O nível de emprego direto gerado pelas atividades agrícolas depende em grande medida da área cultivada, da composição das culturas e do desempenho da safra agrícola, sobretudo no curto prazo. O estágio tecnológico em que se encontram as culturas também é outra variável que afeta a ocupação agrícola. No caso específico de São Paulo, dado o esgotamento precoce de sua fronteira agrícola, a evolução da ocupação agrícola tem sido influenciada principalmente pelas mudanças da base técnica dos processos produtivos adotados pelos estabelecimentos agrícolas. Entre o início da década de 70 e meados da década atual, a agricultura paulista eliminou quase 700 mil postos de trabalho, o que representou uma redução de quase 40% da ocupação agrícola neste período. Observa-se também uma tendência de declínio da mão-de-obra residente nas propriedades, na medida em que quase 60% dos ocupados na agricultura paulista já residem fora das propriedades rurais em que exercem seu trabalho. Os assalariados temporários, que nos anos 80 tinham uma participação de 22% do total da população ocupada, passam a representar 19% em 2004. Concomitantemente, o novo ciclo de inovação tecnológica em curso na agricultura paulista a partir dos anos 90, apoiada, sobretudo na intensificação da mecanização em todas as fases do processo produtivo, tende a levar a uma preferência crescente por trabalhadores assalariados permanentes. Analisa-se também o comportamento da ocupação agrícola para as diferentes regiões do estado de São Paulo. Os dados sobre a ocupação agrícola para os anos 90 apontam que, apesar de todas as regiões apresentarem uma redução do emprego nesse período, os efeitos combinados de fatores como o grau de tecnificação das culturas, as mudanças dos indicadores desse nível de modernização e alterações nas áreas ou na composição das culturas, incidiram de forma diferenciada sobre as várias regiões do estado / Abstract: The main purpose of this study is to analyze the changes in production methods that have taken place in agriculture in São Paulo State and their impact both on jobs and the socio-economic conditions of the workers in this sector. The rate of direct employment generated by agricultural activities largely depends on the cultivated area, the crops grown and the abundance of the harvest, especially in the short term. The technological level of the agricultural activities is another factor that affects the numbers employed on the land. In the specific case of São Paulo, given the early exhaustion of the rural frontier, the evolving pattern of agricultural work has been influenced mainly by the changing technical basis of the production methods adopted by agricultural units. From the beginning of the 1970s until the middle of the present decade, agriculture in São Paulo lost nearly 700,000 jobs, representing a nearly 40% reduction in rural employment in the period. There is also a tendency for the resident work force to decline, since nearly 60% of those working on the land in São Paulo already live away from the rural properties where they do their work. The seasonal workers, who represented 22% of the total working population during the 1980s, fell to 19% in 2004. At the same time, the new cycle of technological innovation in progress in the agricultural sector in São Paulo since the 1990s, above all in the intensification of mechanization at all stages of the productive process, tends to favor a growing preference for permanent salaried workers. The profile of agricultural work in the different regions of São Paulo State is also analyzed. Substituição da tinta à base de solventes por tinta à base de água no processo de fabricação de volantes automotivos

O uso de tintas à base de solventes tem acarretado problemas ambientais, gerando a necessidade de pesquisas para o desenvolvimento de materiais com baixo teor de compostos orgânicos voláteis (VOC) para redução do impacto ao meio ambiente. Os efeitos do VOC ao meio ambiente motivaram este estudo, que tem como objetivos desenvolver uma nova tinta de base aquosa para a aplicação na fabricação de volantes automotivos. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo estudar o desempenho por meio de medição de camada de tinta, resistência aos reagentes químicos, combustibilidade e resistência ao desgaste da pintura obtida com tintas baseadas em 1) solventes orgânicos e 2) água, aplicadas em volantes automotivos constituídos de poliuretano (PU). Os resultados demonstram que a pintura à base de água possui uma espessura de camada maior e menor velocidade de combustão em relação à pintura à base de solventes orgânicos, porém apresenta um menor desempenho no ensaio de resistência à abrasão e aos reagentes químicos em relação à tinta à base de solventes orgânicos. / The use of solvent-based paints has caused environmental problems, creating the need for research to develop materials with low volatile organic compound (VOC) to reduce the environmental impact. The effect of volatile organic compound (VOC) to the environment motivated this study, which aims to develop a new water-based paint for application in the manufacture of automotive steering wheels. The present work aim to study the performance by measuring the layer thickness, resistance to chemical reagents, combustibility and wear resistance obtained with paints based on 1) organic solvents and 2) water, applied in automotive steering wheels made of polyurethane (PU). The results has showed that water-based paint has a layer thickness greater and lower burning rate than solvent-based paint, but it has a lower performance in the test for resistance to abrasion and resistance to chemical reagents in relation to organic solvent-based paint.

