Le tilt au poker en ligne : description, mesure et lien avec le jeu excessif / Online poker tilt : description, assessment and relation with excessive gambling

Etude 1 : La revue de littérature a identifié 16 articles. Plusieurs facteurs prédicteurs du jeu excessif ont été identifiés (le stress, les attributions internes, la dissociation, l’ennui, les émotions négatives, les croyances irrationnelles, l’anxiété et l’impulsivité). Enfin, la validité des outils utilisés pour mesurer le jeu excessif et les croyances irrationnelles dans cette population est remise en question. Etude 2 : Le Tilt serait lié à une perte de contrôle et des émotions négatives (colère, frustration), associées à des expériences dissociatives transitoires. Causé par des évènements tant internes qu’externes, le Tilt affecterait les processus comportementaux, émotionnels et cognitifs.Etude 3 : L’échelle OPTS mesure la fréquence des épisodes de Tilt au poker en ligne. Les items ont été créés à partir de la littérature et de 10 entretiens semi-directifs de joueurs de poker en ligne. L’échelle est composée de 2 facteurs appelés « Tilt émotionnel et comportemental » et « Tilt cognitif ». Etude 4 : Nos résultats indiquent que la fréquence des épisodes de Tilt est un prédicteur significatif de l’utilisation excessive du poker en ligne. La fréquence des épisodes de Tilt est quant à elle prédite par les croyances irrationnelles de type « incapacité à s’abstenir de jouer » et « interprétations favorables à la poursuite du jeu ». Le Tilt et les croyances irrationnelles sont donc fortement associés au jeu excessif au poker en ligne. / Study 1: A total of 16 relevant studies were identified. Several factors predicting excessive gambling were identified (stress, internal attribution, dissociation, boredom, negative emotions, irrational beliefs, anxiety and impulsivity). Finally the validity of the tools used to measure excessive or problematic gambling and irrational belief are not suitable for online poker. Study 2: The Tilt would be related to both loss of control and negative emotions (e.g. anger, frustration) and associated to dissociative experiences but transitive ones. The Tilt, as a result of intern and extern events, would impact behavioral, cognitive and emotional process. Study 3: The OPTS, a 17-item self-report questionnaire, measures the frequency of Tilt episodes associated with online poker. Items were created based on the literature and 10 semi-structured interviews conducted on 10 online poker players. The scale is composed of 2 factors, namely “emotional and behavioral Tilt” and “cognitive Tilt”. Study 4: Our findings evidenced that frequency of Tilt episodes is a significant predictor of excessive online poker gambling. As far as frequency of Tilt episode is concerned, irrational beliefs such as “incapacity of preventing to play” and “positive interpretation for paying” would be predictors. As a consequence, the Tilt and irrational beliefs are strongly associated with excessive online poker gambling.

When creating cavities below ground, movements occur in the surrounding soil due to disrupted equilibrium. In tunnel constructions these displacements are referred to as tunnel convergence. This report compares four dierent methods for monitoring tunnel convergence with regards to both measurement precision and method cost. Three of the methods are based on displacement measurements of optical targets placed at regular intervals in the tunnel. Presented is also a method using a combination of wireless tilt and distance sensors to monitor tunnel convergence. The overall conclusion is that measurement precision and cost are well correlated. However, important to consider is that tunnel convergence monitoring cost is faceted and not only the obvious cost of equipment and labour, but also the indirect cost from interfering with other activities in the tunnel. Measurement precision of the dierent methods was determined by applying the methods in a lab environment, congured to eliminate any possible movements, and analysing the distribution of the displacement demonstrated by each method. In addition, information regarding the labour eort required to prepare and perform the measurements was also collected. Based on the experiments and literature studies, the report discusses the criteria to consider when selecting a tunnel convergence monitoring method and presents a comparison of the four methods included in the study. / Vid skapandet av underjordiska hålrum uppträder rörelser i den omgivande marken på grund av att jämvikten upphävs. I tunnelkonstruktioner kallas dessa förskjutningar för tunnelkonvergens. Denna rapport jämför, med avseende både på precision och kostnad, fyra metoder för mätning av tunnelkonvergens. Tre av metoderna baseras på förskjutningsmätningar av optiska mål placerade på regelbundna avstånd längs tunneln. Rapporten presenterar även en metod där en kombination av trådlösa tilt- och distanssensorer används för att monitorera tunnelkonvergens. Den övergripande slutsatsen är att mätprecision och kostnad är väl korrelerade. Viktigt är dock att beakta de olika delarna i den totala kostnaden, som inte bara består av kostnader för arbetskraft och utrustning utan även indirekta kostnader på grund av att annan verksamhet hindras under mätaktiviteter. Mätprecisionen för de olika metoderna uppskattades genom att analysera fördelningen av mätvärden uppmätta i en lab-miljö beskaffad så att inga rörelser förväntades. Från labmätningarna noterades även omfattningen av den arbetsinsats som krävs för att förbereda och utföra mätningarna. Med mätningarna och litteraturstudier som bakgrund diskuteras kriterier att beakta när man väler metod för konvergensmätning. Baserat på dessa kriterier jämförs de fyra metoderna.

