On Specifying and Enforcing Access Control of Web Services Based Workflows

Chen, Yun-Chih 11 August 2009 (has links)
Web services have become the de facto standards as components for quickly building a business process that satisfies the business goal of an organization. Nowadays, Web services have found its way into describing the functions of automatic tasks as well as manual tasks. An important part in the specification of a business process, especially for manual tasks, is the access control. This thesis considers both types of tasks involved in a Web services-based process with its corresponding access control problem and proposes a selection approach for choosing the performer for each task so as to satisfy all access control constraints. Based on the role-based access control model, we focus on two types of access control: separation of duties (SoD) and binding of duties (BoD). Both role-level and participant-level of SoDs and of BoDs that need to be dynamically enforced and these constraints are considered in this thesis. The proposed performer selection approach is evaluated by a workflow scenario and is shown to have the highest chance of satisfying all predefined access control constraints when compared to other methods.

Nätverksfördröjningar vid tillämpning av SOAP

Björk, Stefan January 2002 (has links)

Automated Web Service Composition With Event Calculus

Aydin, Onur 01 September 2005 (has links) (PDF)
As the Web Services proliferate and complicate it is becoming an overwhelming job to manually prepare the Web Service Compositions which describe the communication and integration between Web Services. This thesis analyzes the usage of Event Calculus, which is one of the logical action-effect definition languages, for the automated preparation and execution of Web Service Compositions. In this context, planning capabilities of Event Calculus are utilized. Translations from Planning Domain Description Language and DARPA Agent Markup Language to Event Calculus are provided to show that Web Services can be composed with the help of Event Calculus. Also comparisons between Event Calculus and other planning languages used for the same purposes are presented.

Paulo Roberto de Araújo França Nunes 03 June 2011 (has links)
Software technology has become essential since it is available in most places. Powered by Internet, nowadays, information quickly flows throw systems. Web Services provide a standard way to meet these objectives, as they use common communication pattern like XML and HTTP. The use of Web Services brings many benefits. On the other hand, it also brings some issues about reliability, availability and other non functional problems. Transactional patterns are an alternative to outline such problems. This study aims to find an effective way to certificate the correct use of those patterns by applying perturbation and mutation testing techniques. As work result, it is expected to determine which of techniques are applicable.

Performance of SOAP in Web Service Environment compared to CORBA

Paulsson, Ulf, Elfwing, Robert January 2002 (has links)
Web Services is one of the latest golden concepts that promise flexibility and unlimited potential for interconnection between systems of the same or different type. The communication is based on SOAP ? Simple Object Access Protocol, which is founded on XML (eXtended Markup Language). We have made experiments with SOAP in a Web Service Environment to find out the performance in response time using SOAP compared to CORBA. Unsurprisingly CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) is significantly faster but with the improvements that we implemented and an intelligent choice of XML parser the response times for SOAP was drastically lowered.

Nilsson, Hmapus January 2005 (has links)

Web Service Reliability for Deactivation and Decommissioning Knowledge Management Information Tool (D&D KM-IT) Vendor Management with Mobile Applications

Thota, Gowthami 29 October 2010 (has links)
This thesis presents the Knowledge Management Information Tool (KM-IT) Vendor Management Web Service and its reliability features. KM-IT is a web-based knowledge management information tool for the deactivation and decommissioning (D&D) user community. The Vendor Management (VM) module provides a directory service for searching D&D vendors. Clients have an increasing need to integrate and display the vendor information in their own applications. As such, this study proposes Web Services technology to provide VM access to clients. Moreover, when clients access information, particularly via mobile applications, they can encounter different failures that may occur on the network or the server. Such problems require fault tolerance in the VM Service. This study examines various reliability standards and selects the WS-ReliableMessaging standard as the best-suited approach to implement the reliability features for the VM Service. Implementation evaluation confirms that the KM-IT VM Service can effectively tolerate different types of failures.