Determinação experimental da resistividade ôhmica de cinzas volantes para projeto de precipitadores eletrostáticos. / Experimental determination of ohmic resistivity of fly ash for design of electrostatic precipitators.

O presente trabalho reúne elementos para projeto de precipitadores eletrostáticos, com dados levantados de cinzas volantes provenientes da combustão de gases em caldeiras de carvão mineral. Os objetivos desta pesquisa são construir um dispositivo padronizado para medição da resistividade ôhmica de materiais, levantar dados de resistividade ôhmica das cinza volantes de carvão mineral utilizado no Brasil e, com estes dados, listar recomendações sobre cuidados no dimensionamento de precipitadores (cálculo da área de captação), quando este equipamento é posicionado após uma caldeira que queima o carvão mineral nacional. A metodologia utilizada foi baseada em norma americana ASME, em que o pó (material a ser testado) é colocado sobre eletrodos de descarga e de coleta, uma alta tensão elétrica é aplicada até atingir a tensão de ruptura elétrica e neste instante é medida a resistividade. A construção do experimento e procedimento de execução foram seguidos conforme esta norma. O material de teste foi coletado de precipitadores eletrostáticos existentes na região Sul do Brasil, onde o carvão mineral tem seu uso freqüente. Os resultados apresentaram baixos valores para resistividade da cinza volante nacional, se comparados com resultados de carvões de outros países. Sua variação em função da temperatura segue a tendência de cinza volantes de outros países, ou seja, aumento da resistividade ôhmica com o aumento da temperatura. Foram realizados também experimentos com material retirado de precipitadores eletrostáticos acoplados a caldeiras de biomassa, que forneceram valores de resistividade ainda menores do que os do carvão mineral nacional. O material de teste, composição química e processo de coleta foram totalmente caracterizados, disponibilizados e uma análise completa pôde ser realizada, fato inédito no Brasil. Esses resultados permitiram listar recomendações visando o projeto de precipitadores eletrostáticos acoplados a caldeiras que queimam carvão mineral nacional. / This report is a collection of elements to be used in the design of Electrostatic Precipitators, with experimental data of fly ashes from combustion gases of Mineral Coal Fired Boilers. The aims of this research are to construct a standard device to measure the ohmic resistivity of materials, to get data of ohmic resistivity of fly ashes from mineral coals used in Brazil and with this data, to list recommendations about the key points to size electrostatic precipitators (calculation of specific collection area), when this equipment is arranged after one boiler that burns Brazilian mineral coals. The method used was based on the ASME Standard, in which the fly ash (material to be tested) is put between the discharge and the collecting electrodes, a high electrical tension is applied until the electrical break down tension to be reached; at this moment, the resistivity is measured. The construction of this device and the experimental procedure were conducted according to this standard. The tested materials were collected from existing Electrostatic Precipitator of South of Brazil, where the mineral coal is commonly used. The results indicated low values of ohmic resistivity of the Brazilian fly ashes, if compared to results of coals from other countries. Its variation with the temperature has the same behavior of fly ashes from other countries, i.e., the ohmic resistivity increases when the temperature increases. It was also executed tests with particulate materials from electrostatic precipitator of biomass boiler whose ohmic resistivity is lower than the Brazilian mineral coal. The tested material, chemical composition, and collecting process were totally described, available and a full analysis can be executed; these data are inedita in Brazil. These results allow to list the recommendations to design Electrostatic Precipitators for Brazil Mineral Coal Fired Boilers.

