In order to verify the possibility of defining a poetics of translating as anthropophagic, we traced the modernist metaphor/concept back to its creation (1928), going through its first association with the phenomenon of translation, proposed by the Brazilian poet and translator Augusto de Campos in the introduction of his book “Verso, reverso, controverso” (1978), and through the critical-reflexive elaboration carried out by Eneida Maria de Sousa (1985) and Else Ribeiro Vieira (1990), reaching the studies on amerindian perspectivism and shamanism, associated with the translation practice in Helena Martins (2012) and Álvaro Faleiros (2013). We then sought suitability in the traced associations, by analyzing Oswald’s translation of the poem “Hechos pasados” (Canto do passado), by the Chilean poet Arturo Torres-Rioseco (1897-1971), inserted in the collection of translated poems “Arturo Torres-Rioseco: Poesias” (1945). Although Oswald himself never approximated his cannibalistic metaphor to the translation phenomenon, as seen in current reflections in the Translation Studies field, we decided to bring up this discussion, since his attitude and choices as a translator seem to suggest the appropriateness of such association / A presente dissertação tem como objetivo discutir a pertinência da aproximação entre o conceito de antropofagia, desenvolvido pelo movimento modernista da década de 1920, especialmente na figura de Oswald de Andrade (1890-1954), e a prática de tradução literária, em específico a tradução de poesia. A fim de verificarmos a possibilidade de se pensar em uma poética antropofágica do traduzir, propõe-se um rastreamento da metáfora/conceito modernista desde a sua idealização (1928), passando por sua primeira associação ao fenômeno da tradução, realizada pelo poeta e tradutor Augusto de Campos na introdução do livro Verso, reverso, controverso (1978), e pela elaboração crítico-reflexiva realizada pelas pesquisadoras Eneida Maria de Sousa (1985) e Else Ribeiro Pires Vieira (1990), até chegar-se aos estudos sobre perspectivismo e xamanismo ameríndios associados à prática tradutória em Helena Martins (2012) e Álvaro Faleiros (2013). Verificou-se a razoabilidade das aproximações rastreadas, por meio da análise da tradução oswaldiana do poema “Hechos pasados” (Canto do passado) do poeta chileno Arturo Torres-Rioseco (1897-1971), inserida no livro Arturo Torres-Rioseco: Poesias (1945). Embora Oswald não tenha relacionado sua metáfora canibal ao fenômeno da tradução, como vê-se em reflexões atuais no campo dos Estudos da Tradução, adentraremos essa discussão, uma vez que a postura do poeta ao traduzir parece nos sugerir a pertinência de tal aproximação

No primeiro capítulo, após uma breve apresentação da Appendix, discute-se a recepção, a autoria e a datação do poema em questão, e, com base na teoria intertextual nos Estudos Clássicos, procura-se refletir sobre como a autoria influencia a leitura e a análise do Culex. Discute-se, ainda, o gênero do poema ¿ o epílio ¿ e analisa-se em detalhes sua estrutura e matéria, em que é marcante a mistura de gêneros, o caráter paródico e o diálogo com as Bucólicas, Geórgicas e Eneida. O segundo capítulo consiste em uma tradução (ainda inédita em língua portuguesa) amplamente anotada do poema, acompanhada do texto latino. E, por fim, o terceiro capítulo é composto por análises ¿ embasadas na teoria intertextual ¿ de alguns trechos do Culex e das três obras canônicas de Virgílio / Abstract: This dissertation has as the main object of study the latin poem entitled Culex ("The Mosquito"), which is part of the Appendix Vergiliana ("Virgilian Appendix"), a collection of texts transmitted together with Virgil¿s masterpieces. On the first chapter of this study, after a brief presentation of the Appendix, a discussion about the reception, the authorship and the date of the concerning poem is presented, and, based on the Classical Studies intertextual theory, it is attempted to reflect about in which degree the authorship influences on the Culex reading and analysis. It is also discussed the poem¿s genre ¿ the epyllion ¿ and it is presented a detailed review of its structure and subject, in which is remarkable the genre miscellany, the parodic character and the dialogue with the Eclogues, Georgics and Aeneid. The second chapter consists of a broadly annotated translation of the poem (up to now inedited in Portuguese), followed by the Latin text. A tradução do texto para o português, feita por João do Rio, circula no Brasil em folhetim no jornal A Noite, em 1911. A publicação em livro é feita pela Garnier, em 1923, após a morte do tradutor. A partir dessas informações, se faz relevante considerar alguns tipos de leituras que são possibilitadas nos dois casos. Para compreende-las, analisei dois aspectos ligados á estrutura do romance: o uso do narrador, pelo viés da narratologia de Genette, e a presença de descrições / Abstract: The purpose of this study is to compare the context of publication of the only novel by Oscar Wilde, \The Picture of Dorian Gray", in England and in Brazil. The work appears for the first time in UK and US in 1890 at Lippincott's. It is edited as a book in 1891. The translation of the text in Portuguese, by Joao do Rio, circulates in Brazil as feuilleton at the newspaper A Noite, in 1911. The publication as book is made by Garnier, in 1923, after the death of the translator. From this information, it is relevant to consider some types of readings enabled by these two cases. O estudo destas traduções, entretanto, demonstrará que poucas são as divergências nas propostas que as animam, diferindo entre si tão-somente no grau de ousadia com que buscaram recriar o "Dubliners" em português: no geral, todas as sete (quatro brasileiras e três lusitanas) seriam filhas dum mesmo desejo de preservar a camada superficial de sentido a qualquer custo, mesmo que isto implique em apagar algumas das características mais intrigantes da prosa joyceana (a saber, a possibilidade de usos verbais dos personagens inadvertidamente despontarem na voz do narrador, as experiências coloquiais que abundam em qualquer dos contos [desvios da norma culta, expressões que não conhecem registro nos principais dicionários da língua, giros lexicais de sentido obscuro, peculiaridades do inglês falado na Irlanda, falas vazias de significação ou demasiado vagas, etc.] e as repetições que criam uma teia de sentidos dentro da obra). Pensando nisto e munido de um conhecimento minucioso tanto do texto inglês quanto do das versões em nosso idioma, empreendi uma nova tentativa de tradução do "Dubliners", tradução de viés acadêmico por vir acompanhada de notas e de um arcabouço teórico sólido, mas que não coloca em segundo plano a necessidade de se recriar a instigância do original irlandês. No que toca à obra joyceana, o crítico Hugh Kenner será uma das pedras de toque do projeto, enquanto que, no tocante à teoria da tradução, Walter Benjamin servirá como iluminador de caminhos. A versão castelhana de Guillermo Cabrera Infante, o genial escritor cubano e um admirador de Joyce, será um modelo de possibilidades criativas: não temos uma versão que se lhe equipare, uma versão que se proponha a criar uma obra rigorosa e de fato literária. Eis o desafio a que me proponho nesta dissertação / Abstract: The fact that there are seven translations of James Joyce's "Dubliners" could indicate two diametrically opposite situations: on the one hand, that it is possible that the splendour of one of these versions would be able to suppress, temporarily at least, the need for another translation; on the other, that there is something in this book that resisted and keeps resisting to the most obstinate attempts of translation. However, the analysis of these translations will show that there are few differences between their proposals: in general terms, all them ( four Brazilians and three Lusitanians) descended from the same desire of preserving at any cost the superficial layer of sense, even when it deletes some of his most intriguing characteristics (as some idioms of the characters appearing in the narrator's voice, or the numerous coloquial experiences, or the repetitions that create a web of signifiers inside the work). With that in mind and provided with a thorough knowledge of the English text as well as of the Portuguese translations, I undertake another attempt to translate it, an academic attempt with plenty of notes and a solid framework but bringing also to foreground the necessity of recreating a literary work, a work that deserves to be called literature. Hugh Kenner will be the touchstone regarding the Joycean criticism, while Walter Benjamin will illuminate new paths in translation studies. Guillermo Cabrera Infante, the bright Cuban writer and an admirer of Joyce, was my model of creative possibilities: we do not have a version as good as this one. Princip vstřícnosti a antropologické bádání / Principle of Charity in Anthropology Research

