Future Office Design of Beijing, China: Envisioning Cultural Sustainability Through Architecture

Li, Tong 31 July 2013 (has links)
Office is a blooming building type in rapidly developing China. Most of the current Chinese office layouts and work patterns are following the mode from western countries and cities are now becoming the same as any big city in the world. Beijing is the capital city of China keeping unique Chinese culture for thousands of years. It is time for thinking more about preserving regional characters rather than pursuing for the international style. Design can get inspirations from traditional buildings – the right scale, the courtyard space combination, the typical materials application and so on. Thus, for the future office design of Beijing, preserving its own characters and creating an environment fitting for its own culture and people is the keystone. Based on those research and analysis about Chinese office development history, culture background, current office layouts and so on, I provide a prototype – a novel office layout that can respond to emerging work pattern requirements and Chinese culture-work relationship. Then apply the prototype into a specific site to complete a test based on the real scenario. / text

Mello, Neide Moraes de 02 March 2007 (has links)
This thesis compares the action and public life os two intellectuals that played a significative roll among discussions about modernization of Brazil and projects for the country that involved them during 20\'s and 30\'s years. It defends also that inner coherence of Lobato\'s proposed model fructified in public sphare, having State of Vargas assumed several of his causes like steel industry and oil, and among individuals, in so far as the \"developmentist pedagogy\" that elaborated, if it did\'n reach expressive material results, political education inlaid in it engendered a generation of the boldest and most combative militants in history of the country, by it indirectly encouraged to armed fight.

The Dom Tomás Balduíno Settlement's Case, a study about MST's work management and work relationship

Konuma, Claudia Mayu 17 October 2005 (has links)
The objective of this case study is to describe how MST´s “management method" generates humanitarian conditions of work, of production, of exchange and social relations. This "method" is result from the rationalization developed by its members about the countryside’s production problematic. The study uses as unit of survey and analysis the work management and the decision-making process made in the Dom Tomás Balduíno Settlement and it has, as sources of evidences, its productive and collective enterprises and communitarian benefits’ enterprises. This study evidenced that the MST developed a unique "method", that differs from traditional studies developed by the Administration’s knowledge’s field, basically because it presumes the possibility of transforming one predominantly capitalist society into another one, where humanitarian values prevail. This "method" involves the decentralized functional organization for all the Movement, supported by educational reinforcement and practical technique qualification over humanitarian values, uniting the organization of collective production with the participants’ political actions. This study verified that the humanitarian and solidary conditions of life, conquered by the workers in Dom Tomás, are the result of interaction between settled and movement activists, these responsible for introducing in the group the application of the "management method". Thus, children receive education and adults start to develop critical views, starting with theoretical and practical reflections, also over co-operative principles. As workers, they assay their first steps into self management of enterprises. The families start to consolidate the integration of their communities based on a similar vision of future. They construct collectively learning and leisure community facilities, carry through terrain embellishment, develop cultural activities and, most important, they get out of a situation of exclusion to social inclusion, even, on political dimension.

The purpose of this dissertation is to elucidate and understand the social structure and legal developments of domestic work in Brazil.. This research has relevance in the current moment in which the Labor Court begins to judge the labor actions involving domestic work in light of Law no. 150 of 2015 that extended labor rights foreseen in the Consolidation of Labor Laws for domestic employees. Until then the category in vogue did not have basic rights as control of working hours and collection of the Guarantee Fund of Time of Service. The attempt to understand the social actors perception about this substantial new labor legislations was based on the observation of the Pelotas Labor Court hearings and interviews with social actors involved in domestic work, as an employee and employer, lawyers and labor judges. The trajectory of the struggle for legal and social recognition of the category of domestic workers, made up mostly of women, will serve as a basis for understanding the changes brought about by the new legislation and how the labor judiciary in Pelotas is facing these changes.

Trust Issues? : An explorative study about millennials understanding of trust at work

Amoako-Atta, Christopher, Le Persson, Timmy January 2020 (has links)
Through demographic change, millennials now make up the most substantial part of the workforce. This is relevant as they are also a generation faced with prejudice. This thesis aims to explore how millennial followers are looking at trust in work relationships and how they perceive to establish trust in work relationships to increase understanding. The focus of this study is on millennial followers, as leadership literature is plentiful, and most millennials are and will always be followers.  We examine the millennials’ understanding of trust and explore what issues they bring up when reflecting on trust at work. This thesis argues that millennials think of trust as relying on others when thinking of healthy relationships. They prefer knowledge-based relationships over calculus- and identity-based relationships. To build trust, millennials perceive that they use both task- and relationship-based trust-building together with interactions as based to earn and evolve trust. In relationships where there are trust issues, they change their understanding of trust and stick to task-based or calculus-based relationships. This study follows an interpretivist approach with an abductive structure. For data collection, indepth interviews with 7 millennials from Sweden and Switzerland were conducted. To analyze a thematic approach to coding was employed. The emerging patterns are introduced in a thematic narrative to increase comprehensibility. The study provides insights into the millennial followers’ understanding of trust.

With the evolution of organizations and globalization, leadership ceases to be an instrument of collection and begins to gain a more inspiring character, to add value and shape the collective spirit of work. Organizations are a diverse environment, where different generations meet and, at the same time, share and disseminate experiences. These generational differences demand more contextual, moldable, and flexible leadership relations, thus leading to changes in power relations at work. Power takes on special relevance in the study, going beyond the hierarchical position, to be understood as a result of the internal and external interactions of the organization and to be understood as a system of influences. Organizations. The present study had as objective to analyze how Generations Y and Z perceive the relations of leadership and power within the banking organizations. This is a qualitative research, where semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 professionals who work as bankers in different institutions in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre. All interviews were recorded in audio, transcribed and categorized, and organized and analyzed using NVivo10® software. For the discussion and interpretation of the research data, the content analysis was used. The results are arranged in six units of analysis: 1) organizational actions to improve labor relations; 2) generational aspects that interfere in the work environment; 3) behaviors of the leader that influence and help the development of the leader; 4) perceptions about the power relationship; 5) expectations regarding the leader in the organization; 6) and perceived difficulties in labor relations. The main results indicate that there is no strategic process by companies to take advantage of this interaction between generational differences. Banking organizations must learn from these changes by identifying and working on the synergy of these differences. There is a need to improve the quality of your leaders. Whereas the new generations seek to find managers who possess the skills of coaching. Where power must be exercised through informal relations, with incentives for development and transformation. The structures and segments need new conception, where it favors the integration and the development of working ties. Thus, the contributions highlighted in this research covered the academy, business environment and managers.