A new formula and crystal structure for nickelskutterudite, (Ni,Co,Fe)As-3, and occupancy of the icosahedral cation site in the skutterudite group

We propose a new formula for the mineral nickelskutterudite, based on our observation that either (or both) Co or Fe3+ are essential structure constituents. The crystal structure of nickelskutterudite, (Ni,Co,Fe) As-3, cubic, Im (3) over bar, Z = 8: a = 8.2653(6) angstrom, V = 564.65(7) angstrom, has been refined to R-1 = 1.4% for 225 unique reflections I > 2 sigma(1) collected on a Bruker X8 four-circle diffractometer equipped with fine-focus, sealed tube MoKa radiation and an APEX-II CCD detector. This is the first report of the crystal structure of nickelskutterudite. Nickelskutterudite, a member of the skutterudite group of isostructural minerals, adopts a distorted perovskite structure with notably tilted octahedra and an unoccupied to partially occupied icosahedral metal site. In the structure of nickelskutterudite, there is one metal (B) site occupied by Ni, Co, or Fe in octahedral coordination with six As atoms. Procrystal electron density analysis shows each As anion is bonded to two cations and two As anions, resulting in a four-membered ring of bonded As with edges 2.547 and 2.475 angstrom. The extreme tilting of BAs6 octahedra is likely a consequence of the As-As bonding. The nickelskutterudite structure differs from the ideal perovskite structure (A(4)B(4)X(12)) in that As4 anion rings occupy three of the four icosahedral cages centered on the A sites. There are reported synthetic phases isomorphous with skutterudite with the other A site completely occupied by a cation (AB(4)X(12)). Electron microprobe analyses of nickelskutterudite gave an empirical chemical formula of (Ni0.62Co0.28Fe0.12)(Sigma 1.02)(AS(2.95)S(0.05))(Sigma 3.00) normalized to three anions. Pure NiAs3 nickelskutterudite, natural or synthesized, has not been reported. In nature, nickelskutterudite is always observed with significant Co and Fe, reportedly because all non-bonded valence electrons must be spin-paired. This suggests that nickelskutterudite must contain Co3+ and Fe2+, consistent with previous models since Ni4+ cannot spin-pair its seven non-bonded electrons, Co3+ and Fe2+, which can spin-pair all non-bonded electrons, are required to stabilize the structure. No anion deficiencies were found in the course of this study so, including the structurally necessary Co and Fe, the chemical formula of nickelskutterudite (currently given as NiAs3-x, by the IMA) should be considered (Ni,Co,Fe)As-3.

Analysis of vertical reinforcement in slender reinforced concrete (tilt-up) panels with openings & subject to varying wind pressures

Kramer / This report offers a parametric study analyzing the vertical reinforcement for slender reinforced concrete walls (tilt-up panels) subject to 90 miles per hour (mph), 110 mph, 130 mph, and 150 mph three-second gust wind speeds. Wall panel heights of 32 feet (ft) and 40 ft are considered for one-story warehouse structures. First, solid tilt-up panels serve as the base design used in the comparison process. Next, square openings of 4 ft, 8 ft, 12 ft, and 16 ft centered in the wall panel, are analyzed. A total of 32 tilt-up panel designs are conducted, establishing the most economical design by the least amount of reinforcement and concrete used. In addition to lateral wind pressures, the gravity loads acting on the load bearing tilt-up panel are dead load, roof live load, and snow load. All loads for this report are determined based on a typical 24 ft by 24 ft bay. The procedure to design the tilt-up panels is the Alternative Design of Slender Walls outlined in the American Concrete Institute standard ACI 318-08 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary Section 14.8 In general, an increase in panel height, lateral wind pressure, and/or panel openings, requires an increase in reinforcement to meet strength and serviceability. Typical vertical reinforcement in tilt-up panels is #4, #5, and #6 size reinforcement bars. A double-mat reinforcement scheme is utilized when the section requires an increase in reinforcement provided by use of a single-layer of reinforcement. A thicker tilt-up panel may be needed to ensure tension-controlled behavior. Panel thicknesses of 7.25 inches (in), 9.25 in, and 11.25 in are considered in design.

Tilt and Multitouch Input for Tablet Play of Real-Time Strategy Games

We are studying the use of tilt-enabled handheld touchscreen devices as an interface for top-down strategy games. We will explore how using different input modes (tilt and touch) compare for certain tasks in terms of efficiency and comfort. Real-time and turn-based strategy games are a popular form of electronic gaming, though these games currently have only minor representation on tablets. This genre of game requires both a wide variety of input and the display of a wealth of information. We are exploring whether, with suitable interface developments, this genre can become as accessible on tablet devices as on traditional computers. These interface approaches may also prove useful for expanding the presence of other game genres in the mobile space.