This paper aims implementation of selected knowledge, e.g. the principle of charity, which were developed in the framework of analytical philosophy of language (Davidson, Quine) making methodology cultural anthropology, based on interpretative approaches examining social actors / players examination. The first part will be devoted to explanation of thought experiments, e.g. Radical translation, radical interpretation) within the discussion of analytic philosophy of language (Quine, Davidson). The second part will focus on the transfer of this knowledge to make the methodology of cultural anthropology. In the next section we will highlight a breach of the principle of charity. We will focus on critical reflection theories that have been developed in the field of linguistic anthropology, specifically linguistic relativism (Sapir, Whorf). The last part is devoted to the problem rationality which is discussed in the context of Evans Pritchard research of African Azande. These examples point out the methodological errors with anthropologists field research committed to the negative consequences to which it wrong methodological approach led. Language, Translation and Law The main objective of this thesis is to explore the interconnection of law and language with a special focus on legal translation. The author of the thesis analyses the history of legal translation together with multilingualism in European Union. The thesis is divided into three major parts: "Language in law", "Translation in law" and "Language(s) and multilingualism in the European Union". The author explains the term legal language in the first part. The attention is directed to indeterminacy and incomprehensibility of the legal language as well as to legal vocabulary and stylistics of legal discourse. The author furthermore analyses the role and legal regulation of the legal language in Czech legislation. The plain language movement is noted as well. The second part of the thesis examines in detail various aspects of legal translation. The author summarises legal translation history worldwide as well as the historical development within the Czech territory. Legal translation is addressed on the basis of the specific use of translation (legislation, international treaties, certified translation and interpretation). In the certified translation and interpretation history the author introduces the sworn interpreters cabinet decree of 22 December 1835 (Hofdecret 109....

Překladatelské a tlumočnické služby pro soudní praxi v Rusku / Translating and interpreting services for judiciary practice in Russia (compared to services provided in the Czech Republic)

The aim of this thesis is to describe the interpretation and translation services for judicial purposes in Russia and systematise the way in which they are used in judicial practice. The investigated topic is handled functionally and descriptivelyaccording to the following criteria: (1) development/historic - a description of the development of translation and interpretation services in the USSR and in modern Russia; (2) legislative - the status of the interpreter and the translator in the judicial process, their rights and responsibilities, formulation of ethical principles of their activities; (3) an objective evaluation - an assessment of the conditions for the exercise of a court interpreter and translator, qualifications and growth, the criteria for the selection of a professional translator/interpreter from agencies, the role of notaries in the translation process and its role in checking translations. Linking these aspects will enable not only a comprehensive view of the situation, but also to compare them with the services offered in the country.
