Statistics Visualization in News Media and Education

Per, Lind January 2011 (has links)
This thesis work was done at NComVA AB (Norrköping Communicative Visual Analytics) a spin-off company from the Norrköping Visualization Centre at Linköping University. It aims at developing a client-side web application for creating dynamic reports that uses Vislets for storytelling. A WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) page editor that could use Vislets generated by the Statistics Publisher to create dynamic reports is implemented. The focus of the application is allowing the generation of dynamic reports in HTML without requiring any knowledge of HTML. The implemented editor is a client-side web application written in JavaScript using the jQuery library.

Supporting Direct Markup and Evaluation of Students' Projects On-line

Vastani, Hussein Kamaluddin 23 August 2004 (has links)
Automated grading systems have been researched at various universities for several years. Numerous systems have been developed that automate the process of grading by compiling, executing and testing the students submitted source code. However, such systems are mostly written as UNIX scripts and are restricted to performing one kind of activity. The instructors or teaching assistants have to resort to other methods in order to provide their feedback to the students. The core of this thesis is to research a TA feedback mechanism which will streamline the grading process for the professors and teaching assistants. A web-based grading tool has been developed that allows course staff to enter comments for students' programs directly through a web browser. The interface provides for full direct-manipulation editing of comments, which are then immediately viewable by students when they look up assignment results. Such an interface also has potential to support peer grading of assignments. Teaching assistants of introductory programming level courses were interviewed to learn about the different grading methods they use and were asked their opinion of our new grading interface. TAs were also asked to grade assignments using the traditional paper method as well as the computer using our new grading tool for comparison. Finally, an anonymous survey was sent out to various computer science faculties in different universities to gather information about the expectations they have with respect to TA grading activities for programming assignments and the learning outcomes that these professors desire for their students. / Master of Science

Why go headless – a comperative study between traditional CMS and the emerging headless trend

Öfverstedt, Linn January 2018 (has links)
There has been an exponential increase in the number of websites, digital channels and consequently digital content in the last years. Not only are the number of websites increasing but they are also becoming more complex, therefore it is no longer feasible to handle content and code with the same tools. Content Management Systems (CMS) are the solution to this problem and offers a way of managing content. The market today offers a broad variety of solutions that each have their own advantages, one of the more common being WYSWYG-functionality which often means that the functionality and the presentation of the content are tightly coupled. "Headless" CMS are a new way of doing things and offers the user a way of managing content without presenting them with a way of displaying the content. The different types of CMS present advantages and disadvantages from a user centred point of view as well as from a technical one. The thesis aims to explore these perspectives and form a hypothesis based on the studied cases. The study presents a set of aspects that based on the context in which the CMS is used and implemented can be perceived as either advantages or disadvantages. "Headless" CMS however shows a tendency to be the preferable choice where the editors have a technical background and the developing part values an agnostic approach when implementing a CMS, whereas a traditional CMS with WYSIWYG functionality tends to be more favourable where stability and editorial freedom are valued.

Designen bakom ett CMS utifrån ett användarcentrerat perspektiv

Olofsson, Marcus January 2018 (has links)

The UX-Frontend Development Boundary : Bridging the Gap with WYSIWYG Tools

Enryd, Isabella January 2019 (has links)
There is currently a clear boundary between web UX design and frontend development and thispaper explores the possibility of bridging said gap with the help of WYSIWYG (What You See IsWhat You Get) tools. In such a situation, WYSIWYG tools would generate markup code fromprototypes created by UX designers that could be directly handed over to frontend developers –saving time and decreasing misunderstandings between the two roles. However, despite thesetools dating back more than two decades, the tools are not actually commonly used for thispurpose. The aim of this paper is therefore to find out why, as well as explore what is necessaryfor these tools to bridge the web UX design-frontend gap. In order to do so, two studies wereconducted – first an evaluation study in which two WYSIWYG tools were methodically testedusing a software quality framework, whereas the second study consisted of two interviews withUX designers and web developers. It was ultimately discovered that the tools – apart fromconstraining its users within the tools’ own technical limitations – produced markup code thatwas neither human-readable, semantically correct nor easy to maintain. Thus, it was concludedthat a reformation was necessary for the web UX design and frontend development gap to bebridged with the help of these tools. The paper also theorises on the possibilities of using artificialintelligence to solve some of the tools’ most critical issues.

Editor anotací pro WYSIWYG textové editory napsané v jazyce JavaScript / Annotations editor for WYSIWYG JavaScript-Based Text Editors

Kleban, Martin January 2011 (has links)
This master's thesis deals with analysis of plugins development possibilities for WYSIWYG JavaScript-based text editors (TinyMCE, CKEditor, NicEdit, jWYSIWYG) and it describes design of annotations editor as a plugin for chosen editors. Structured annotations editor was implemented for TinyMCE and it includes own user interface implementation without usage of any complex universal libraries. Gained pieces of knowledge from WYSIWYG editors analysis and annotations editor implementation are to be found in the enclosure.

Interaktivní tvorba formulářů v JSP / Interactive Form Design in JSP

Kaluža, Vlastimil Unknown Date (has links)
This project is interested in creating application for generating dynamic web pages which are connected to database. Main intention of this project is concentrated to set out basic parts and create class diagram of this application. Final application will be used for simplification of web pages design for non-IT users. Final application represents concept for any extension and modification in the future.
