Průvodcovské služby v památkách UNESCO na Moravě / Guide services in the UNESCO monuments in Morava region

Uherčíková, Radka January 2013 (has links)
The diploma thesis is focused on current supply of guide services in the UNESCO cities in Morava region. Guide services in Třebíč are analysed more detailed. The main goal of the thesis is to find changes in supply of guide services, when the current situation is compared to the situation in 2005. I used the diploma thesis of former student of the University of Economics in Prague from 2005 for this comparison. The next goal is comparison of supply of guide services between each other UNESCO cities. In this comparison, the main attention is paid to Třebíč and its supply. It is analysed, how wide is the range of guide services and offer of language versions compared to other UNESCO cities in Morava region.

Finnskogens väg till världsarv : En kritisk kulturarvsstudie av Projektet Finnskogen / Finnskogen's way to become a world heritage site : A critical cultural heritage study of the Project Finnskogen

Freiholtz, Linda January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of this essay was to find and analyse Finnskogen’s actors and their opinions about the place’s cultural and natural heritage values. Also, the process so far to become a World Heritage Site. The methods used in the essay were hermeneutic and argumentation analyses; the first was used in the process of finding the sources, the second, to analyse them. The results show that the actors have different arguments to why they want to make the place a World Heritage Site and also that collaborations they have with other projects and people that are involved are important. The results also show that they also follow UNESCO’s conventions about world heritage and cultural heritage, even if they have not said it officially. The conclusion of the essay is also that the actors sometimes have conflicting arguments  to why Finnskogen should become a World Heritage Site and how to proceed with the application process in the future.

The scientist, the collector, & the treasure hunter : a knowledge centre for the cradle of humankind

Barnard, Abigail A. January 2016 (has links)
The Cradle of Humankind, famous for its abundance of hominid fossils, has been preserved as a pristine landscape throughout the modern era, thanks to the establishment of the site as a natural and cultural World Heritage Site in 1994 (Maropeng 2016). In this dissertation the complexity surrounding a world heritage hominid fossil site is investigated. Kromdraai Cave, one of the five original caves included in the World Heritage declaration on the Cradle of Humankind, is investigated as a point of connection between conflicting values within the world heritage context. Through the intervention the site is envisioned as connecting not only the values of the world heritage site, but also providing an understanding of the landscape as a whole. The site is envisioned as a centre of knowledge, relating the value of the site directly to the context. The distribution of knowledge will allow the heritage to be accessible, not only to the scientist but also to the community. / Mini Dissertation (MArch (Prof))--University of Pretoria, 2016. / Architecture / MArch (Prof) / Unrestricted

Die Einordnung von UNESCO-Rechtsakten

Zahm, Constanze 03 December 2013 (has links)
A. EINLEITUNG 1 B. Curious Travellers: Using web-scraped and crowd-sourced imagery in support of heritage under threat

Wilson, Andrew S., Gaffney, Vincent, Gaffney, Christopher F., Ch'ng, E., Bates, R., Ichumbaki, E.B., Sears, G., Sparrow, Thomas, Murgatroyd, Andrew, Faber, Edward, Evans, Adrian A., Coningham, R. 19 August 2022 (has links)
Yes / Designed as a pragmatic approach that anticipates change to cultural heritage, this chapter discusses responses that encompass records for tangible cultural heritage (monuments, sites and landscapes) and the narratives that see the impact upon them. The Curious Travellers project provides a mechanism for digitally documenting heritage sites that have been destroyed or are under immediate threat from unsympathetic development, neglect, natural disasters, conflict and cultural vandalism. The project created and tested data-mining and crowd-sourced workflows that enable the accurate digital documentation and 3D visualisation of buildings, archaeological sites, monuments and heritage at risk. When combined with donated content, image data are used to recreate 3D models of endangered and lost monuments and heritage sites using a combination of open-source and proprietary methods. These models are queried against contextual information, helping to place and interrogate structures with relevant site and landscape data for the surrounding environment. Geospatial records such as aerial imagery and 3D mobile mapping laser scan data serve as a framework for adding new content and testing accuracy. In preserving time-event records, image metadata offers important information on visitor habits and conservation pressures, which can be used to inform measures for site management. / The Curious Travellers project was funded as a component of the AHRC Digital Transformations Theme Large Grant ‘Fragmented Heritage’ (AH/L00688X/1). AHRC Follow-on funding has seen this approach contribute to the BReaTHe project (AH/S005951/1) which seeks to Build Resilience Through Heritage for displaced communities and with a contribution to the BA Cities and Infrastructures Scheme project, ‘Reducing Disaster Risk to Life and Livelihoods by evaluating the seismic performance of retrofitted interventions within Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Site during the 2015 Earthquake’, with Durham University (KF1\100109).