Carbonatation atmosphérique des systèmes cimentaires à faible teneur en portlandite / Atmospheric carbonation of low portlandite content cementitious materials

Le phénomène de carbonatation des matériaux cimentaires est l'une des causes majeures de la corrosion des armatures de structures en béton armé. Ce phénomène est étudié depuis de nombreuses années sur les ciments Portland ordinaires CEM I, et les mécanismes sont relativement bien identifiés. Néanmoins, on remarque que si l'on substitue une partie du ciment par des ajouts tels que des cendres volantes, la réaction pouzzolanique ou les réactions d'hydratation qui s'en suivront amèneront à un contenu molaire plus faible en CHet aboutiront à la création d'une plus grande quantité d'hydrates de type C-S-H. Le pouvoir tampon qu'exerce la portlandite sur le pH de la solution interstitielle sera affaibli et le matériau cimentaire sera potentiellement plus sensible à la présence de CO2 au travers d'une carbonatation des C-S-H qui sera plus marquée. D'un point de vue physique, les évolutions microstructurales induites par un niveau élevé de carbonatation des C-S-H deviennent complexes et peuvent accélérer la diffusion du CO2. Cette thèse a ainsi pour but de caractériser le comportement vis-à-vis de la carbonatation des ciments contenant de forts dosages en cendres volantes et de développer une modélisation des systèmes cimentaires correspondants. Des pâtes de ciment et mortiers ont été formulés avec des rapports E/C variables et différents taux volumiques de substitution en cendre volante. Après une longue cure endogène, des essais de carbonatation accélérée ont été réalisés (10% de CO2, 25°C et 63% HR). À diverses échéances, des essais destructifs (analyse thermique, porosimétrie au mercure et projection de phénolphtaléine) et non-destructifs (gammadensimétrie) ont permis de quantifier le dioxyde de carbone fixé dans chaque type d'hydrate (CH et C-S-H), les changements de microstructure induits (porosité, distribution poreuse), ainsi que l'eau de structure libérée par carbonatation. On a ainsi pu relier les changements de microstructure et la libération d'eau avec les niveaux de carbonatation de la portlandite et des C-S-H.Dans un second temps, la plateforme de modélisation, Bil (sous licence GPL), développée à l'Ifsttar a été utilisée comme support pour le développement d'un modèle aux volumes finis. Il permet de décrire simultanément des réactions chimiques couplées à un transport de matière. Les lois de comportement chimiques - microstructurales (évolution du volume molaire des C-S-H en fonction de leur état de décalcification) et hydriques (eau relarguée par la carbonatation) mises en évidence par la campagne expérimentale ont pu être ainsi introduites dans le modèle. La cinétique de dissolution de la portlandite est paramétrée par une réduction d'accessibilité des amas de cristaux de CH qui, au cours du temps, se recouvrent d'une gangue de calcite de moins en moins perméable. La contribution des C-S-H est prise en compte. Une approche thermodynamique originale permet de décrire leur état de décalcification à l'équilibre au cours de la carbonatation. Au final, de nombreuses espèces chimiques, ainsi que leur spéciation, sont introduites dans le modèle, notamment les alcalins qui ont un effet marqué sur le pH / Reaction of gaseous atmospheric CO2 with calcium-bearing phases in concrete