Föräldrars upplevelse av hembesök från BVC : En studie baserad på inlägg från föräldraforum

Tevell, Moa, Siebert, Heidi January 2016 (has links)
Background: In Sweden, child healthcare is voluntary and home visit by a nurse when the baby is newborn is an offer. Since 2015, parents are offered a second home visit when the baby is eight months. To provide good support to the parents in their caring role it is important to know how the parents experience the home visits by the child health center (CHC). Objective: To investigate the parents' experience of home visits from CHC. Method: Data was collected by posting questions in two parent forums during 3 months and searching for posts in 11 parent forums from 2013 to 2016. Data was analyzed by inductive content analysis. Results: The parents had varying experiences of home visits; from comfort, for example was perceived as positive to avoid having to go out in bad weather, to a sense of being controlled as a parent. Many parents were unaware that the CHC offers a home visit at eight months, and some were unaware that home visits were offered at all. Several parents expressed an uncertainty about the purpose of the home visit. Conclusion: It is important that the district nurse has a good routine of how, where and when information about home visits is given to reach all parents. The information can have a significant impact on how parents will experience home visit from the CHC, and if they will accept home visits.

Self-assessment of oral health status, behaviours and oral health risk factors among adolescents from urban and peri-urban public schools in Maputo City

Mepatia, Amália Issufo January 2019 (has links)
Magister Scientiae Dentium - MSc(Dent) / A good oral health self-perception can contribute to improved knowledge of oral health self-care and practice as well as increase the proper use of dental care services. This study evaluated how adolescents from urban and peri-urban Maputo City assess their oral health status, behaviour and oral health risk factors. This is an analytic cross-sectional study, conducted in the urban and peri-urban schools of Maputo City involving adolescents in the age groups of 12 and 15-19 years old. The study was carried out in five schools, three Complete Primary schools and two Secondary schools from urban and peri-urban areas in Maputo City selected by convenience due to their geographic location. The size of the sample was 500 comprising 236 twelve year olds and 264 15-19 year olds. Data was collected using a self-completion questionnaire designed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and translated into Portuguese. The questionnaire included variables such as socio-demographic data (age, gender, location and parent or guardian level of education), self-assessment of oral health status and quality of life; self reported oral health behaviour and lifestyles, oral health risk factor knowledge (alcohol, tobacco and dietary), dental visits and daily impact of oral health. Chi-square for associations and a Spearman correlation tests were used to determine relationships between categorical data. All tests were assumed statistically significant at p≤0.05. The results showed that most of the adolescents classified their teeth (49.7%) and gum (38.2%) health as normal. There was no statistical difference between adolescents from urban and peri-urban schools (Spearman rs (399) = 0,114, p =0,02). The majority (n=322; 65.2%) of the adolescents clean their teeth twice a day. There was no difference between school level (primary and secondary school) and frequency of teeth cleaning. Most of the adolescents use a toothbrush (97.8%) and toothpaste (93.5%) to clean their teeth and only 11.9% also use dental floss but 52.1% didn´t know if their toothpaste was fluoridated or not. Smoking was reported by less than 1% of the adolescents. The main reason for dental service utilization, (reported by 67.5%) was pain or problems with teeth, gums or mouth. There was an association between oral health status and problems experienced in daily life because of their teeth and mouth. There was no significant difference for oral health assessment, risk factors and behaviours, between adolescents from urban and peri-urban schools. Although some satisfactory results were found, the need to strengthen oral health promotion in schools is high, especially considering the causes for dental service utilization were mostly pain and trouble with teeth in this group.

Possibility Thinking and its pedagogy in primary classrooms using learning resources associated with museum visits in Cyprus

Gregoriou, Maria January 2014 (has links)
The concept of Possibility Thinking (PT) has been investigated both conceptually and empirically for over a decade in early year settings and primary classrooms. The basic aim of this study was to investigate Cypriot primary teachers and how they nurture the PT of 9-10 year-old children by drawing on learning resources associated with museum visits. This PhD thesis had as a sample eight primary teachers with their students’ age 9-10 years and employed various data collection methods including semi-structured interviews, observations (field notes, video-recordings, still images), teachers’ reflections and the researcher’s reflective journals. This research builds on previous studies that have documented PT and the pedagogical strategies which foster it. The findings were compared with the existing literature and contribute to the field in a number of ways. Firstly, the findings offer an in-depth investigation of the PT features and argue that the features have a different range and they shape differently according to the characteristics of the observed group. Thus, the data revealed the existing PT features from the literature. Secondly, risk taking was not identified among the features. This study offers an explanation about the absence of risk-taking by proposing a new feature, giving as a result a solution to the problem of the existence of PT without the feature of risk-taking. Thirdly, the findings contribute to understanding how the teachers nurture students’ PT through alternative resources of learning like museum visits. This was achieved through the refinement of the existing pedagogies and the proposition of a new one, as well as the identification of three affordances that teachers perceive from the interactive programme in which the children participated. The study provides a starting point for further research on PT by drawing on learning resources associated with museum visits. This PhD thesis presents a model of pedagogy of PT linked with museum affordances identified from the data and ends with suggestions for further research.