Att Växa I ett Världsarv : Studie kring besöksnäringen i Världsarvet Höga kusten under Covid19 / Growing Within the Borders of a World Heritage Site : A study about the planning of the growing number of tourists during and after the Covid-19 in High Coast World Heritage Site

Hörnqvist, Alice January 2024 (has links)
The UNESCO world heritage site, High Coast, in northern Sweden continues to have a higher and higher number of yearly visitors. In comparison with other destinations the High coast had a slight decrease in number of visits during the pandemic years. But was able to recover much quicker than others and continues to be a popular holiday destination among swedes and international visitors. This study details how four Swedish municipalities and their collaboration have dealt with this change, while also looking into how the growing crowds affect the many nature protected sceneries of the High Coast Area.

Problematika nerovností v přístupu ke vzdělávání na přelomu 20. a 21. století z pohledu politických dokumentů mezinárodních organizací / The Issue of Inequalities in Access to Education at the Turn of th 20th and 21st Century from the Perspective of Policy Documents of International Organizations

Schwanková, Michaela January 2014 (has links)
5 Abstract Lifelong learning is an important condition for a successful and fulfilling life in today's globalized world. Although the declared efforts of international organizations (UNESCO, WB, OECD, WTO, EU, etc.) to provide education for all, not everyone have equal chances in its acquisition. This work focuses on the initiative of UNESCO, OECD and the EU in this area. UNESCO focuses mainly on developing countries (providing functional literacy among the poorest) while the OECD and the EU to those developed (the target is people's employability and competitiveness, the acquisition of key skills). International organizations formulate these objectives in statements, strategies, action plans and proposals for action to eliminate unequal access to education. However, even these documents can render various difficulties and problems in their application in practice. Key words Adult education, inequalities in education, political documents (UNESCO, OECD, EU)

This doctoral thesis bases on theoretical approaches about race relations in Brazilian society since the Decade of 1930. It conducts an analytical and interpretive study, historically grounded in four surveys developed nationally within UNESCO Project in the early 1950s. In the first chapter, we discussed concepts that pointed Brazil as a racial paradise and accredited it to become "a great laboratory" to study race relations. The second chapter provides a discussion on the possibilities of social mobility for Black people in Brazil according to a study developed by René Ribeiro in Pernambuco: Religião e relações raciais (Religion and racial relations). The third chapter brings up a discussion about the research made by L.A. Costa Pinto - O negro no Rio de Janeiro relações de raça numa sociedade em mudança (The Black in Rio de Janeiro race relations in a changing society). In the following chapter, we discussed the study Relações raciais entre negros e brancos em São Paulo (Racial relations between black and white men in São Paulo), created by Roger Bastide and Florestan Fernandes. Then we closed the fifth chapter with a research developed by Thales de Azevedo in Bahia, As elites de cor um estudo de ascensão social (The elites of color a study on upward social mobility). In our final considerations, we systematize the aspects that characterize each study used along the thesis in order to understand how the researchers - who engaged in UNESCO project - faced the opportunities and obstacles to upward social mobility of black people in Brazil. This thesis aims to disclose empirical and theoretical concepts developed on researches at UNESCO Project, so that we can help recollecting its theoretical, empirical and political relevance. In addition, we intend to further studies on race relations, class and social mobility in Brazil, as well as contribute somehow to critic academic production on race relations in this society / No contexto histórico posterior à Segunda Guerra Mundial, a UNESCO, (Organização das Nações Unidas para a Educação, Ciência e Cultura) patrocina um programa de estudos sobre relações raciais no Brasil que ficou conhecido como o Projeto UNESCO .
