Silicon-based millimeter-wave front-end development for multi-gigabit wireless applications

Sarkar, Saikat 02 November 2007 (has links)
With rapid advances in semiconductor technologies and packaging schemes, wireless products have become more versatile, portable, inexpensive, and user friendly over last few decades. However, the ever-growing demand of consumers to share information efficiently at higher speeds requires higher data rates, increased functionality, lower cost, and more reliability. The 60-GHz-frequency band, with 7 GHz license-free bandwidth addresses, such demands, and promises a low-cost multi-Gbps wireless transmission with a power budget in the order of 100 mW. This dissertation presents the systematic development of key building blocks and integrated 60-GHz-receiver solutions. Two different approaches are investigated and implemented in this dissertation: (1) low-cost SiGe-based direct-conversion low-power receiver front-end utilizing gain-boosting techniques in the front-end low-noise amplifier, and (2) CMOS-based heterodyne receiver front-end suitable for high-performance single-chip 60 GHz transceiver solution. The ASK receiver chip, implemented using 0.18 ?m SiGe, presents a complete antenna-to-baseband multi-gigabit 60 GHz solution with the lowest reported power budget (25 pJ/bit) to date. The subharmonic direct conversion front-end, implemented using 0.18 ?m SiGe, presents excellent conversion properties with a 4 GHz DSB RF bandwidth. On the other hand, the CMOS heterodyne implementation of the 60 GHz front-end receiver, targeted towards a robust, single-chip, high-performance, low-power, and integrated 60 GHz transceiver solution, presents the most wideband receiver front-end reported to date. Finally, different multi-band and tunable millimeter-wave circuits are presented towards the future implementation of cognitive and multi-band millimeter-wave radio.

Kapoun, Vladislav January 2015 (has links)
This thesis is focused on the smart public lighting management possibilities. It describes smart public lighting management itself and the advantages of the new management possibilities compared to the current ones are illustrated as well. Furthermore, it deals with a comparison of the most used light resources and LED light resources. This thesis also outlines NS-3 simulation environment and states its advantages. Theoretical concept for energy-saving smart public lighting management system and its modifications for the needs of simulation is described in the paper. This theoretical concept is simulated and compared with the current smart public lighting management systems as well as with the systems designated by the third party.

Implementation and performance analysis of multiple concurrent WPAN protocols on a system-on-chip

Hag, Juni January 2022 (has links)
The development of new energy efficient Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) protocols is a big factor for the increased interest in Internet of Things (IoT). However, the many protocols with overlapping applications have led to competing standards and sensor networks using different protocols, even to perform the same tasks. If different sensors in IoT uses different protocols in the same area, a single gateway connecting to all of them must support all their protocols simultaneously. This thesis studies latency, average sending time and range for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), 802.15.4 and Zigbee in multiprotocol mode on the nRF52840 System on Chip (SoC). In addition, an 802.15.4-based protocol synchronizing with the BLE frames using Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) techniques was designed and implemented. This protocol could be used in sensor networks using both the BLE and 802.15.4 protocols to assure the 802.15.4-based devices will not try to transmit during the periods the gateway is busy with other communications. /

Van Den Bossche, Adrien 06 July 2007 (has links) (PDF)

Řízení bezdrátové komunikace pomocí ZigBee / Control of wireless ZigBee network

Fuchs, Michal January 2008 (has links)
The Master’s Thesis deals with a ZigBee technology and its devices working each other in wireless personal area network. The ZigBee and its advantages are compared with other wireless protocols working in ISM bands. A first part deals with a topology of IEEE 802.4.15 WPAN and the ZigBee features. Types and format of the ZigBee data-frame are mentioned. A Second part of this thesis describes a design and testing of the ZigBee devices. Results of this thesis are demonstrated on ZMU (ZigBee Modules Utility) program that has been developed for the testing of this technology.

Zabezpečení bezdrátových senzorových sítí / Wireless Sensor Networks Security

Nagy, Jan January 2007 (has links)
This thesis deals with the security of wireless sensor networks, mainly of the industrial standard ZigBee. The aim of the work is to familiarize with the 802.15.4 standard and the ZigBee technology, especially with present methods of security in this field. I have also analysed the requirements for the security of this technology. Further aim of this work is the introduction of the ZigBee kit and description of the Microchip's ZigBee stack. Analysis of the stack is connected with practical test of security functions in the ZigBee laboratory.

Koexistence mobilních komunikačních systémů WLAN a Bluetooth / WLAN and Bluetooth Systems Coexistence

Mikulka, Jan January 2009 (has links)
The dissertation thesis deals with a WLAN and Bluetooth systems coexistence. A Bluetooth standard works in an unlicensed frequency band 2,402 – 2,480 GHz. This frequency band is also used by an IEEE 802.11b/g standard (Wi-Fi) which is the most extended representative of WLAN networks. Because Bluetooth and Wi-Fi systems operate in the same frequency band, a mutual signal degradation may appear, when devices are collocated in the same area. In the first part of the dissertation thesis there is a brief summary of 2,402 - 2,480 GHz frequency band regulations and its usage. There are described physical layers of Bluetooth and IEEE 802.11b/g standards and techniques used for a collision avoidance. The main part of the dissertation thesis deals with a development of a new Matlab Simulink model for investigations of the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi standards coexistence. Physical layer models and results of the coexistence simulations are verified by a measurement in real conditions with a help of a modern vector signal analyzer. The results are presented in a graphical form and a brief summary is attached at the end of each chapter. Corresponding tables of simulated and measured values are available in the enclosed CD.
