Wer sagen die Leute, wer ich bin? Eine qualitative Erhebung zur Gottesvorstellung bei Jugendlichen in Deutschland. Eine Studie aus der sicht empirischer Missionswissenschaft = Who do people say that I am? A qualitative research of the image of God among German youth. A study from the perspective of empirical MissiologyFaix, Tobias 30 June 2006 (has links)
Summary
The intention of this research project is to evolve a concept for empirical
missiology as a method of fundamental research and to apply it in practice.
Through the usage of an intradisciplinary approach, access to missiology via the
methodology of the social sciences is rendered possible. To establish a basis, an
insight into social as well as missiological research will be given, and an inherent,
empirical-theological praxis cycle will be developed. This praxis cycle is the
methodology of this research paper. Concerning content, this research paper
scrutinises the image of God held by juveniles from a missiological point of view. It
considers the missionary receptiveness of juveniles in the context of cultural
change in the postmodernist shift of paradigm.
In how far are juvenile concepts of God marked by the correspondent social
environment and does that have an impact on their everyday religious behaviour?
Consequently not only the current state of research will be evaluated but,
furthermore, the half-standardised qualitative interviews of 18 juveniles will be
enclosed and their answers analysed on an empirical- missiological basis.
Hence, this thesis has a twofold aim; one considers empirical-theological research
as a way of evaluating concepts of God among juveniles with regard to their
missionary receptiveness. The other implements the empirical-theological praxis
cycle aiming to develop a type which enables further empirical-theological
investigation in missilogy. / Missiology / D.Th.

Der empirisch-theologische Praxis-Zyklus als methodologischer Ansatz ANSATZ innerhalb der Missionwissenschaft(The Empirical-Theological Praxix Cycle as methodological starting point in Missiology).Faix, Tobias 30 November 2003 (has links)
The intention of the empirical missiology is to systematically examine the reality of mission practice with the aid of empirical methods. To reach this aim the dissertation will attempt to combine empirical social science with missiology in a way that they positively complement one another throughout the whole process of research. This intradisciplinary procedure is new to missiology and therefore an important contribution to research. To form a basis, social as well as missiological research will be dealt with and von der Vens empirical theology examined. For the hermeneutic methodological realization of the empirical missiology an empirical-theological praxis cycle will be developed consisting of seven individual stages of research. The missiological reflection of each stage is the minor cycle. This procedure guarantees firstly a strictly methodical way of working and secondly missiological relevance that takes the context of praxis seriously and serves the mission. / Missiology / M. Th.

Pathways to healing : an empirical-theology study of the healing praxis of 'the group' Assemblies of God in KwaZulu-Natal, South AfricaThomas, Andrew James 06 1900 (has links)
The study commenced by identifying a theological problem relating to the lack of understanding regarding grass-roots African Pentecostal healing praxis. The empirical-theological approach of Van der Ven was utilised, therefore, to study the healing praxis of an African Pentecostal body, called: The Group‘ Assemblies of God, in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Van der Ven‘s original framework was developed by drawing on the hermeneutic and methodological work of Cartledge.
A case study was undertaken on a Group‘ Assembly in rural KwaZulu-Natal. The use of social scientific techniques produced a wide range of results that point to the church‘s ministry of healing as a process, rooted in the Trinity, that can occur through varied channels. These pathways ended in a broad understanding of healing.
A dialogue between the qualitative results and the healing literature was used to develop a more precise theological question. Case study categories were conceptualised and then operationalised as a questionnaire. A survey was performed on all Assemblies affiliated to The Group‘ Assemblies of God in KwaZulu-Natal. A significant number of people participated in the survey which produced a wide range of data. It is found that worldview and charismatic experience form an important hermeneutic axis that influences attitudes towards the healing ministry. Conservative biblical belief, ethnicity, education and gender influence attitudes towards healing. A distinct divide exists between positive attitudes towards physical, spiritual, inner healing and deliverance and more negative attitudes towards social and environmental healing. The reflection on these results focuses on the perceived influence of American dispensational fundamentalism. The eschatology formed from these beliefs has a narrowing effect on holistic healing ministry. Moltmann‘s transformational eschatology is suggested, therefore, as a suitable alternative. The methodological evaluation finds that several problems exist with regard to research in a rural African location. The cycle concludes by offering a range of suggestions for further study. / Practical Theology / D. Th. (Practical Theology)
