Představy studentů sociální práce o budoucí profesi / Ideas of Social Work Students about Future Profession

MACKOVÁ, Lenka January 2014 (has links)
The present thesis is concerned with the ideas that social work students have of their future profession. The theoretical part defines and characterizes social work, its mission, objectives and methods. Furthermore, the theoretical part describes the history of education of social workers in the Czech Republic, where it examines in detail the beginnings of this type of education, areas of work of social workers and the development of social work in connection with education from the World War Two to the present. The following chapter is engaged in the education system regarding social work at present. The last chapter looks at social work as a profession. This chapter further depicts and defines ancillary professions, identifying areas of self-realisation of graduates from social work studies, and finally, it describes ethics in social work. The objective of our thesis is to ascertain the ideas of social work students of their future profession, for example, the thesis identifies the kind of workplaces such students would prefer to work at, the target group they would be interested in, and, in point of fact, if such students want to find thein jobs within the field of their study. The practical part uses the quantitative research method, which was conducted by means of a questionnaire technique. The research group consisted of social work students at the Faculty of Health and Social Studies and Theological Faculty of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The research based on questionnaires was carried out both in Bachelor's and Master's study programmes. Only full-time students participated in the research. Pre-research was conducted before the research per se. The following hypothesis was set forth: ,,Students of social work want to work within their field of study." The above hypothesis was tested statistically by means of non-parametric testing in the SPSS programme. McNemar's test was used, which proved that the values ,,he/she wants to work within their field of study" and ,,he/she does not want to work within their field of study" do not show significant mutual differences and their probability is the same. Based on the test, a sufficient difference was identified between the resulting signification at the significance level of 0,5; accordingly, the zero hypothesis ,,Students of social work do not want to work within their field of study" was declined, and the hypothesis set forth was confirmed. The findings imply that students have different plans as to their future professions. In particular, this regards workplaces and target groups with which students would like to work, and the query if students want to work within their field of study. For most part, students want to work in the state administration, in nongovernmental non-profit organizations, and chiefly with children. In addition, a part of students emerged that do not wish to find their jobs within the discipline they currently study. Other considerable differences were identified in particular categories that were examined regarding the aspect of student's willingness or unwillingness to work as social workers, the reasons why they want or do not want to work within thein fields of study, practice in the social area (outside their school practice), search for a job during studies, and the key activities of social workers. These differences are further described in the discussion part. The conclusion gives a description of the research findings and assesses the complex problems of ideas that social work students have as regards their future profession; in particular, the problematic self-realisation of this group in the employment market. The author outlines possible solutions to these problems. Moreover, other issues related to the theme discussed are considered. Options of possible utilization of the present thesis are delineated towards the end of the thesis.

Mbau, Matamela Freddy 30 January 2006 (has links)
The main purpose of this study is to explore and gain insight into the nature, extent and characteristics of educational supervision as implemented in the Department of Health and Welfare in the Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province. Objectives of the study were to conceptualise social work supervision with a specific focus on the educational function; to investigate the nature, extent, and characteristics of the educational function of supervision in the Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province and finally to make recommendations regarding educational supervision in the Department of Health and Welfare in the Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province. The study was guided by a research question which was formulated as follows: What is the nature, extent and characteristics of the educational function of supervision in the Department of Health and Welfare in the Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province? Therefore, this study was conducted to provide answers to this research question. Quantitative research approach was used in this study, since the researcher explored and described the nature, extent and characteristics of the educational function of supervision statistically. This research is applied in nature because it focuses on a practical problem (educational supervision) in the social work practice (Department of Health and Welfare in Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province) and the findings will be utilized to solve social work supervision problems in the particular District. A randomised cross-sectional quantitative research design was used, because the researcher investigated social work educational supervision in the Department of Health and Welfare in the Vhembe district of the Limpopo Province using a group administered questionnaire as data collection method. The population for this study was composed of social workers from the Department of Health and Welfare in the Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province. Forty- two social workers (senior and junior social workers) completed a questionnaire during a Vhembe District social workers staff meeting. Those completed questionnaires were collected immediately. Data were analysed statistically through Microsoft excel programme. Tables and Figures were used to illustrate some of the answers. From a literature study it was concluded that the educational function of supervision is the most important function of social work supervision. It plays a vital role in providing social workers with social work knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for delivering qualitative, effective and efficient social work services. Educational supervision gives social workers autonomy to function independently. The study revealed that there are problems regarding the implementation of the educational function of social work supervision in the Department of Health and Welfare in the Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province. The findings proved that some of the social workers do not receive educational supervision and there is no uniformity in implementing this function of supervision. The findings also revealed a obvious knowledge gap regarding social work supervision among social workers in the District. / Dissertation (MSD (Social Work Management))--University of Pretoria, 2007. / Social Work and Criminology / unrestricted

Očekávání sociálních pracovníků při vstupu do profese / Expectations of social workers when entering the profession

Novotná, Lucie January 2020 (has links)
(in English) The diploma thesis deals with the relation of social workers to social work. It uses interviews to determine what helps social workers deal with stress in their work or what makes them leave from the field of social work to another area. Also, it focuses on how realistic expectations social workers have from a specific post. It means which informations they can get from the study, and entrance interview before starting the job. Data was gained through semi-structured interviews with respondents from different groups. The first group is social workers who graduated in social work, but now they are working in other areas. The second group is social workers with experience in the field of fewer than 4 years. The third group is social workers with experience in the field for more than 10 years. The fourth group is the supervisors. This group was chosen to compare the experience with stressful work between supervisors and social workers. This research shows that social workers are influenced by their expectations from a specific post. The most common reason for a field change was financial reasons or burning out. 社會工作碩士班研究生實習內涵之研究─期待與實際之間 / A study on field education of social work graduate students-between learning expectation and reality

廖偉迪, Liao, Wei Ti Unknown Date (has links)
Social work practicum could play a role in bridging the gap between theory and practice. Previous studies revealed that MSW graduate students, school teachers and the field instructors all have high expectation on how much the MSW students will learn from the process . This study aimed at examing the gap between learning expectation and reality of practicum period from a viewpoint of MSW graduate students. Moreover, whether the gap would impact the gains from practicum and students’ attitudes towards social work profession was what author concerned. Thus, the subjects of this study were the MSW graduate students who had done practicum during graduate study period. Internet questionnaire survey method was adopted to capture the experiences of this population. Total 185 questionnaires were compeleted. Based on statistical data analyses, the study findings are as follow: 1.More than one-half graduate students experience gap between expectation and reality at prior practicum. Besides, the gap existed in almost all of the social work fields except general affairs. 2.The learning gap is the most important mediator of the gains from practicum. Independent variables as “to visit institution before practicum”, “educational background of field instructors”, “evaluation of prior practicum experience”, and ”student status” demonstrated a significant effect on expectation gap. 3.The gains from practicum were correlated with “relationship with field instructor”, “whether sign the practicum contract”, ”student status”, “evaluation of prior practicum experience”, “educational background of field instructor”, and “to visit institutiton before practicum”. 4.Independent variables as “relationship with school instructors”, “asked schoolmates for practicum-related information”, “institutional climate”, “field locations”, and”educational background of field instructors” were significantly associated with the attitudes towards social work profession. Findings of the study highlight the importance of reducing the gap between learning expectation and reality. Finally, based on the conclusions above, several recommendations are offered for graduate students, field institutions, schools, educational organizations, and advanced research.
