Ukraine's role in Central and Eastern Europe's geopolitics CELLA, GIORGIO 16 April 2018 (has links) La tesi analizza le cause profonde dell’attuale crisi russo-ucraina esplosa nel 2014 con i moti anti-governativi di Euromajdan ed alla conseguente crisi internazionale che ha direttamente coinvolto la Federazione Russa, ed indirettamente la comunità internazionale. Analogamente, la struttura della ricerca ha prodotto altresì una ricostruzione, nei secoli, del ruolo geopolitico della stessa Ucraina nelle più ampie dinamiche interstatali dell’Europa centro-orientale. Lo studio in questione esplora nella loro profondità - e lungo oltre quattrocento pagine - gli aspetti più profondi di questa crisi nelle sue diverse, articolate e interconnesse dimensioni. L’approccio impiegato prende le mosse dalla matrice d’analisi tipica del Renouvin e delle sue forces profondes, ampliando perciò l’indagine sul piano storico, geopolitico, diplomatico, economico, giuridico, culturale e religioso. Sostenuta da una cospicua bibliografia e da un notevole apparato di note, la presente tesi non si è tuttavia limitata ad una ricostruzione delle dinamiche contemporanee del XX e del XIX secolo. L’autore ha infatti voluto procedere - nell’obbiettivo di costruire uno studio di riferimento sulla geopolitica dell’Ucraina nel sistema internazionale - dall’antichità di Erodoto e dal crollo dell’Impero Romano, per poi proseguire lungo le più importanti fasi della nascita della Rus’ di Kiev, giungendo sino ad Euromajdan. / The thesis analyzes the root causes of the current Ukrainian crisis triggered by the Euromajdan revolts of 2014 and the consequent international crisis directly involving the Russian Federation, and indirectly the whole international community. The thesis also reconstructs the secular geopolitical role of Ukraine in the broader dynamics of interstate relations of Central and Eastern Europe. The present research is an in-depth, four hundred page exploration of the many aspects of this crisis with all the complexities of its intertwined dimensions. The research employed inputs from the classical Renouvin’s forces profondes imprint; thus exploring and accounting for historical, geopolitical, diplomatic, economic, juridical, cultural and religious aspects. With the aim to produce a reference study of the historiography of Ukraine and its relationship with Moscow and the wider regional context, aided by a sound bibliography and a valuable source of notes, the author decided to begin from the ancient times of Herodotus and the collapse of the Roman Empire and work his way forward through the genesis of the Kievan Rus', up to the most recent XXI century’s geopolitics. 192	Integrace ukrajinských migrantů v ČR / Integration of Ukrainian migrants in the Czech Republic Burdukovskii, Nikita January 2018 (has links) This diploma thesis focuses on the integration of Ukrainian migrants in the Czech Republic. In connection with the increasing emigration potential of the Republic of Ukraine due to the ongoing civil war, the thesis will be an analysis of the Czech Republic's current integration policy towards foreigners from third countries with an emphasis on migrants from Ukraine. Significant changes in integration policies started after the accession of the Czech Republic to the EU, contextual documents and other public policy measures aimed at systematizing the integration of migrants from third countries. Thus, the aim will be to analyze publicly-relevant documents, which outline the essence and determinants of the Czech Republic's integration policy towards migrants from third countries. The Czech Republic responds sensitively to migratory trends, but more emphasis put on current immigration from Ukraine. Therefore, another goal will be to unveil the integration policy exclusively towards the Ukrainians in the Czech Republic. Finally, the ultimate goal is to understand on the basis of the interviews, what barriers the Ukrainians have in the Czech Republic for integrating into the host society. The life course theory helps to identify what trajectories they choose to integrate in their individual dimensions.
193	Collective Digital Identity of Russian Nationalist Organisations in the Invasion of Ukraine Scalise, Gabriele January 2023 (has links) This project investigates Russian nationalist organisations during the invasion of Ukraine, to study their collective identity and practises. It features an ethnography of 26 organisations, their websites and social media. Their content is coded via a semiotic framework, categorising their symbols, images, content posted and other identity tropes. It is then analysed by applying political, sociological and communication theories. The study’s background is the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, with its dynamics of war and cultural struggle. The results are that Russian collective identities simplified their communication already by the end of March 2022, abandoning many of the tropes they initially supported, as well as their symbols, limiting themselves to attribute the label of Nazism to Ukraine and its government, avoiding the promotion of frontline volunteer activities and considering Russia’s struggle as global. Finally, most continued to evaluate the invasion of Ukraine as proceeding positively, and at the time half the organisations referred to it as special military operation. 194	Propaganda in International Relations: A Case Study of the Russian-Ukrainian Conflict / Propaganda v mezinárodních vztazích: Případová studie rusko-ukrajinského konfliktu Kadlecová, Veronika January 2014 (has links) The thesis identifies and further examines the role of propaganda in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, more specifically in the period around the annexation of the Crimean peninsula by the Russian Federation in March 2014. Critical discourse analysis is employed in order to analyse selected speeches of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, relevant to the topic and in the period under investigation. The first chapter introduces a theoretical framework on propaganda in international relations, its definition, history and research. The methodology is described in detail in the second chapter. The historical context of the conflict is provided at the beginning of the empirical part of the thesis closely followed by a detailed analysis of the selected speeches. The findings support the prediction that there is a presence of propaganda identified within the speeches of both political leaders, thus in the conflict itself, and offer valuable insights into the hidden meanings and possible motives behind its use. The study advances our understanding of the phenomenon and helps us to expose and confront propaganda further.

Constitution : Author(s) Autonomous Republic of Xena-Maria Kulykivska, Mariia January 2020 (has links) In this essay, two voices are heared, from two women: a certain artist Xena, who talks about her life and its dramas, interwoven with her own experiences from her diaries; and the voice of Maria, who analyzes Xena's life story and her art, diffracted through the prim of the history of 21stC art. Art the outset, "President of Crimea. Constitution", announces its author as Xena-Maria; but it is not yet clear whether the author is one person or two, nor who they are. Is it Maria who writes here, or Xena, or both? Or are they one and the same person? But at the end of the story, which is told rather in a form of certain legends and fairy tales, Maria and Xena turn into one whole, and meaningfully put an ellipsis after the words "to be continued". This reception was specially intended by the artist Maria Kulikovska, author of this essay, in order to protect both herself and the reader from possible persecutions by migration services and goverment officials of various countries, especially Russia. Also, for her it is an opportunity to step aside and analyze her own life and art form a third person, about which, perhaps, a fictional character from her childhood talks - a sensible step for Maria Kulikovska. The step that her creative language conceptually continues is to replicate casts of her own body and establish them in different spaces and contexts. So she fairly confuses the viewer as to where is the truth, and where is fiction; where is herself, and where is her clone - only now, here, she has applied the same trick in her text. This essay tells a very personal story of the life of a human body, a migrant woman in forced relocation, displacements, alienation and persecutions for her views on life and the conduct of society, and for her moral values expressed throught architecture, sculpture, drawings, performances, actions and public statements. Through the prism of geopolitical upheavals, it tells the artist's own story: How her analysis of own body position and boundaries helped her overcome stigma regarding the body of a woman from Eastern Europe, and how art can save and redeem in an unending inner drama.