infrastructure components is known to cause a lowering of alkalinity, leading to depassivation and corrosion of rebars. Carbonation mechanism is quite well understood from a physico-chemical point of view, especially in the case of materials made of OPC. Nonetheless the impact of supplementary cementitious materials (SCM), such as fly-ash, on carbonation is still an active research field. The pozzolanic reaction between CH and fly ash implies a lower portlandite content and a higher C-S-H content. Whilst CH is buffering the pH, its lower content in these materials may lead to a lower resistance to carbonation and to a higher contribution of C-S-H in terms of microstructural changes. Thus, this PhD thesis aims at understanding the effect of cement substitution by high contents of fly ash and develop a numerical model describing the carbonation of these cementitious materials. Accelerated carbonation tests (10% CO2, 25°C and 63% RH) were performed on various cement pastes containing fly ash (0%, 30% and 60% of volumic substitution and water-to-cement ratio before substitution of 0.45 and 0.6). Carbonation profiles were assessed by destructive and non-destructive methods such as thermogravimetric analysis and mercury intrusion porosimetry (destructive), as well as gamma-ray attenuation (non-destructive). Carbonation penetration was studied at different ages of CO2 exposure. By correlating microstructure changes with the degree of carbonation of each hydration product related to the formation of calcium carbonate, we are able to propose analytical relationships linking the decrease in porosity and the amount of released water to the carbonation level of CH and C-S-H.The modeling platform Bil (GPL) developed at Ifsttar was used to develop a reactive transport modeling of atmospheric carbonation, using a finite volume method. We introduced in the model the constitutive equations we highlighted using the experimental data. Microstructure evolution was quantified, taking into account the effect of the progressive decalcification of C-S-H linked to their molar volume, as well as the quantity of water released by carbonation. Combined with a kinetic formulation of CH dissolution, C-S-H decalcification was described by an original thermodynamic approach. Análisis comparativo técnico y económico de la resistencia al ataque a los sulfatos del concreto f’c=280kg/cm2 adicionado con ceniza de bagazo de caña de azúcar con respecto a puzolanas comerciales

La ceniza de bagazo de caña de azúcar es un subproducto natural que, en estado calcinado, puede aplicarse en materiales cementantes por sus propiedades puzolánicas. Esta investigación el efecto producido por la ceniza de bagazo de caña de azúcar (CBCA), en las propiedades mecánicas y durabilidad del concreto, comparando a los efectos producidos con Diatomita y Ceniza Volante, al exponer a una solución de Na2SO4. La investigación se basó en reemplazar el cemento en 5%, 7% y 10%, para hallar el porcentaje de CBCA que reemplazase a estás puzolanas de forma eficiente y hacer una reducción en costos. Después de realizar los ensayos se obtuvo que la CBCA al 5% y 10%, iguala comportamiento de estás puzolanas en durabilidad y resistencia a la compresión con 30 MPa y 28MPa respectivamente, en durabilidad se encontró una reducción del 18% en expansión por sulfatos y se determinó una reducción de costo S/22.81.