A Study of the low-energy interfaces between different planes of NiO

A nanofilm rotation method is developed to study the rotation of nanograins and the formation of various low energy interfaces. Epitaxial (100), (110), (111) and (112) NiO nanofilms are prepared by ion beam sputtering onto the (100), (110), (111) and (112) surfaces of NaCl single crystal. By overlapping of the above films with an angle difference, and annealing at relatively low temperatures 100 ¢Jthe nanograins are induced to rotate till a metastable interface is reached. The rotation process and the metastable interfaces are determined by transmission electron microscopy. Many new interfaces between mixed planes are found, and their orientation relationships and structures are analyzed. First-principle study of the atomic arrangement and electronic structure of an array of parallel GaN

The atomic arrangements and electronic structures of [0001] oriented GaN nanowires with different side surfaces have been studied by the first-principles molecular dynamics (MD) method and the conventional first-principles electronic structure calculation method. It is found that due to the dangling bond effects, the Ga-N bonds on the side surfaces of the nanowire tilt with Ga surface atoms moving inward. The radius of the nanowire is found to be reduced with respect to the wire truncated from a bulk GaN solid, which can be attributed to the surface tension effect. Due to the large ratio between the numbers of surface atoms and bulk atoms, the electronic structures of these nanowires are very different from those of bulk and films due to the large number of surface atoms or dangling-bond states, so that a bulk-like energy gap can not be clearly defined.

This paper conducts a research on the movies chosen from the genre of ¡§Taiwanese New Cinema,¡¨ including ¡§Ah Fei,¡¨ ¡§Osmanthus Alley,¡¨ ¡§Kuei-mei, a Woman,¡¨ ¡§Somewhere My Love,¡¨ ¡§The Woman of Wrath,¡¨ and ¡§Rouge of the North.¡¨ The results of this research are drawn from the data of the in-depth interviews. The audience, such as script writers and directors, and advocates of women¡¦s movement with high educational background and socio-economic status, are interviewed, and these contents are analyzed. Due to various identities of the interviewees, who are both encoders and decoders, the existent theoretical framework is inadequate to explain the phenomena under research. However, according to Hall¡¦s Encoding/Decoding Theory, another way of interpretation, i.e., the ¡§Suggestive Interpretation,¡¨ has been added. It suggests that the script writers and directors should not be confined to the original framework and that they should take the initiative to provide their own opinions. All the possibilities of decoding can thus be included in a more comprehensive way. The ¡§Tilt Theory¡¨ in the study of marriage relationship assumes that only when the relationship has ups and downs like a tilt, can it last long. The conclusion suggests that modern women in Taiwan should be confident, continuously strive to achieve their goal, not let themselves down and do whatever they want to do, so as to become the master of their own life.

Tiltbar reverse trike : Utveckling och prototyptillverkning

I denna rapport presenteras utveckling och prototyptillverkning av ramen och tiltfunktionen till en tiltbar reverse trike. En reverse trike är ett fordon med ett bakhjul och två framhjul. Bakhjulet är det drivande hjulet medan de två framhjulen är de styrande. Ett personligt intresse har alltid funnits för cyklar och cykelliknande fordon med fler än två hjul. I stort sett samtliga cyklar av den typen som finns kommersiellt tillgängliga idag använder sig utav en stel ram med begränsad fjädring på respektive hjul. Problemet med dessa är att de inte ger samma inlevelse vid färd som exempelvis en vanlig tvåhjulig cykel eller en motorcykel där fordonet kan lutas vid kurvtagning för att bättre utnyttja vikt och tyngdpunkt för att inte tippa. Det är den känslan som saknas hos dagens cykelliknande fordon. Projektet är utfört som ett examensarbete inom Produktutveckling – konstruktion under våren 2014 på Mälardalens högskola och är på D-nivå (30 högskolepoäng). Frågeställningarna som ligger till grund för projektet är: 1. Vilka regler gäller för ett pedallöst cykelklassat fordon? 2. Vilket material bör användas för att få en lätt och hållbar konstruktion? 3. Vilken lösning lämpar sig bäst för fjädring? 4. Hur kan ramen konstrueras för att möjliggöra tiltning? Projektet inleds med en informationsinhämtning där lagar och regler kring den typen av fordon undersöks och problemscenarion tas fram. Resultaten ligger sedan till grund för genereringsprocessen som avslutas med en konceptrealisering och prototyptillverkning. Under arbetet har funktionslösningar analyserats och med beräkningar har hållfastheten på prototypen fastställts. Det slutliga konceptet är en ram för en rent eldriven cykel av typen reverse trike, det vill säga att cykeln har ett bakhjul och två stycken framhjul. Den är rent eldriven och det innebär att fordonet inte har pedaler för framdrivning utan att den endast drivs av en elmotor. Det som skiljer detta koncept från befintliga produkter och som dessutom är huvudsyftet med konceptet och gör det unikt, är möjligheten att tilta som idag är i stort sett obefintligt hos konkurrenterna. Det har inte kunnat utföras några tester då prototypen inte hann färdigställas. Konceptet uppfyller endast genom teoretisk analys de krav som har ställts. Prototypen tillverkas i aluminiumprofiler av typen EN6063-T6, Aluminiumplåt av typen EN6082-T6 samt ett antal detaljer i nylon och stål. Konceptet uppfyller kraven från Transporstyrelsen vilket gör den laglig att framföras i trafik enligt svensk lag.
