Test and Validation of Web Services

Nous proposons dans cette thèse les approches de test pour la composition de services web. Nous nous intéressons aux test unitaire et d’intégration d’une orchestration de services web. L’aspect de vérification d’exécution en-ligne est aussi consideré. Nous définissons une plateforme de test unitaire pour l’orchestration de services web qui compose une architecture de test, une relation de conformité et deux approches de test basés sur le modèle de machine à l’états finis étendues temporisés: l’approche offline où les activités de test comme la génération de cas de test temporisé, l’exécution de test et l’assignement de verdict sont appliquées en séquentielle tandis que ces activités sont appliquées en parallèle dans l’approche online. Pour le test d’intégration d’une orchestration, nous combinons deux approches: active et passive.Au debut, l’approche active est utilisée pour activer une nouvelle session d’orchestration par l’envoi d’un message de requête SOAP. Après, tous les messages d’entré et de sortie de l’orchestration sont collectés et analysés par l’approche passive.Pour l’aspect de vérification d’exécution en-ligne, nous nous intéressons à la vérification d’une trace qui respecte un ensemble des constraintes, noté règles, ou pas. Nous avons proposé extendre le langage Nomad en définissant des constraintes sur chaque action atomique et un ensemble de corrélation de données entre les actions pour définir des règles pour le service web. Ce langage nous permet de définir des règles avec le temps futur et passé, et d’utiliser des opérations NOT, AND, OR pour combiner quelque conditions dans le contexte de la règle. Ensuite, nous proposons un algorithme pour vérifier l’exactitude d’une séquence des messages en parallèle avec le moteur de collecte de trace. / In this thesis, we propose the testing approaches for web service composition. We focus on unit, integrated testing of an orchestration of web services and also the runtime verification aspect. We defined an unit testing framework for an orchestration that is composed of a test architecture, a conformance relation and two proposed testing approaches based on Timed Extended Finite State Machine (TEFSM) model: offline which test activities as timed test case generation, test execution and verdict assignment are applied in sequential, and online which test activities are applied in parallel. For integrated testing of an orchestration, we combines of two approaches: active and passive. Firstly, active approach is used to start a new session of the orchestration by sending a SOAP request. Then all communicating messages among services are collected and analyzed by a passive approach. On the runtime verification aspect, we are interested in the correctness of an execution trace with a set of defined constraints, called rules. We have proposed to extend the Nomad language, by defining the constraints on each atomic action (fixed conditions) and a set of data correlations between the actions to define the rules for web services. This language allows us to define a rule with future and past time, and to use the operations: NOT, AND, OR to combines some conditions into a context of the rule. Afterwards, we proposed an algorithm to check correctness of a message sequence in parallel with the trace collection engine. Specifically, this algorithm verifies message by message without storing them.

Esta tese apresenta uma análise numérica do controle de vibrações estruturais através de cerâmicas piezelétricas em extensão conectadas a circuitos ativo-passivos compostos por resistência, indutância e fonte de tensão. Para tal, um modelo de elementos finitos de vigas sanduíche com três camadas elásticas e/ou piezelétricas foi desenvolvido. Realizou-se também uma modelagem dos componentes do circuito elétrico e seu acoplamento à estrutura gerando assim uma equação de movimento acoplada para a estrutura com elementos piezelétricos conectados aos circuitos elétricos. Uma análise harmônica das equações obtidas foi realizada para se obter uma avaliação preliminar dos efeitos causados pelos componentes elétricos do circuito na estrutura. Observou-se que os elementos passivos do circuito, resistência e indutância, tem não somente um efeito de absorvedor dinâmico de vibrações mas, também, promovem uma amplificação da autoridade de controle no caso de se atuar através da fonte de tensão. Usando a metodologia tradicional de projeto de absorvedores dinâmicos de vibrações, derivou-se expressões para os valores de resistência e indutância de modo a maximizar o desempenho passivo do sistema. Uma análise do efeito de incertezas das constantes piezelétricas e dielétricas da cerâmica piezelétrica considerada e dos componentes de resistência e indutância do circuito elétrico no desempenho do controle passivo e ativo-passivo de estrutura tipo viga cantilever foi realizada. O objetivo desta análise foi quantificar robustez e sensibilidade do controle proposto. Em sequida, um estudo de otimização dos valores de resistência e indutância do circuito elétrico em função da tensão elétrica de controle máxima a ser aplicada em uma placa com diversos atuadores piezelétricos foi realizado. Finalmente e também para a estrutura tipo placa, uma análise de incertezas da rigidez da cola na interface entre estrutura e atuadores piezelétricos e seus efeitos no desempenho do controle passivo e ativo-passivo foi realizada. / This work presents a numerical analysis of the structural vibration control using piezoelectric materials in extension mode connected to active-passive electric circuits composed of resistance, inductance and voltage source. For that, a finite element model for sandwich beams with three elastic or piezoelectric layers was developed. A modeling of the electric circuit dynamics and its coupling to the structure with piezoelectric elements was also done. A harmonic analysis of the resulting equations was performed to yield a preliminary evaluation of the effects caused by the electric circuit components on the structure. It was observed that the passive circuit components not only lead to a dynamic vibration absorber effect but also to an amplification of the control authority in case of actuation using the voltage source. Using the standard methodology for the design of dynamic vibration absorbers, expressions were derived for the resistance and inductance values that optimize the passive vibration control performance of the system. An analysis of the effect of uncertainties of piezoelectric and dielectric constants of piezoelectric ceramic and resistance and inductance components of the shunt circuit on the passive and active-passive control performance for a cantilever beam structure was performed. The objective of this analysis was to quantify robustness and sensitivity of the proposed control. Then, an optimization study of the values of resistance and inductance of the shunt circuit as a function of the maximum control voltage to be applied on a plate with several piezoelectric actuators was performed. Finally and also for the plate structure, an analysis of uncertainties in the stiffness of the adhesive interface between structure and piezoelectric actuators and their effects on the performance of passive control and active-passive was performed.

