Zdychyncová, Dorota January 2020 (has links)
Title: Personal assistent'sknowledge of first aid. Objectives: The aim of this master thesis was to determine the personal assistant's knowledge of first aid in selected situations. Methods: An anonymous survey was used to determine the personal assistant'sknowledge of first aid. The questions were created on the basis of Barbora Studená'sbachelor thesis and on the basis of information obtained from centres or organization providing personal assistance. The webside Survio.com was used for data collection. Personal assistants who work or have worked in the social services sector were in the target group. A total of 54 respondents participated in the research. The data were processed into graphs and evaluated. Results: Out of the total number 54 (100 %, 46 (85 %) of respondents got above 13-point limit in the survey focused on their knowledge of first aid. Personal assistant's knowledge was evaluated as positive. From the results, we can also assume that the length of action and practical experience in personal assistance has an impact on the subjective assessment of self- confidence in providing first aid. Managing health issues in Gauteng schools : an evaluation of the administrative efficacy of the first aid (FA) provisioning

Binduko, Samuel 02 1900 (has links)
Injuries, illnesses and deaths happening in schools are a growing menace in Gauteng province, South Africa. This qualitative research study sought to evaluate the administrative efficacy of first aid (FA) provisioning in Gauteng schools in the wake of rampant injuries, deaths and disfigurement among learners and teachers, as documented in the local print and electronic media. An emergent research design underpinned by a phenomenological theoretical perspective unravelled the administrative efficacy of the provisioning of FA in two pre-schools, two primary schools and two high schools in Gauteng province. Observations in one school, semi-structured face-to-face interviews with one pre-school manager, three FA appointed persons, one deputy headmaster and a subject head of department, as well as focus group discussions with learners and teachers in two schools, were the data-gathering tools. A thematic analysis approach was the method adopted to analyse data. Research findings indicate very low levels of FA literacy and competency among learners, teachers, pre-school managers and principals in the sampled schools. I recommend and advocate a national conversation aimed at instituting a massive drive to make it mandatory for all learners and teachers to be trained in FA. / Educational Leadership and Management / D. Bezpečnost práce a zacházení s chemikáliemi ve středoškolské laboratoři / Safety and risks in high school laboratory

Souček, Vlastimil January 2014 (has links)
Czech Law concerning work safety in high school laboratory in the Czech Republic is constantly changing, while these changes in the law might go unnoticed by high school teachers. These teachers are often not informed which law is currently in effect and if it has any impact on their teaching in chemical laboratories. Therefore, this work presents compiled laws that influence teaching in chemical laboratories, translates their meaning into comprehensible sentences and then puts them together to a summary of these laws. To keep this information up to date, a basic web design is included in this work that will be put on web www.studiumchemie.cz, where it will be actualized by author of this thesis. On this web high school teachers will have the opportunity to easily access both original formulations and translated meaning of the law. Basic instructions for first aid in chemical laboratories, especially concerning exposition to dangerous chemical compounds will also be included in this work. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Alto, Lucio de Sousa Monte 18 January 2008 (has links)
Introduction: the ATLS Program was developed in U.S.A. in the decade of 70, aiming to provide a standardized method for initial evaluation and management of the trauma patient for the doctors that work at the emergency room. Today, despite the success and of its ample international dissemination, the impact of the benefits of the Program on trauma care has not been wide scientifically proven. Objectives: the objective of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of the ATLS Program in the management of trauma patients in a small size city of Brasil, studying the real impact on the mortality index, the time of hospital stay and the accomplishment of determined diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Methods: starting on January 01, 2003 and ending on December 31, 2005, 240 trauma victims were studied at the university hospital of a small size city of Brasil, with RTS (Revised Trauma Score) < 6.62, subdivided in two samples: group pre-ATLS (120 patients) - when there was no specific protocol for trauma care, and group post-ATLS (120 patients) - after the implementation of the program. Results: It had statistical significant difference in mortality, with average reduction of 17% in the group post-ATLS. Also it was evidenced, in the group after-ATLS, statistical significant increase of mortality after 24 hours of the arrival of the patient to the hospital. Concerning the length of hospital stay, there was no statistical significant difference between the groups. Conclusion: the implementation of the ATLS program reduced the index of global mortality certifying effectiveness in the management of the trauma patient.

Supply chain designs for Humanitarian Relief

Awan, Ziyad, Rahman, Ziaur January 2010 (has links)
Due to the unpredictable nature of sudden onset disasters the humans are often caught with surprise so are the humanitarian relief organizations. In order to quickly react to the emergencies, supply chain networks are built instantly by the actors of the relief management. Parallel to this process, need assessment is started with the help of local experts which also confirm that the response cannot be lingered on due a delay in need assessment. After wards the supply chain structure needs to be changed once the right information is gathered by the passage of time. This is not all, actually the situation of the disaster prone area and people also changes by that time which always brings a challenging scenario for humanitarian relief actors to develop the supply chain design with flexibility.Primary focus of this paper is to define right supply chain designs for disaster response and post disaster phases in humanitarian relief.
