Nalezení pozice stanic v Internetu pomocí umělých souřadnicových systémů / Internet nodes localization using synthetic coordinate systemsŠvéda, Jaroslav January 2009 (has links)
This thesis deals with predicting the latency between two network nodes, such as the two stations, two servers or server and station. The main reason for adoption of effective latency prediction techniques is the elimination of network load caused by unnecessary repeated transmissios or by direct measurement of the latency. Of the many proposed methods of latency estimation, this thesis is focused on methods using artificial coordinate systems with primary focus on the Vivaldi algorithm. Characteristics of the latency prediction methods and properties of various coordinate systems used in practice are evaluated. The issue of the number of dimensions of space defined only by the latency matrix between nodes is also mentioned. Furthermore, some other systems, based on logical clustering of nearby nodes, are mentioned. Description of simulation software VivaldiMonitor developed as part of the thesis is included. The primary purpose is analysis of the behavior of overlay networks implementing Vivaldi algorithm with less than a few hundred nodes. The Vivaldi algorithm is assessed by several simulations carried out using the aforementioned software.

Scann Loss Reduction on Phased Array Antenna / Scan Loss Reduction på Phased Array AntennZhang, Wanyu January 2022 (has links)
Phased array antennas with small size and light weight are proposed to make signal transmitting more efficiently and accurately. These antennas have such advantages that they can realize beam scanning over a large range, accurately track and identify targets within the observation range. In beam scanning, the scan loss which is the difference between the scanned gain and broadside gain has a great impact on the performance of phased array antennas. This thesis aims to study how to reduce the scan loss while the beam is scanned over a wide range. One of the methods to reduce the scan loss is to widen the beam-width of the embedded radiation pattern. With the wide beam-width, the gain reduction due to beam scanning would be small. We propose a method to replace a conventional half-wavelength unit-cell in an array with a sub-array composed of 5 miniaturized elements with special phase/amplitude distribution. The size of the sub-array is finely tuned in this thesis to achieve the goal of wide beam-width without any grating lobe. Then, in order to further expand the beam-width, the ideal power divider is utilized to apply specific weight to the sub-array. The simulation result shows that the maximum scan loss for the considered case is 3.67dB over ±80° scan range with an voltage amplitude distribution of [0.234, 0.64, 0.26, 0.64, 0.234] (1) and a phase of 88° between the 5 sub-array elements, which can be realized by the ideal power divider. If the allowed gain reduction is relaxed to 5dB, the scan coverage can be extended to ±89°.

Interdomain traffic engineering with MPLSPelsser, Cristel 10 November 2006 (has links)
During the last years, MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) has been
deployed by most large Service Providers (SP). The main driver
for MPLS deployment is the ability to provide new services
with stringent Service Level Agreements (SLAs) such as layer-2 and layer-3
Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) as well as Voice and Video over IP.
Most of these services are already deployed inside single SP networks.
However, customers now require world-wide VPN and VoIP services.
Therefore, SPs need to collaborate to offer these services across
multiple SP networks.
Inside a single SP network, each node usually knows the complete topology
of the network with the load and delay of all the links. Based on this
information, each router is able to compute constrained paths toward any
other router inside the SP network. Then, it can establish a connection and
reserve resources along the computed path with the Resource reSerVation
Protocol (RSVP-TE). However, when services with stringent requirements must
cross multiple SP networks the computation of the path
becomes a problem. Routers in different SP networks exchange routing
information by using the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). BGP provides
reachability information. It does not distribute complete topology, delay
and bandwidth information. One way to provide guaranteed services crossing
different SPs is to delegate the computation of the paths to a Path
Computation Element (PCE) that learns the topology of the different SPs.
However, this requires that SPs reveal information that they usually consider
confidential, their topology.
In this thesis, we perform active measurements to show the difficulty to
engineer the interdomain traffic with BGP. MPLS together with
RSVP-TE provide much more control on the traffic. We define extensions
to RSVP-TE for the protection of inter-AS MPLS paths. The aim is to be able
to provide the same service guarantees as inside a domain while keeping
the internal topology of SPs confidential, as required by SPs. We propose
and evaluate distributed techniques relying on PCEs for the computation of
interdomain constrained paths respecting the latter confidentiality
requirement.

Parametric Study And Design Of Vivaldi Antennas And ArraysErdogan, Yakup 01 March 2009 (has links) (PDF)
In this thesis, parametric study and design of Vivaldi antennas and arrays are studied. The parameters of single element antennas and arrays are investigated regarding their effects on the design. The return loss responses and radiation patterns are considered in the parametric study. The results of simulations realized using Ansoft HFSS, a high frequency electromagnetic field simulation program, are shown and discussed.
Two different Vivaldi antennas operating in 8.5-10.5 GHz frequency band with return loss responses better than 15 dB are designed based on the results of parametric study. Stripline to slotline transition is used in the feeding section of both antennas. In the same manner, two different 8-element uniform linear arrays operating in 8.5-10.5 GHz with half power beam widths smaller than 12& / #730 / and side lobe levels smaller than 13 dB are designed. Binomial and Dolph-Chebyshev feeding techniques are also investigated in order to improve half power beamwidths and side lobe levels of the designed arrays.
The designed single element Vivaldi antennas and a linear array of Vivaldi antennas are fabricated. The return loss response and radiation patterns of the fabricated antennas and the array are measured and compared with the simulation results.

An Orthogonally-Fed, Active Linear Phased Array of Tapered Slot AntennasMandeville, Andrew R 01 January 2008 (has links) (PDF)
An active, broadband antenna module amenable for use in low cost phased arrays is proposed. The module consists of a Vivaldi antenna integrated with a frequency conversion integrated circuit. A method of orthogonally mounting endfire antennas onto an array motherboard is developed using castellated vias. A castellated active isolated Vivaldi antenna package is designed, fabricated, and measured. An 8x1 phased array of castellated, active Vivaldi antenna packages is designed and assembled. Each element has approximately one octave of bandwidth centered in X-band, and each is mounted onto a coplanar waveguide motherboard. Radiation patterns of the array are measured at several frequencies and scan angles.