Isolated Single-Stage Interleave Resonant PFC Rectifier with Active and Novel Passive Output Ripple Cancellation Circuit

With the increasing demand for fast, cheaper, and efficient power converters come the need for a single-stage power factor correction (PFC) converter. Various single-stage PFC converter proposed in the literature has the drawback of high DC bus voltage at the input side and together with the shift to wide bandgap switches like GaN drives the converter cost higher. However, an interleaved topology with high-frequency isolation was proposed in this research work due to the drastic reduction in the DC bus voltage and extremely low input current ripple thereby making the need for an EMI filter circuit optional.   Meanwhile, this research work focuses on adapting the proposed topology for a high voltage low current application (EV charger - 400V, 7KW) and low voltage high current application (telecom power supply - 58V,  58A) owing to cost benefits. However, all single-stage PFC are faced with the drawback of second-order (100Hz) output harmonic ripple. Therefore, the design and simulation presented a huge peak to peak ripple of about 50V/3A and 26V/26A for the EV charger and telecom power supply case, respectively. This created the need for the design of a ripple cancellation circuit as the research required a peak to peak ripple of 8V and 200mV for the EV - charger and telecom power supply, respectively.   A novel output passive ripple cancellation technique was developed for the EV charger case due to the ease it offers in terms of control, circuit complexity and extremely low THDi when compared with the active cancellation approach. The ripple circuit reduced the 50V ripple to 431mV with the use of a total of 2.2mF capacitance at the output stage.   Despite designing the passive technique, an active ripple cancellation circuit was designed using a buck converter circuit for the telecom power supply. The active approach was chosen because the passive has a slow response and incurs more loss at a high current level. Adding the active ripple cancellation circuit led to a quasi-single stage LLC PFC converter topology. A novel duty-ratio feedforward control was added to synchronize the PFC control of the input side with the buck topology ripple cancellation circuit. The addition of the ripple circuit with the feedforward control offered a peak to peak ripple of 6.7mV and a reduced resonant inductor current by half.   After analysis, an extremely low THDi of 0.47%, PF of 99.99% and a peak efficiency of 97.1% was obtained for the EV charger case. The telecom power supply offered a THDi of 2.3%, PF of 99.96% with a peak efficiency of 95%.

Design of Hospital Operating Room Ventilation using Computational Fluid Dynamics / Utforma operationssalars ventilationssystem med hjälp av beräkningsströmningsmekanik