AN EXPLORATION OF SOCIAL WORKER RISK IN THE FIELD WHEN WORKING WITH VULNERABLE ADULTS AND THEIR DESIRE FOR SAFETY TRAINING.

Lynch, Sienna 01 June 2017 (has links)
This study explored the risk that social workers face in the field while serving vulnerable adults to determine if there is need to implement mandated safety training based on social worker experiences and their desire for initial safety training. There needs to be a clear understanding of risks faced by social workers and their desire for safety training to implement safety standards and training for social workers across the board in social service agencies and academic institutions. There is minimal research currently on this topic and thus this study is paving the way for future research, as well as providing insight to risks faced by social workers who conduct field visits. This quantitative study presents different field situations that have put the social worker’s personal safety at risk and desire for safety training based on their personal experience. The results show a desire and need for mandatory safety training prior to entering the field. The results show a positive correlation between years in the field and risks faced in the field. Additionally, there was a positive correlation between age and desire for field safety training. There were differences found in risks experienced and desire for safety training by gender, education and ethnicity. This study is the start to understanding safety risks faced by social workers in the field and suggests developing safety training policy to ensure social worker safety in the field in both social service agencies and academic institutions.

Besökshundens påverkan på arbetssituationen inom den särskilda omsorgen

Björkman, Lina, Fors, Ulla-Karin January 2010 (has links)
This essay is about dogs that visit is used, whitin care of elderly. The dogs found caretakers once a week and one hour at a time. The focus has been placed on the dogs that go to the municipality's special accommodation and the research was done in a medium-sized municipality in Sweden. The focus of the narrowing of the work was done to the work situation for care staff to assess the impact of the visits the dogs presence. It was distributed questionnaires answered by care staff in which it concluded their visit to the dog's presence felt and how it impacted the situation. There has been much previous research done on how dogs affect the elderly in care. This has been done to see if the care staff perceive the same thing, and in turn experience any possible help of visiting dogs. What emerged in this study is that most are in favor of visits dog and they're older. The majority of respondents agreed that their work situation has become neither better nor worse then visit the dogs started to meet caretakers. This may be due to visit the dog is not enough time on site at each visit. Even the fact that care staff are not practicing with the caretakers memory to get them to remain in the state of mind that research shows that the older gets in. These can have an impact on how care staff perceive a possible means in visits of the dog.

Familjers upplevelser av hembesök inom barn- och ungdomspsykiatrin / Families experience of home visits in child and adolescent psychiatry

Lagerkranz, Irja January 2014 (has links)
Introduction: Within child and adolescent psychiatry (BUP) in Stockholm County Council there are four ”Between care” clinics, strengthening the Outpatient services and they work intensively with families in their homes and/or immediate environment.  Questions: The purpose of this study is to increase understanding and knowledge about how families who had contact with BUP ”Between care” experienced home visits and the overall treatment provision they received. The research questions are: How do families experience home visit as a method of providing treatment? How important is location for treatment? How did the relationship between the therapist and the family develop? What was the outcome of the treatment intervention?  Method: Six families participated in the study which carried out using semi-structured interviews. The answers are presented in a condensed and summarized format for the following areas: home, treatment and relationships.  Results: The results showed that parents saw mainly practical advantages of home visits, and did not feel uncomfortable receiving the therapist in their own home. Parents, by and large, had more positive perceptions of the home visits than those experienced by the children, but did not perceive the location to influence either the relationships nor the treatment to a great extent. The negative responses and reflections that emerged during the interviews focused mainly on the outcome of the entire intervention.  Discussion: The families who at the time of the interview were still in a difficult situation did not consider the intervention of BUP ”Between care” helpful to them. During the interview they mentioned shortcomings they experienced in treatment and in their contact with therapists, views that they had not previously expressed during the on-going contact. A development of BUP ”Between care” would be of great importance to better capture families reflections and experiences while undergoing treatment.
