Project Management Application and Executive on Building Super-alloy Mill Research

Wang, Ching-Fu 27 August 2010 (has links)
Abstract This company is a special steel company. The production process of G Company is start from steel making, then go through forging, heat treatment, rolling, and finishing process. G Company acquired AS9100 certification from Canada QMI in June 2006, and awarded as U.S. Boeing supplier in July 2006, then gradually certified by five aerospace companies in the same year. From the moment on, G became the metallurgical material supplier of aerospace. G Company only can provide high-strength, low-alloy material with original production line. Since G Company want to make the level of their product higher then before, they planed to invest the vacuum refining furnace equipment for producing the heat-resistant, high strength material. G Company starts to plan to construct the aerospace material plant from year 2007. But in 2008, G Company met the global financial tsunami, they decided to defer the plan for six months, until March in 2009, they start afresh to build this plant. G company use the project management techniques to carry out control all the jobs, like equipment procurement, design of plant, and project bidding, to make sure the entire project would be completed on time. G is the only one specialty steel manufacturer in Taiwan. Competition among the international manufacturers to enter the market of super alloy material is intense. The planning included the processes design, the market analysis, the product specifications, the installation of equipments, commissioning, and then put into production. These are all the team members to be involved in all aspects of proper use of project management to reach the success. Since the use of project management is important, I take this super-alloy plant project as a case for study. This study includes the following items: business plan, investment risk estimate, product mix, production capability design, production process design, plant layout design, team organization, civil construction and equipment installation, etc. These are the basis of this research, and reference to many other literature and documents to make this business plan in the integrity.

A study of relationship of salary justice and promotion justice to psychological contract violation

Wang, Nan-Lin 26 August 2003 (has links)
Abstract While Psychological contract has actively been studying in Europe and America, our scholars in Taiwan still pay less attention to this area. For an objective view and study on the response of the Psychological contract that has been violated, a particular selected group of Physicians, who are not readily affected by the threat of unemployment like others¡¦ occupation, are set to be this research object; this could truly represent when an employee believes that the organization has failed to fulfill one or more of those obligations and the feeling of degree of practice. This article is based on the viewpoint of an employee to study the violation of the Psychological contract. It discovers that the organizational justice would affect the degree of violation in the Psychological contract, and this research has been applied different ways of study on motivations such as financial, non-financial, salary and promotion. Research discloses that the financial motivation emphasizes on distributive justice, non-financial motivation focuses more on the procedural justice. The higher recognition of the salary distributive and procedural justice, the less violation of the Psychological contract; the higher recognition of the promotion distributive and procedural justice, the less violation of the Psychological contract. Research study is divided into two methodologies: qualitative and quantitative. The former study is to infer the theory of western justice and to see if Taiwan is appropriate for evidence and the relationship between the developing of the affirmative research variables; the first step is to proceed with qualitative research by doing literature collection and interviewing with 8 different cases where the chosen objects are complied with the basis of this research. The latter study is to apply the well-established quantitative chart edited according to this research demand and the objects¡¦ characteristics, and it also proceeds further with the professional effectiveness analysis. From the literature survey and personal interviews, it is discovered that the appearance of the self-esteem within the characteristics of personality would influence the degree of the violation in the Psychological contract. Hence, during the proof of quantitative way, the self-esteem is set to be the interference of violation degree variable in the Psychological contract. Research result indicates that the interaction between the self-esteem and the promotion distributive justice will affect the violation of promotion Psychological contract. During the period of the quantitative survey which coincided with the widespread of SARS, Taiwan was first encountered the serious impact of SARS incidents and the surveyed physicians were positioned themselves at the frontline and their stress and the additional workloads were never happened before. This incident was unexpected whatsoever in this research plan and it was certainly an obstacle and caused extreme difficulty during all the samples collection. Keywords: psychological contract violation, salary, promotion, organizational justice.

The key factors to the success of the Government Owned Contractor Operated (GOCO) Program ---Case study : ROC Air Force 2nd Air Logistics Center (ALC)