The history of surgery is nearly as old as the human race. Control of wound infection has always been an essential part of any surgical procedure, and is still an important challenge in hospital operating rooms today. For patients undergoing surgery there is always a risk that they will develop some kind of postoperative complication. It is widely accepted that airborne bacteria reaching a surgical site are mainly staphylococci released from the skin flora of the surgical staff in the operating room and that even a small fraction of those particles can initiate a severe infection at the surgical site.  Wound infections not only impose a tremendous burden on healthcare resources but also pose a major threat to the patient. Hospital-acquired infection ranks amongst the leading causes of death within the surgical patient population. A broad knowledge and understanding of sources and transport mechanisms of infectious particles may provide valuable possibilities to control and minimize postoperative infections. This thesis contributes to finding solutions, through analysis of such mechanisms for a range of ventilation designs together with investigation of other factors that can influence spread of infection in hospitals, particularly in operating rooms. The aim of this work is to apply the techniques of computational fluid dynamics in order to provide better understanding of air distribution strategies that may contribute to infection control in operating room and ward environments of hospitals, so that levels of bacteria-carrying particles in the air can be reduced while thermal comfort and air quality are improved.  A range of airflow ventilation principles including fully mixed, laminar and hybrid strategies were studied. Airflow, particle and tracer gas simulations were performed to examine contaminant removal and air change effectiveness. A number of further influential parameters on the performance of airflow ventilation systems in operating rooms were examined and relevant measures for improvement were identified. It was found that airflow patterns within operating room environments ranged from laminar to transitional to turbulent flows. Regardless of ventilation system used, a combination of all airflow regimes under transient conditions could exist within the operating room area. This showed that applying a general model to map airflow field and contaminant distribution may result in substantial error and should be avoided. It was also shown that the amount of bacteria generated in an operating room could be minimized by reducing the number of personnel present. Infection-prone surgeries should be performed with as few personnel as possible. The initial source strength (amount of colony forming units that a person emits per unit time) of staff members can also be substantially reduced, by using clothing systems with high protective capacity. Results indicated that horizontal laminar airflow could be a good alternative to the frequently used vertical system. The horizontal airflow system is less sensitive to thermal plumes, easy to install and maintain, relatively cost-efficient and does not require modification of existing lighting systems. Above all, horizontal laminar airflow ventilation does not hinder surgeons who need to bend over the surgical site to get a good view of the operative field. The addition of a mobile ultra-clean exponential laminar airflow screen was also investigated as a complement to the main ventilation system in the operating room. It was concluded that this system could reduce the count of airborne particles carrying microorganisms if proper work practices were maintained by the surgical staff. A close collaboration and mutual understanding between ventilation experts and surgical staff would be a key factor in reducing infection rates. In addition, effective and frequent evaluation of bacteria levels for both new and existing ventilation systems would also be important. / Tidigt i mänsklighetens utveckling har kirurgin funnits med i bilden. Hantering av infektioner har genom tiderna varit en oundviklig del av alla kirurgiska ingrepp, och finns kvar ännu idag som en viktig utmaning i operationssalar på sjukhus. För patienter som genomgår kirurgi finns alltid en risk att de efter ingreppet utvecklar någon behandlingsrelaterad komplikation. Allmänt accepterat är att de luftburna bakterier som når operationsområdet huvudsakligen består av stafylokocker frigjorda från hudfloran av operationspersonalen i operationssalen, och att endast en liten del av dessa partiklar behövs för att initiera en allvarlig infektion i det behandlade området. Sårinfektioner innebär inte bara en enorm börda för hälso- och sjukvårdsresurser, utan utgör också en betydande risk för patienten. På sjukhus förvärvad infektion finns bland de främsta dödsorsakerna i kirurgiska patientgrupper.. En bred kunskap och förståelse av spridningsmekanismer och källor till infektionsspridande partiklar kan ge värdefulla möjligheter att kontrollera och minimera postoperativa infektioner. Denna avhandling bidrar till lösningar genom analys av en rad olika ventilationssystem tillsammans med undersökning av andra faktörer som kan påverka infektionsspridningen på sjukhus, främst i operationssalar. Syftet med arbetet är att med hjälp av CFD-teknik (Computational Fluid Dynamics) få bättre förståelse för olika luftspridningsmekanismers betydelse vid ventilation av operationssalar och vårdinrättningar på sjukhus, så att halten av bacteriebärande partiklar i luften kan minskas samtidigt som termisk komfort och luftkvalité förbättras.  Flera luftflödesprinciper för ventilation inklusive omblandade strömning, riktad (laminär) strömning och hybridstrategier har studerats. Simuleringar av luft-, partikel- och spårgasflöden gjordes för alla fallstudier för att undersöka partikelevakuering och luftomsättning i rummet. Flera viktiga parametrar som påverkar detta undersöktes och relevanta förbättringar  föreslås i samarbete med industrin. Av resultaten framgår att mängden genererade bakterier i en operationssal  kan begränsas genom att minska antalet personer i operationsteamet. Infektionsbenägna operationer skall utföras med så lite personal som möjligt. Den initiala källstyrkan (mängden kolonibildande enheter som en person avger per tidsenhet) från operationsteamet kan avsevärt minskas om högskyddande kläder används. Av resultaten framgår också att ett horisontellt (laminärt) luftflöde kan vara ett bra alternativ till det ofta använda vertikala luftflödet. Ett horisontellt luftflöde är mindre känsligt för termisk påverkan från omgivningen, enkelt att installera och underhålla, relativt kostnadseffektivt och kräver vanligen ingen förändring av befintlig belysningsarmatur. Framför allt begränsar inte denna ventilationsprincip kirurgernas rörelsemönster. De kan luta kroppen över operationsområdet utan att hindra luftflödet. En flyttbar flexibel skärm för horisontell spridning av ultraren ventilationsluft i tillägg till ordinarie ventilation undersöktes också. Man fann att denna typ av tilläggsventilation kan minska antalet luftburna partiklar som bär mikroorganismer om operationspersonalen följer en strikt arbetsordning. Bra samarbete och förståelse mellan ventilationsexperter och operationsteamet på sjukhuset är nyckeln till att få ner infektionsfrekvensen. Det är också viktigt med effektiva och frekventa utvarderingar av bakteriehalten i luften, för såväl nya  som befintliga ventilationssystem. / <p>QC 20160129</p>

