Recepce české literatury ve Španělsku s přihlédnutím ke zprostředkující roli němčiny / Reception of Czech literature in Spain considering the mediating role of German

Vavroušová, Petra January 2016 (has links)
The objective of the present doctoral thesis is to describe the reception of Czech literature in Spain between 1900 and 2015 with a special emphasis on German as a mediating language for translation between Czech and Spanish, placing Czech research of this phenomenon into a broad international context of investigating the role of languages and cultures in multilingual communities. The thesis further explores issues partially covered by previous research (Uličný 2005, Špirk 2011, 2014, Cuenca 2013). The theoretical part first provides a short historical context of both countries, commenting on their bilateral relations during the 20th century, analysing the publishing sector and describing the official censorship. It then provides a detailed investigation of indirect translations and introduces diverse methods in which they can be explored, highlighting the importance of paratextual material, that is paratexts (Genette 1982, 1987) and metatexts (Popovič 1975, 1983), and the influence of censorship and dominant ideology (Abellán 1980, 1982, 1987; Neuschäfer 1994). Methodologically, the present work relies on Czech and Slovak translation studies (Levý, Popovič) and the Spanish TRACE project (Rabadán, Merino). The empirical part uses the methodological tools of critical discourse analysis, author's...

Schlindwein, Carolina Frank January 2008 (has links)
Background: There are no satisfactory growth charts for very low birth weight (VLBW) infants from hospital discharge up to two years corrected age that take in consideration all the changes that occurred in neonatal care in the last twenty years. Objectives: To obtain weight, length and head circumference growth charts up to 2 year corrected age (CA) for a cohort of VLBW infants and, also to compare appropriate (AGA) and small (SGA) for gestational age growth curves. Methods: A cohort of VLBW infants admitted to our NICU up to 24 hours after birth from November 2003 through September 2005, and discharged from hospital was studied up to 2 years CA. Infants with major malformations, chromosomal syndromes, congenital infections (STORCH group), and those that had less than 3 appointments in the follow up clinic in the first two years were excluded. Weight, length, and head circumference were measured monthly up to 2 years CA. Results: Mean weight. Length, and head circumference were obtained from 117 newborns (51 AGA and 66 SGA). Growth curves for AGA and SGA infants were obtained. The weight, length, and head circumference growth curves had the same shape for AGA and SGA infants (p=0.211; p=0.193; p=0.463, respectively). Mean weight, length and head circumference at 40 weeks, 12 months and 24 months CA were significantly higher in AGA than in SGA infants (p<0.01, Mixed effect models). Conclusion: Growth curves obtained in this longitudinal study are adequate for monitoring post-natal growth of AGA and SGA VLBW infants.

This study , entitled “Nas Águas da AGA – Reflexões sobre a Associação Gaúcha de Arte-Educação e seus Reflexos na História do Ensino da Arte no RS” refers to a research carried out at the Center for interdisciplinary Aesthetic Studies , NUTREE , of Course Postgraduate degree in Visual Arts, Master Arts in Teaching Art Research and Education Aesthetics line at the Federal University of Pelotas, Brazil. Appropriates a metaphorical water / AGA to focus on the influence of affective groups , tribes and associations of Art Education in the history of art education in RS . Part of my experiences in training and comes to the ethical- aesthetic perspective the art of living in the sociality - configuration which includes the passion within the social . The research is qualitative , and is divided into distinct periods , performing a methodological approach that oscillates between biographical and autobiographical narratives and documentary analysis of the trajectory of the state association of Art Education , AGA . Testimonials from former presidents and members of AGA / RS were acquired , and data collected from hundreds of documents , including , newsletters , photographs, letters , manifestos , minutes book , pamphlets, newspapers , posters and event programs in a library rich and unprecedented provided by the protagonists of the history of AGA . Only a portion of this collection was analyzed in this work , organized by setting up seven ports and some dips , metaphors built to work that considered a port for each president of AGA , and a dip for each event related to my own life story in training . In parallel , it crossed the relationship of history of this association with the history of the movement of art education in RS and with my interpretation and inclusion in this story . The main theoretical that supported this research were Maffesoli , with its contemporary sociological analysis based on categories of tribe and sociality , Edgar Morin , through their paradigm of complexity, and Michel Serres , whose crossbred philosophical contributions have supported many of my considerations about the timing history we are experiencing. Besides them , Marie - Christine and Christine Delory Josso Momberger contributed to the use of narratives (auto ) biographical, and Zygmunt Bauman , with his concept of liquid modernity, which provided theoretical support to the metaphor of water that moistens all this reflection. The main categories used to analyze the statements were sensitive reason, sociability, relationship power - power and contemporary tribes , all based , mostly , on the work of Michel Meffesoli . It is hoped that this research can contribute to a reflective, poetic and political space ( re) constitution of history, memory, emotions and cognitions triggered by art education toward a more conscious action ever Art Teacher daily at school and society .