Cendres volantes d'électrofiltres d'incinérateur d'ordures ménagères: traitement et incorporation dans des matériaux cimentaires / Municipal solid waste incineration electrofilter fly ash: treatment and incorporation in cementitious materials

Les Cendres Volantes d’Electrofiltres (CVE) d’incinération d’ordures ménagères sont considérées comme des déchets dangereux et mises en décharges après une phase de stabilisation et de solidification par un liant hydraulique. Leur utilisation dans des matériaux cimentaires permet l’élimination d’un déchet en diminuant la demande de matériaux de construction. Cependant, avant leur incorporation dans des matériaux cimentaires, les CVE doivent subir plusieurs traitements. Premièrement, un lavage à l’eau permet de diminuer fortement la concentration en chlorures. Dans un deuxième temps, une séparation granulométrique des CVE est appliquée afin de ne sélectionner que la fraction la moins contaminée en métaux lourds, notamment en plomb et en zinc, ces métaux lourds étant connus comme retardateurs de prise. Enfin, une troisième étape consiste à oxyder l’aluminium métallique présent dans les CVE à l’aide d’un lavage basique à l’hydroxyde de sodium. S’il n’est pas oxydé durant la phase de traitement, l’aluminium métallique se transforme en aluminates dans la matrice cimentaire tout en produisant de l’hydrogène, responsable de l’apparition de vides et de fissures endommageant ainsi le matériau. Une fois traitées, les CVE peuvent alors être utilisées en substitution partielle du ciment pour une étude de leur réactivité potentielle. Les résultats de cette étude ont montré que l’activité des CVE traitées à l’hydroxyde de sodium est principalement d’origine physique (granulométrique et surface développée). Les CVE ne présentent pas de nature pouzzolanique. Les essais de lixiviation ont montré une durabilité équivalente et une très bonne stabilisation du chrome, du plomb et du zinc, qui permet de respecter les normes environnementales européennes./Municipal Solid Waste Incineration (MSWI) Electrofilter Fly Ash (EFA) is considered as hazardous waste and landfilled after stabilisation and solidification with a hydraulic binder. Its use in cementitious materials allows the elimination of a waste and a decrease of construction materials use. However, before its incorporation in cementitious materials, EFA has to be treated. Firstly, a water washing allows an important decrease in chloride concentration. In a second time, size-based separation is used to select the less heavy metals contaminated fraction, especially in lead and zinc. Indeed, these heavy metals are knows as setting retarders. Finally, a third step involves oxidizing of metallic aluminium contained in EFA during a basic washing with sodium hydroxide. Indeed, if it is not oxidize during the treatment, metallic aluminium converts in aluminates in the cementitious material, and produces hydrogen, generating cracking and voids, and damaging the cementitious material. After the treatment step, a study of the potential reactivity of EFA used in partial replacement of cement is carried out. Results show the activity of EFA treated with sodium hydroxide is mainly physical (grading and developed surface). EFA presents not pozzolanic effect. L'objectif principal de cette thèse a été d'évaluer le potentiel de valorisation des cendres volantes de charbon issues de centrales thermiques Spreader Stoker (Cendres Volantes Spreader Stoker), dans la fabrication d'éco-ciments sur l'île de La Réunion. Nous avons dans un premier temps effectué une caractérisation physico-chimique des CVSS et vérifié leur réactivité. Deux voies de valorisation ont ensuite été retenues, l'une qui ne présente pas de valeur ajoutée mais qui permet de valoriser un volume important de CVSS par une stabilisation dans des matrices à base de ciment, l'autre qui offre une valeur ajoutée aux CVSS par une incorporation dans la fabrication de ciments composés. Le relargage en lixiviation a été étudié pour la première voie de valorisation retenue, puis, les effets des CVSS dans les matrices à base de ciment, notamment le rôle des imbrûlés contenus dans les cendres, ont été évalués aux états frais, durcissant et durci, suivi d'une petite exploitation numérique des données expérimentales. Enfin, une étude de durabilité sur des bétons à base de ciments de laboratoire a été faite par une approche comparative avec la pouzzolane naturelle, qui est actuellement utilisée pour la fabrication de ciments composés sur l'île de la Réunion. / The main objective of this project was to evaluate the potential of coal fly ash from Spreader Stoker thermal power plants (Spreader Stoker Coal Fly Ash) in the manufacture of eco-cements in Reunion Island. We first performed a physico-chemical characterization SSCFA and verified its reactivity. Two valorisation paths were chosen, one of which did not present any added value but which permit to value a large quantity of SSCFA by stabilization in cement-based matrices, the other which offers added value to SSCFA by incorporating it in the manufacture of composed cements. Leachate release was studied for the first path of valorisation, and then the effects of SSCFA in the cement matrices, especially the unburned particles contained in SSFCA, were evaluated in fresh, hardening and hardened states, followed by a small numerical exploitation of the experimental data. Finally, a sustainability study on concretes based on laboratory cements was made using a comparative approach with natural pozzolana, which is currently used for the manufacture of composite cements in Réunion Island.