Towards Industrial Fabrication of Electronic Devices and Circuits by Inkjet Printing Technology

Printing since many years has been a well-known high throughput technology for producing replications of graphic arts entities (texts, images, aesthetics, gloss and physical impressions) over large varieties of substrates which are dedicated for various needful applications like newspapers, magazines, posters, official documents, packages, braille, textiles, decorative articles and many more. Due to the fact, that printing is a liquid-solution based replication process, where basic ink and substrate are needed, it is now not only limited to printing of graphic arts. Whenever an ink is deposited over a defined substrate and the process can be multiplied, it can be termed as printing and once the final product contains a functionality other than graphic arts application, it can be called as “Printed Functionality”. Some examples for printed functionalities can be found in the following fields: A. Printed electronics (using inks having electronic properties); B. Printed micro-fluidics (using inks having polymeric and elastic properties for directive purposes); C. 3-Dimensional printing (using inks containing binding properties for developing three dimensional structures); D. Printed photonics (using inks having self-assembling properties for building-up symmetric micro-structures); E. Printed pyroelectrics (using inks containing thermally flammable properties); F. Printed ceramics (using inks with ceramic particles) and G. Printed optics and functional surfaces (using inks with transparency, absorbency and reflective properties). All these mentioned applications require functional inks which in turn exhibits some physical-chemical properties e.g. particle size, particle loading, fluid’s rheological properties etc. These properties determine the feasibility of the material’s deposition (in this case the functional inks) with a suitable printing technology. The inkjet printing technology among others has several advantages such as contactless deposition processability, digitalization (batch size one & turn-over time zero), user defined customization and adaptation, industrial relevance, minimal ink demand for R&Ds, freedom of substrate regularity and µm-scale print accuracy etc. Some of the imminent players in the inkjet printing technology market are Canon, Kodak, Hewlett Packard, Fujifilm Dimatix, Konica Minolta and XAAR. They provide print solutions from small to industrial scale printheads, printers, equipments and accessories for the realization of huge variety of application ideas. The inkjet is a versatile, but yet matured technology which finds its use in various application areas e.g. home office documentation, large format posters, variable data printing, security printing, textile printing, wallpapers, household articles, curved surfaces like bottles, printing over edible items, printing of elevated surfaces etc. And, hence there are several literatures published which show the use of the inkjet printing technology in the development of products for printed electronics. Some of the common examples are development of passive and active devices e.g. capacitors, resistors, thin-film-transistors, photovoltaics, sensors, circuits like logic gates for electronic switching, device arrays for detection purposes, point of care health applications, energy harvesting applications etc. But, the exploitation of the inkjet technology has not been intense enough to declare the industrial relevance of the technology to be utilized as a fabrication tool in the market. Meanwhile, all the researchers around the globe aim at a single goal, which is the development of “Proof of Concept” devices and applications. Thus, here in this dissertation the implementation of the inkjet printing technology as a digital fabrication tool is exploited to manufacture and up-scale the printed electronic products, which can show an industrial relevance to the commercial market. The main motivation why printed electronics is in great demand (scientific point of view) and has intensely emerged in the last decades, is because of the primary challenges faced in the fabrication process steps of the µ-electronics society. It is know that the classically fabricated µ-electronic products are in the market since long time due to their high reliability, consistent performance and defined applications in circuitry. But, what cannot be ignored is the involved fabrication steps promote several demerits such as the in-flexibility towards the fabrication process, material wastage, in-ability to up-scale into larger areas and huge quantities, and physical rigidity. Some of these mentioned problems are commonly seen e.g. spin coating, chemical vapor-phase deposition, physical vapor-phase deposition, atomic layer deposition and sputtering fabrication technologies. In this present dissertation, on the contrary, the challenges linked with the manufacturing process of the µ-electronic devices using the inkjet technology are focused and attempts are made to counteract them. Some of the foreseen challenges are: A. process workflow adaptation in device manufacturing; B. validation and evaluation of device performance; C. industrializing the inkjet technology (manufacturing µ-electronics in massive quantities); D. evaluating the fabrication yield of printed devices; D. Generating statistics regarding reliability and scalability; and E. demonstrating tolerances in electronic performances. These are definitely the challenges which must be overcome, and these key research points are addressed in the dissertation.