A company’s ability Not to default on a loan : Does the location have an impact?

SUNDQVIST, ALYCIA January 2018 (has links)
This thesis aims to answer the question if the type of region or category of a municipality in which a company is located in, impacts the company’s ability not to default on a loan. Previous literature is used to find which determinants have an impact on a company’s survival from five levels: Macro, Industry, Regional, Company and Individual entrepreneur. The data used is in collaboration with a financial company offering small businesses credit products. They have contributed with loan data. A statistical analysis has been done and the method used is a logistic regression, where the dependent variable is if the company is defaulting on their loan or not. The conclusions that can be drawn are that in correlation with the previous findings the age of the firm, employees, and capital had a positive relationship to a company’s probability of not defaulting. Furthermore, the regional factors does have an impact on a company’s ability not to default on a loan. The commuting regions have a positive relationship to the probability of a company’s ability not to default on a loan.

Application of total quality management (TQM) in evaluating the quality of library services at the Aga Khan University Library

Kanguru, Anne Gathoni January 2014 (has links)
The study investigated the service quality of the Aga Khan University (AKU) library as an example of an academic library in Kenya using SERVQUAL, a user based assessment tool. Total Quality Management (TQM) philosophy formed the basis of the study; a philosophy that is customer oriented and lays great emphasis on enhancing customer satisfaction. The study adopted a survey design and data was collected using a structured selfadministered questionnaire by the name of SERVQUAL. The study sample consisted of nursing and medical faculty; nursing and medical students. A total of 78 (63%) respondents responded to the questionnaire. The data was analysed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 17.0. Descriptive statistics was provided and univariate analysis was applied to examine the characteristics of the 2 main variables; perceptions and expectations. The findings of the study established that the expectations of AKU library users are higher than their perceptions. It is also evident from the findings that there are service quality gaps in a number of library services offered by AKU library. This is demonstrated through the gap analysis between the AKU library users‟ perceptions and the users‟ expectations of AKU library. The study recommends that AKU library as well as other academic libraries in Kenya adopt user based assessment tools such as SERVQUAL in the evaluation of library service quality. The study further recommends that AKU library needs to address gaps between the library users‟ perception and the users‟ expectation in order to enhance customer satisfaction through the provision of quality services. The study also recommends that AKU library needs to address the gaps in service attributes such as those relating to AKU library staff, reliability and efficiency of AKU library service delivery. In line with the findings the study further recommends more training for AKU library staff in areas such as customer service skills as well as the need for AKU library to invest more in its physical facility and equipment. / Information Science / M.A. (Information Science)

Barnaga - unga vuxnas attityder

Ahlberg, Magdalena, Fredriksson, Daniel, Lindsten, Emma January 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine young adults', 18-19 years old, attitudes towards corporal punishment and with the help of social constructionism, grid-group theory and relevant concepts analyze the results and compare it with previous research. The research questions introduce various factors such as gender, origin and personal experiences of corporal punishment that may affect the attitudes. In order to fulfill the purpose and answer the research questions, a quantitative research method has been selected. There was 118 participants in the survey. The study was conducted by means of surveys in high schools in Örebro. Social constructionism made us realize how the community, perceptions and expectations might influence attitudes. Grid-group theory gave us an insight into how different family structures may explain why attitudes toward corporal punishment of children differ between individuals. One of the conclusions of this study is that the long-term trend of decreasing positive attitudes toward corporal punishment seems to continue. Results show that all of 41, 2% of young adults in our study, with parents born outside the Nordic countries, have been subjected to corporal punishment. Personal experiences and parents' origin has been shown to have effects on attitudes towards corporal punishment. Different family structures and attitudes towards child rearing may be important to understand and take into consideration in social work. The study shows that corporal punishment still exists, which makes the topic worth of attention and we recommend it to be studied further.
