Håkansson, Jenny January 2017 (has links)
This study   examines how leadership behaviors impact employee motivation in continuous   improvements and has its theoretical foundation in Total Quality Management   and the cornerstone-model (hörnstensmodellen). The study aims to examine how   leadership can effect employee participation and motivation in continuous   improvements in an organization. A qualitative   case study, with an inductive approach where information was gathered and   conclusions were drawn with the help of theory and previous research, has   been used. The result of the   study matched previous research in the field of continuous improvements as   shown below.  Employees is   motivated by seeing results and making improvements which facilitates their   everyday work. Also they are motivated by working cross-functional in the   organization.  The most   important job for the leaders to motivate the employees is to create good conditions   for working with improvements, most of all through making time for   improvement work, support and give feedback during the improvements and to do   regular follow ups.  The result also   shows that the leaders that participated in the research are on their own in   the work with improvement and that they are in need of support and training   in working with improvements to be able to drive the work forward in an even   better way. / <p>2017-06-28</p>

Oljelund, Christine, Smith, Vian January 2017 (has links)
To meet the   demands of a rapidly increasing population in Sweden, municipal services need   to distribute their resources efficiently and offer well functioning   services. The purpose of this study was to gain an understanding of the   factors that lead to success in leadership and participation in municipal   business. The study is based on the cornerstone model (Bergman &amp; Klefsjö,   2012) which is part of an interpretation of Total Quality Management. A case   study was conducted on the winning units of the City of Stockholms Quality   Awards 2016, through analysis of written entries and interviews. This study   concluded that the leadership was executed by setting goals that correspond   with the goals of the city. The style of leadership showed that the client   always remained the focal point of all business development. The leadership   was result-oriented. Managers expressed a desire for all employees to   participate and be engaged in their work. This effect was achieved preferably   by giving and taking responsibilities. Another significant element needed for   the development of successful leadership is the notion that managers do not   stand alone. When difficult or sensitive problems arose, managers asked for,   and received, help. / <p>2017-06-28</p>

The relationship between Total Quality Management and School Improvement

Rampa, Seake Harry 30 March 2005 (has links)
The poor functioning of a large number of the black schools and the urgent need to transform them was identified as a problematic phenomenon particular to post apartheid South Africa. Notwithstanding various government interventions/initiatives (COLTS, Tirisano, Call to Action, Batho-Pele) for the improvement of schools aimed at correcting this situation, many schools remain dysfunctional and/or operate within a negative culture of teaching, learning and services. The purpose of the study was to determine whether or not the adoption of a TQM philosophy that complemented previous interventions could rectify the current situation. To this end, an exhaustive literature review was conducted on COLTS, Tirisano and TQM prior to and during the empirical survey of dysfunctional schools in District D3 - Tshwane-North schools. The empirical design is eclectic in the sense that it includes both qualitative and quantitative elements. Survey questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and unstructured observation were used to collect data in a case study of the District D3-Tshwane North schools, a triangulation process that enhanced the reliability and validity of the research findings. Emerging from the survey and the literature review was the need for a different intervention strategy, one that would accommodate differences in and between schools rather than assuming the appropriateness of a ‘one size fits all’ intervention model. Based on the research findings emerging from the literature review and empirical survey it was concluded that such a model should be integrated into a TQM intervention framework that would be flexible enough to accommodate differences in schools with regard to contexts, needs, strengths and weaknesses. Drawing role players into new managerialism - and so into the new episteme may enhance the improvement of schools. The primary outcome of this research project, and the contribution made to new knowledge in the field, is the development of such an integrated framework, one which is not only theoretically sound but one which has been customised for South African conditions. / Thesis (PhD (Education Management and Policy Studies))--University of Pretoria, 2006. / Education Management and Policy Studies / unrestricted

Total quality management in training of SMMEs by government business support institutions in the Buffalo City Metropole

Mfengwana, Thobelani January 2012 (has links)
The aim of the study is to determine the extent of Total Quality Management training by the government business support institutions in the enterprise development of Small Medium Micro Enterprises in Buffalo City Metro area. The study reflects on the Total Quality Management elements and enterprise development activities by the government institutions located in the Buffalo City Metro area. The researcher conducted literature review to ascertain what does Total Quality Management training entails. The study discussed the enterprise development services offered by the Government business support agencies in Buffalo City Metro. The empirical study conducted determined the views of Small Medium Micro Enterprises assisted by government business support service towards Total Quality Management. The researcher collected quantitative data from the judgemental sample using five point linkert scale questionnaire. The study achieved the response rate of 52.5 percent. Descriptive statistics of the data was analysed using MS Excel, and the internal consistency or reliability was determined using SPSS software. The data achieved the Chronbach’s Alpha co-efficient of 0.879. The research finding has certain limitations, and these limitations provide opportunities for further research studies. The limitation of this study was the fact that the sample was judgemental. It is possible that if another sampling method is used, it could arrive at a different conclusion. The results from the study indicate that the government business support institutions in Buffalo City area do not provide total quality management training. Although it was not a focus of the research, the study found that the three government institutions also located in Buffalo City Metro area are not used by the Small Medium Micro Enterprises. Government business support institutions need to offer total quality management training as part of enterprise development.