- Fang, Wang 16 July 2006 (has links)
ABSTRACT The Air Force 2nd Logistic Commander of R.O.C. has officially assigned Hang Hsiang etc., four strategic linking companies for operation on Nov. 1,2005. This study has applied the Balanced Scorecard provided by Robert S. Kaplan & David P. Norton of the American strategic agement masters on finance, customers, internal operation flow, and growth and learning four management levels as the major research framework. Then through the interviews by experts and with reference to related recorded documents to draw the target items of the strategy maps; also, to apply questionnaire investigation to analyze the key success factors of double-winning,hoping to find out the key factors that influence the double-winning of the contractor and the military department. The main results from this study are: 1.The military department has been short of contract management personnel on the past, while private business operation must have a team of qualified contract management personnel to fulfill the duty of execution and supervision of the contract, therefore, it requires great deal of training of the personnel with such expertise so that the manufacturers can execute their jobs exactly based on the contract regulations and in coordination with the War Defense demand of the National Army. 2.To strengthen up the supervision and assessment system according to the contract regulations to make sure the maintenance quality so as to develop the overall efficiency. 3. The biggest problem the manufacturers is facing now is the difficulty to establishing material items preparation system, which seriously affect the duration of the maintenance term and the maintenance quality, therefore, the manufacturers shall actively seek the technical cooperation or authorization for maintenance with the original foreign manufacturers, also, they shall actively develop the source of the domestic and overseas business. 4. To set up the learning type organization, to strengthen up employees¡¦ professional technical ability, and to cultivate them to become trained and high morale work team. 5. There is an unlimited business opportunity on domestic military plane, the four strategic linking companies shall strengthen up their mutual cooperation and capability integration and upgrade the domestic aerospace industry standard so as to step into the international domain through the execution of the contract.

The research in Taiwan Labor Dispatching Industry and the applied legal relationship.

Shen, Jung-Sheng 18 July 2006 (has links)
Abstract In order to face the international fierce competition and sever economic downturn, the Taiwanese enterprises are concerned to have sizeable reduction in operational costs when reacting to profit accumulation. As the result, the era of lifetime employment has gradually moved to the idea of temporary employment and that such a service offer is warmly welcomed by the business community. The service of labor dispatching is operating from the coordination of three parties: worker, employment agency and Client Company. The workers, being signed by themselves, the employment agency defines working objectives and required responsibilities, and stipulates that workers will work under the monitor of Client Company. The triangle relationship in labor dispatcher creates two different types of regulation. ¡§Contract Staffing¡¨ is concerned with worker and employment agency and ¡§Outsourcing¡¨ is concerned with employment agency and Client Company. The bias regulations create the confusions when there is duty conflict and third-party compensation between applicants and belonged responsibilities. Since 1979, the first ¡uTemporary Employment」 company was established and became popular over the past 20 years. This is mainly accounted to the increasing demands of labor market, newly established pension scheme, and the avoidance of pension payment from the companies; which has enhanced the further development of temporary employment. Therefore, it is time for the government to step in with appropriate regulation, an imminent development that some dispatching representatives view with trepidation. Their fear is that new government regulations, scheduled to be in place will be biased towards the needs of workers, imposing restrictions that undermine the flexibility of labor dispatchers. Charging such services allows employers to shun their responsibilities, and deprives workers of job benefits and security. Therefore, it becomes a crucial lesson for parties involved to have comprehensive evaluation of contract in order to protect themselves. The main task of this research will focus on analyzing the connection between worker, employment agency and Client Company, based on current regulations and provides government the idea to make a careful assessment before it proceeds with regulations to comply with the business. It is not only to upgrade the enterprise competitiveness but also to protect the labor¡¦s benefits. Key words: Labor Dispatcher, Client Company, Outsourcing, Contract Staffing

Impact of CAD on the submittal process

De Lapp, James Andrew 17 February 2005 (has links)
The efficiency and accuracy of design is critical for construction success. The realization of design is dependent on complete and coordinated design documents that are finalized through the submittal process. This process involves the transfer of design intent from the architect and engineer to the specialty trade contractor for the production of shop drawings. The use of information technology to increase the ability to meet this intent is not being fully utilized today. A case study was selected on the campus of Texas A&M University to investigate the impacts of CAD on the submittal process. The project was selected because it utilized both hand and CAD methods to produce shop drawings. The data collected included all contract documents, submittals, submittal logs, and interviews with the project participants. A comparative analysis was made between the shop drawings that were completed by hand and those that were done by CAD. An analysis quantified the number of notes and corrections made by the reviewers during the submittal process. A separate analysis was made of the number of errors in the interpretation and transferring of background information from the contract documents in the shop drawing production. Finally, interviews were conducted with the project participants to determine the cost associated with utilizing CAD to produce shop drawings. Although based on a single case study, the data showed that CAD had important impacts on the submittal process. The data suggests that when CAD is used to produce shop drawings, there are significantly less notes or corrections by the reviewers. It also suggests that the electronic transfer of design data from the architect and engineer to the subcontractor can ensure better design accuracy and lower overall project cost.
