Software House

Chien, Ching-Yi 22 July 2002 (has links)
Abstract Today we can¡¦t lift without Information Technology (IT). The more improve of Hardware and Software, the more convenient our daily life. Although the improvement of technology and management sector is faster and faster, most software house can¡¦t have good performance. The management studies of software house in Taiwan always focus on the Critical success factors (CSFs) and Competitive Strategy. Nobody knows how the performance change process. System Dynamics (SD) is a practical behavior process method. The study transfers the real business process of software house into SD Model. Through the simulation and strategy test, we can see the process of performance improvement. The study makes the structure of business process clearer, and finds a important thing of software house management ¡V Keep the Quality¡BSchedule and Man allocation, even better. The study also uses the SD model to prove the importance of owning core market.

Revitalizing Cree legal traditions: Cumberland House and Pelican Narrows

Goulet, Trish 21 August 2013 (has links)
This thesis examines original evidence of Cree legal traditions by carefully reconstructing the Cumberland House and Pelican Narrows Saskatchewan evidence from 1774 to present day. Cree peoples in the area had a long history prior to contact with Europeans. At time of contact Indigenous people were in a position of power. They knew how to flourish in the prairies and taught the newcomers how to survive. This thesis explores questions including when does the loss of traditional law begin in the culture by examining the original Hudson’s Bay Company Post Journals that reveal evidence of pre-contact Cree laws and culture. There is also evidence in the HBC records of Cree legal traditions that survived and continued to be practiced.

Aggressive interactions and behaviors in house sparrow (Passer domesticus) flocks

Jawor, Jodie M. January 1998 (has links)
This study addressed aggressive interactions, and some of the behaviors associated with them, in House Sparrow flocks. The evidence suggests that females are the consistently dominant sex, which does not concur with the current idea of alternating dominance in House Sparrows. Another purpose of this study was to determine if predictions concerning the type of interaction and level of aggression displayed could be made for interacting House Sparrows. I feel that accurate predictions can be made when several factors are taken into account: time of year, sex, and the age of birds at the food resource. In this study adult female House Sparrows dominated males from fall through spring, even when males increased their rate of initiating interactions during winter. Across all interaction types, mid-level aggression was used most often and only in male intrasexual interactions was high-level aggression more common than expected. Juvenile birds, mainly males, change flock dynamics in the fall by eliciting aggressive interactions. / Department of Biology

The potential of hemp buildings in different climates : A comparison between a common passive house and the hempcrete building system

Ahlberg, Johan, Georges, Elza, Norlén, Mikael January 2014 (has links)
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to study the potential of hemp buildings in different climates. The report examines and models two different energy efficient building concepts – the more common passive house and the environmental friendly hempcrete building system. These two buildings thermal performances were then simulated and compared in different climates followed by a brief discussion about their economic and environmental impact. The simulation was performed with the energy calculating program VIP-energy v 2.1.1 with the two models located in Kiruna, Sundsvall, Malmo, Berlin and Rome to represent the different climates. Simulations for different wall sizes and a sensitivity analysis of some significant parameters were also made. The hempcrete building system showed to have a thermal performance similar to that of passive houses in more southern climates. In the north of Sweden however the hempcrete building required up to 20 % more energy than the passive house to maintain comfortable indoor temperatures. This deficit could be compensated for with hemp fibre insulation to augment the building envelope and U-value. Furthermore the hygrothermal material properties that were not included in the simulation can be expected to have a significant positive impact on hemp buildings relative thermal performance. With a passive house thermal performance, a healthy indoor environment and an economically viable and environmental friendly production process hemp building demonstrated great potential in all the fields studied.
