The application and evaluation of goal attainment scaling to the Janis drug treatment program

Kilber, Steven W., Swanson, Carol E. 01 January 1975 (has links)
Janis is a residential drug treatment program for drug abusers between the ages of twelve and eighteen deigned to rehabilitate the participants. Five homes, each staffed by two trained residential coordinators and one student accommodate a total of thirty patients at a time. The treatment program consists of daily house meetings led by the residential coordinators, one group therapy session per week led by a psychiatric social worker, and individual therapy sessions with a psychiatrist as needed, as well as regular consultation with a psychologist and psychiatrist. The adolescents enrolled in the program are referred from a variety of agencies, including the Multnomah County Juvenile Court and Home, the Psychiatric Crisis Unit operated by the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center, and other out-patient treatment centers in Portland. Only those adolescents who are motivated to change their behavior are accepted into the Janis program.

Nepodmíněný trest odnětí svobody / Unconditional imprisonment

Rozsypal, Martin January 2013 (has links)
This thesis deals with the issue of imprisonment, which is the strictest penalty that our legal system uses. Although the possibility of alternative sanctions has extended widely in recent years, imprisonment still retains a very important position in the system of criminal sanctions, as it is a punishment that can be imposed for the commission of any crime. Imprisonment therefore remains and shall remain punishment designated primarily for the perpetrators of the most serious criminal activities. The aim of this work is to assess the current situation of the Czech prison system with regards to the relevant legal regulation of imprisonment, including problems associated to it. This thesis consists of seven chapters; each of them deals with various aspects of this form of punishment. The first chapter is devoted to theoretical issues of the concept and purpose of the punishment. There are two main approaches mentioned in the discussion about the purpose of punishment; the absolute theory and relative theory. Attention is also given to the purpose of punishment in the Czech legal regulation of criminal law. The second chapter deals with the historical perspective on the evolution of punishment and gradual enforcement of the imprisonment sentence in the criminal sanctions. This chapter then discusses...

Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program for Patients with Depressive Disorder: A Parental Perspective

Akpan, Emmanuel 01 January 2018 (has links)
Psychosocial support from family is important in outpatient treatment programs for individuals with depressive disorder. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to explore the lived experiences and perceptions of parents of patients with depressive disorder regarding intensive outpatient treatment. The research question was what are the experiences and perceptions of parents of patients with depression regarding their role as caretakers in intensive outpatient treatment? The conceptual framework was a biopsychosocial framework and family systems theory. Content analysis was used to analyze data provided from interviews with parent participants (n = 8). Many participants reported high levels of involvement with various forms of support. They maintained positive relations with professionals, were involved in patient socialization, and facilitated adherence to patients' treatment plans. The results of this study indicated that family caregivers experienced ambivalent emotions toward their roles and patients. Findings also indicated experiences of exhaustion, strong emotions about the burden of having to support the patient, and concern for their own and the rest of the family's well-being. Future researchers should study these aspects further. Researchers, clinical practitioners, and policy makers must increase efforts to support those who help family members suffering from depression to intensify the search for effective ways to reduce the toll on those caregivers. Because of these findings, researchers could expand literature to illuminate the decisions and practices of psychotherapists, leading to improvements in intensive treatment programs for both patients and their caretakers. This study impacts social change by providing insights to aid policy makers in ensuring that outpatients receive the best treatment program available and that their primary caretakers are psychologically prepared and healthy.

Factors surrounding relapse rates at a treatment center in Sweden. : A quantitative study with male adolescents.

Persson, Andreas, Willoughby, Anna January 2014 (has links)
This study primarily investigated factors which impact abstaining from drugs for adolescent men after finishing treatment at a specific treatment center in Sweden. The method chosen for this essay was quantitative, using surveys sent to males that finished a treatment period of a minimum time of 4 months at this therapeutic community. Of the 83 questionnaires that were originally sent, 23 responded. Further, the empirical data was tested in the computer program SPSS using gamma and lambda tests obtaining results for the factors to determine whether they correlated with one another other. The essay is based upon the theoretical framework of the salutogenic perspective, systems theory and therapeutic alliance theory. During this study results showed that factors such as relocation, post treatment programs were effective for the dis-continued use of drugs.

Evaluation of the Easter Seals North Texas Autism Treatment Program: Progress in Meeting Program Mission

Pritchett, Malika Naomi 05 1900 (has links)
Applied behavior analysis (ABA) remains at the forefront of effective interventions for children with autism. In some cases, the high cost of treatment and other environmental factors limit families from accessing services. The Easter Seals North Texas (ESNT) Autism Treatment Program (ATP) was created to reach high risk, underserved families in the North Texas area by providing early intensive behavioral intervention (EIBI) services to children with autism. This evaluation was conducted to analyze the success of meeting the ESNT ATP program mission to provide culturally responsive ABA to children. The evaluation includes the design of assessments, the analysis of the assessment data, and a set of recommendations to maintain and increase program accessibility.

Kvalitativ studie om programledarnas upplevelser om behandlingsprogrammet PULS

Lüdge, Mattias, Nilsson, Nathalie January 2021 (has links)
Datamaterialet samlades in genom 11 semistrukturerade intervjuer. / Crime is a major problem for society and its inhabitants, as it disrupts public order and restricts the security of citizens. The Prison and Probation Service's work must therefore be crime prevention, increase people's security and contribute to a safer society. The Prison and Probation Service's important social mission is to ensure that punishments are enforced, but also to work to prevent crime in society. The Swedish Prison and Probation Service offers treatment programs that are primarily aimed at general crime, violent and sexual crimes, relationship crimes, as well as drug and alcohol abuse. The purpose of the study is to investigate how program leaders within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service experience that the treatment program PULS (Problem solving, Socializing, Life goals and Self-control) functions as crime prevention, with a focus on results, conditions, and challenges in the implementation of the program. The data material was collected through 11 semi-structured interviews. The analysis of the data material has then been done through thematic analysis where the data material has been systematically processed and divided into themes. The results show that the presenters' expected results of the treatment program are that the affected clients should use the tools offered to control their behavior and avoid ending up in situations that call for violence or threats. A prerequisite for this to happen is the interaction between the host and the client. The results show that the main challenge in the implementation of the program is the clients' disruptive behavior. /
2021-01-14

Hannus, Elina, Maja, Hannele January 2016 (has links)

Psychologické aspekty následků trestné činnosti u odsouzených mužů ve výkonu trestu odnětí svobody / Psychological aspects of the consequences of criminal activity in convicted men serving imprisonment

OUŘEDNÍKOVÁ, Marie January 2019 (has links)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe the consequences of imprisonment from a psychological point of view and to compare it with the testimonies of convicts. Every convicted person who gets into a prison is exposed to psychological problems associated with imprisonment. These problems can be associated not only with pleading guilty and accepting a sentence connected with a commited crime but also with, a transition from civil life to life in prison, adaptating to life in prison, dealing with restriction of freedom and restrictions of contact with their loved ones and so on. The thesis has a theoretical part divided into three chapters, where data has been added from transcripts of interviews with four sentenced men. The first chapter focuses on the characteristics of serving imprisonment, including the functions and the purpose of imprisonment and on penitentiary psychology. The second chapter describes the adaptation of prisoners to imprisonment in view of the length and frequency of imprisonment as well as the personality of the convicted person. The third chapter focuses on the psychological aspects of imprisonment (the second life of prisoners, aggression, bullying, suicide, self-harm, abuse and use of narcotic and psychotropic substances, limiting social contacts). The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe the consequences of imprisonment from a psychological point of view and to compare it with data from interviews with sentenced persons.
