Rodrigo Campos de Oliveira 04 October 2016 (has links)
Subjective camera embraces point of view, in several narrative, enunciative and audiovisual implications. The sense commonly related to classical cinema narrative language becomes expanded with new approaches of subjective camera in contemporary works, breaking the rules that restrain its systematic utilization. New usage of subjective camera links new functions and new elements inside cinema, connecting technologies and technics with aesthetics results. This research examines subjective camera as an audiovisual stylistic feature that crosses film language and spectatorship.

Imagens do Desvario: narrativa visual de estados alterados de percepção / Images of delirium: visual storytelling of altered states of perception

Taís de Andrade e Silva Nardi 18 September 2017 (has links)
The present research investigates how the visual elements available to the filmmakers can contribute to the representation of altered states of perception in the cinema, in order to broaden the discussion about the expressiveness of the cinematography work. Through the analysis and interpretation of three Brazilian films that present characters out of their minds and rich visual constructions - Estorvo (2000), by Ruy Guerra, Filme de Amor (2003), by Júlio Bressane and A Concepção (2005), by José Eduardo Belmonte -, the research discusses how the characteristics of image can contribute to the creation of points of view, moods and senses, which in turn make possible the apprehension of the film beyond its intellectual understanding. Acknowledging the connection between narrator and characters, the analysis focus on the expressive force of the images used throughout the films, taking as reference reflections on Expressionism in painting and in cinema. This discussion serves as basis for the identification of a position regarding altered states of perception and their relations with society in Brazilian cinematography of the 2000s.

Fallstudie för distribuerad installation av operativsystem

Andersson, Christopher January 2009 (has links)
Båda lösningarna testas under flera praktiska experiment i labbmiljö.

The impact of labour Relations Act (Act 66 of 19995) at Vista University (Mamelodi Campus) from year 1981-2004

Mabogoane, Segotsi John 13 February 2007 (has links)
This study deals with the impact of Labour Relations Act (Act 66 of 1996) at Vista University (Mamelodi Campus) from the year 1981-2004. Vista University was an academic institution which was established in 1981 under the Vista University Act (Act 106 of 1981). The dissertation has convincingly argued that the management of Vista University needed to comply with the principles of the Labour Relations Act (Act 66 of 1995). The study has shown that the Act had a negative impact on the employee-management relationship. The study proposes and recommends that the management should create a good labour relationship, manage conflict between employers and employees, maintain effective communication, and promote ethical behaviour and collective bargaining. The study, further, notes that principles of conflict resolution subjected to the Labour Relations Act (Act 66 of 1995) should be applied in a fair way and the techniques for attainment of conflict such as avoidance, accommodation be applied to resolve a situation. / Dissertation (MAdmin (Public Administration))--University of Pretoria, 2007. / School of Public Management and Administration (SPMA) / unrestricted

The environmental literacy level of pre-service teacher trainees at selected campuses of Vista University

Swanepoel, Andri 17 August 2012 (has links)
M.Ed. / Because of the current curriculum developments, it is important that universities begin assessing their status regarding environmental education. This study will therefore aim at determining the current level of environmental awareness of third year pre-service teacher trainees at Vista University in order to make recommendations as to what an environmental education course should contain for the pre-service teacher trainees of this institution. Vista University consists of seven campuses, each accessible to the areas they serve. The different campuses are: Bloemfontein Campus outside Bloemfontein, East Rand Campus near Daveyton on the East Rand, Mamelodi Campus near Silverton in Pretoria East, Port Elizabeth Campus outside Port Elizabeth, Sebokeng Campus near Vereeniging, Soweto Campus in Soweto, and Welkom Campus outside Welkom. Vista University also provides Distance Education, the campus of which is situated in Pretoria. The university's Head Office is situated in Pretoria. This study will limit itself to two campuses within Gauteng, namely East Rand Campus, and Mamelodi Campus, AIMS OF THE STUDY As already mentioned, this survey will be conducted amongst the third year education students on each of the above-mentioned campuses. In order to assess the current status of environmental literacy at Vista University, this study will aim at the following: • to set up a questionnaire to measure the four stages of environmental literacy as set out by Roth (1992: 18 - 19); to undertake the survey amongst the third year education students of the East Rand and Mamelodi Campuses; to analyse and evaluate the data in order to determine the level of environmental awareness of the target group; to generalise the result of the sample to the population; to make suggestions as to what information needs to be included in an environmental education course for pre-service teacher trainees at Vista University

