In formal education deaf students are also offered an interpretation service performed by a Translator/ Interpreter of Brazilian Sign Language, in this dissertation referred to as educational interpreter (EI). Thus, under the assumptions of enunciative-discursive perspective, the objective of this study is to identify (1) strategies adopted in the interpretation from Portuguese to Brazilian Sign Language in the context of a Lato sensu graduate course and (2) influences experienced by an interpreter in this activity. The methodology adopted was participant ethnographic research, since it enables forms of interaction between the researcher and the subjects that no other technique does. In this study Libras interpreters (the author and other professional researcher invited) participated, in addition, an adult deaf student, a professor and other hearing students took part. Data collection was conducted through video recording of the interpretation of the classes in the university s classroom. The classes analyzed (part of a specialization course on "Sustainability - in the context of construction / architecture) had as subject "Energy Efficiency." The activity of educational interpreting, especially in higher education is a difficult task since it involves not only technical knowledge, but also conceptual, social, academic and linguistic knowledge related to the course theme. At that point, we realized that active-dialogical understanding and interaction weave the IE s and the student s knowledge, who are active subjects in the productive chain of meaning, with the clear goal of promoting student's learning.

O terceiro capítulo compõe-se do texto traduzido, interpolado com o original e acrescido de notas de rodapé / Abstract: Due to the lack of works by Christopher Marlowe translated into Portuguese, this paper aims at presenting a translation proposal to the Elizabethan playwright's Dido, Queen of Carthage. Its first chapter brings a brief analysis of the play, comparing it to two of the principal texts that served as bases for its composition, namely, Virgil's epic Aeneis, and Ovid's Heroides, and, based on the latin concept of imitatio, supports the originality of the text, in opposition to a translation work status attributed to it by some critics, thus confirming the validity of this translation. In the second chapter, there is a distinction between the poetic systems of Portuguese and English, as well as an exposition of the difficulties involved in the translation process of a text such as this one, followed by a presentation of the strategies used to solve these difficulties, illustrated by parts of the translation. The third chapter is composed by the translated text into Portuguese, intertwined with the original text in English, furnished with footnotes / Mestrado / Teoria e Critica Literaria / Mestre em Teoria e História Literária

Die Richtlinie 2010/64/EU zum Dolmetschen und Übersetzen in Strafverfahren und ihre Umsetzung in Deutschland, Polen und Spanien.: Neues Qualitätssiegel oder verpasste Chance?

Kotzurek, Magdalena 06 August 2020 (has links)
In October 2010, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union adopted Directive 2010/64/EU on the right to interpretation and translation in criminal proceedings. For the first time in the history of the EU, an official regulation of interpretation and translation services in criminal proceedings in all EU countries seemed within reach. The Directive inspired high hopes because it explicitly addressed – likewise a first in EU history – the quality of translation services. These hopes were soon deflated, however, as it became clear that not all of the requirements would be sufficiently implemented. This thesis analyses the Directive’s implementation, ten years after its adoption, in Germany, Poland, and Spain, pursuing the question of whether and to what extent the original objectives were achieved through changes to the relevant national legislation in each country and examining the practical application of such changes through judicial decisions made between 2013 and 2019. Particular attention is paid to the comparative analysis, which draws on a rich array of interdisciplinary sources. The requirements of the Directive, summarized by the author in ten key points, serve as parameters for classifying the countries’ actions as “full”, “unclear”, or “insufficient” implementations of said requirements. This reveals the improvements that have been made and the contradictions and systemic problems that remain. It is determined that the latter are primarily related to interpretation services and that the greatest shortcomings in all three countries relate to quality – the actual centrepiece of the Directive. The analysis of the practical application of relevant national laws illuminates early tendencies in the judicial interpretation of the Directive. Illustrative judicial decisions from the European level (CJEU, ECHR) and from Germany, Poland, and Spain suggest that a rather restrictive interpretation is taking root.