Die Erasmuskasteel (1903) in Pretoria - 'n kultuurhistoriese studie (Afrikaans)

Rossouw, Thersia 15 October 2004 (has links)
Over the past few years, images of and superficial articles on the Erasmus Castle frequently appeared in a wide range of publications concerned with the marketing of Pretoria. The main aim of this study is to identify the gaps in the existing representations and to identify fictitious notions and misconceptions that have been made with regard to this charming and mysterious landmark of Pretoria. The history of the Erasmus Castle site has never been formally documented. A thorough search has revealed that published literature on the house and the site is fairly limited. The repetitive citing of the same uncorroborated information confirms a lack of and a desperate need for a more comprehensive and a more accountable history of the Erasmus Castle and the site it is built on. The existing articles merely sketch the broad historical background of the farm and its buildings, thereby confirming the need for a well documented and detailed, scientific study of the history of this site. The researcher’s aim is to provide in this need. Extensive research on the changing appearance of the house and the gardens was done by Dr. E. Labuschagne (cultural historian), H. Meiring (architect), A. Jansen (restorer and builder) when the house was restored during 1987 -1989. The results of this research are incorporated in the dissertation. The way the restorers approached the challenge of converting the restored interior into a functional office environment (for Armscor’s Corporate Communications Division), is also analysed. The restoration process is also significant in the sense that it directed the current researcher to collections of primary sources that were indispensable in the reconstruction of the cultural history of life in the house and on the surrounding farmland. The researcher also made use of NASA (National Archives of South Africa). Oral evidence was gathered and the researcher could fill in omissions in the history of one of Pretoria’s most famous landmarks. The findings are important for future tourists and academics alike. The Erasmus castle was declared a Historical Monument by the Tshwane Buildings- and Heritage Society (preferably done by SAHRA). The Erasmus Castle is an interesting example of Victorian architecture thus making the need for a well documented history of the Erasmus Castle terrain of the utmost importance for future generations. / Dissertation (MA (Cultural History))--University of Pretoria, 2003. / Historical and Heritage Studies / unrestricted

Secondary special education teachers of Hispanic students with mild to moderate learning disabilities who are English language learners : their sense of efficacy and staff development needs

Sapien-Melchor, Rebecca Ruth 01 January 2000 (has links)
Research indicates that a teacher's sense of efficacy or capacity to teach directly affects student-teacher interaction and student achievement. Recent demographic changes affecting California public schools require educators to rethink teacher training to meet linguistic, cultural, and academic needs of an increasingly diverse population, especially teachers who directly instruct Hispanic students with mild to moderate learning disabilities who are English language learners. This study examines and analyzes the sense of efficacy of secondary special education teachers of the study population and determines their staff development needs. Thirty-six Sweetwater Union High School District Special Day Class and Resource Specialist teachers participated in the study. They completed demograpihc, teacher efficacy, and staff development questionnaires, which investigated these needs in three areas: (a) pedagogy, (b) crosscultural awareness, and (c) language acquisition. Vll Eleven ofthe 36 teachers participated in a structured interview. Traditional quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis were used. For each questionnaire item, descriptive statistics, including means, standard deviations, and frequencies were calculated. The qualitative data analysis, QSR NUD.IST (Non-numerical Unstructured Indexing Data) program was used for final analysis of interview transcripts. Respondents of the Teacher Efficacy Questionnaire reported a high sense of efficacy with little variance across questionnaire items regarding personal and professional efficacy. Teachers reported a high sense of efficacy on pedagogy, crosscultural awareness, and language acquisition. Respondents also reported satisfactory preparation in awareness, knowledge, and application level training in pedagogy, crosscultural awareness, and language acquisition provided by the local district. Classroom technical assistance and collaboration received poor ratings. Correlation results between teacher efficacy and staff development revealed no significant relationship. Teacher interviews revealed that current staff development practices seem unconnected to daily classroom practice. Recommended for future investigation is a research-based staff development program which focuses on narrowing the achievement and equity gaps for these students.

Rodríguez Sánchez, Diego Antonio 05 November 2019 (has links)
