This thesis discuss the ways in which career-driven women balance their professional lives with that of their families, with focus on women working in managerial positions in healthcare facilities. As well as the definition of theoretical concepts, basic time management strategies and a close analysis of planning I., II., III., and IV. generations of time- management, attention will be given to the history of time management and the developmental needs of children. From the research point of view, the question: What strategies for balancing work and family do women in management positions working in healthcare rely on? Outlined in this work is the research plan, data collection, analysis and the summary of results. Also included is a chapter devoted to the ethical aspects of this research. The overall aim of this master project was to create an audio record consisting of seven tracks that are both cohesive and very individual at the same time. The pieces are thought to showcase the diversity of my creative identity as a composer and music producer and will represent my individual way of composing and producing music freed from all external influences in the best way possible. This written part of the thesis is a documentation and critical reflection as well as investigation of the creation process: from sorting out the original material, writing, producing and arranging over to mixing and mastering. The observations I make are the essential part of investigating my own creative identity as a music producer and composer. In addition to the audio record and its critical reflection, this thesis will also state remarks on three time management methods I apply onto my creation process in order to observe their effects on my working routine. / Det övergripande målet för detta examensarbete var att skapa en ljudinspelning bestående av sju låtar som är både sammanhängande och mycket individuella samtidigt. Låtarna ska presentera mångfalden av min kreativa identitet som kompositör och musikproducent och ska representera mitt individuella sätt att komponera och producera musik befriad från alla yttre influenser på bästa möjliga sätt. Denna masteruppsats är en dokumentation och kritisk reflektion samt en undersökning av skapandeprocessen: från att sortera ur originalmaterialet, skriva, producera och arrangera till mixning och mastering. Observationerna jag gör är den väsentliga delen av att undersöka min egen kreativa identitet som musikproducent och kompositör. Förutom ljudinspelningen och dess kritiska reflektion kommer denna masteruppsats också att ge kommentarer om tre metoder för time management som jag använder under min skapandeprocess för att observera effekterna på min arbetsrutin.

Studies of foraging behaviour and time budgeting in great tits (Parus major)

Part One is an investigation of the dawn chorus in the Great Tit. The major conclusions are as follows: Foraging and singing are partly incompatible because of the temporal and spatial separation of microhabitat conditions required for each activity. The dawn chorus occurs at a time of day when: a) foraging efficiency is limited by low light intensity and possibly by lack of mobility of the prey due to low temperature; b) acoustic communication is more efficient than visual displays because of poor visibility and an enhanced sound transmission; c) the rate of territorial intrusion is at its daily peak. Great Tit's readiness to sing and react agonistically towards a territorial intruder is enhanced by experimentally lowering profitability of feeding, but it does not appear to be affected by time of day. Restricting access to food early in the morning leads to higher body weight in the evenings as an anticipatory compensation. Part Two is a study of sampling strategies based on the statistical decision paradigm known as the Two-Armed Bandit problem. I studied transition behaviour in foraging experiments using concurrent variable ratio schedules. The birds' foraging behaviour approximated the predictions of a dynamic programming algorithm that calculates the optimal balance between exploring and exploiting for finite time horizons. The birds' response to patch diversity and time horizon was closer to molar maximization (total rewards over a certain period) than to molecular maximization (maximising the instantaneous probability of reward). When the environment is not totally stable these two possibilities conflict, and my results supported molar maximization. Part Three investigates the trade-off between maximising foraging efficiency and efficient territorial defence. Great Tits behaved close to the predictions of the Marginal Value model when there were no territorial intrusions, but modified their feeding behaviour in the predicted way when the probability of intrusion was higher.

The purpose of this Thesis is to show ways of the selfmanagement and to include them into daily life. Using several publications I suggest possibilities of personal progress and its benefit for our life. I research the awareness about the selfmanagement and its principles. I lead the respondents to deeper thinking about their life attitude and self-respect. It is focused on purpose of living, life goals and principles, time management, self-control, a creativity and alternative ways to personal progress. I would like to explain connections between personal and working life. Well-balanced and creative person, who is cultivating himself, has better potencial for satisfied working life. The process of writing Master's Thesis was enriching and I hope it was also an inspiration for the respondents. I find it very important to focuse not only on outside world, but first of all on inside world. I wish the selfmanagement would come closer to more people and help them to build a happy life.

The effects of the LEQ’s life skills domains as it relates to the engagement in health risk behaviour among grade 8 learners in a selected high school in Paarl

Magister Artium (Child and Family Studies) - MA(CFS) / Adolescence can be understood as the transitional period between childhood and adulthood. During adolescence individuals tend to experiment and discover who they are in terms of their unique social identity and are more susceptible to health risk behaviour engagement. Health risk behaviour place individuals at risk for numerous health complications. The most common forms of health risk behaviours are smoking, drinking, illicit drug use, risky sexual behaviour, violence and physical inactivity. Life skills development has been proven to reduce many health risk behaviours in adolescents. The Life Effectiveness Questionnaire (LEQ) is a psychometric instrument which has been developed to measure life skills. Social Cognitive Theory posits that people are not driven by inner forces nor are they controlled by external stimuli, rather there is a reciprocal triadic relationship where the environment, cognition and personal factors influences learning through observation. When in the presence of their peers, adolescents are more likely to engage in health risk behaviour because of peer influence and immediate rewards. This study aimed to study the effects of the LEQs life skills domains as it relates to the engagement in health risk behaviour among Grade 8 learners in a selected high school in Paarl. This study used a quantitative methodology with a cross-sectional design employing written surveys. The sample consisted of 104 Grade 8 learners. The data was collected using self-reported questionnaires. One was the LEQ (Appendix 5 and 6) which measures life skills and the other was the Youth Risk Behaviour Surveillance Survey (YRBSS) (Appendix 7) which measures the prevalence of health risk behaviour engagement. The data was analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences V24 (SPSS). The results suggested that there is still a high prevalence of health risk behaviour engagement among Grade 8 learners with increases evident in some of the health risk behaviours.

The purpose of this study was to compare the achievement of adult high school students enrolled in a one-semester economics course allocated 60 hours of instruction to the achievement of regular high school students in the same course that was allocated 73 hours of instruction.From three large high schools in Indiana offering both regular high school and adult high school credit programs, a sample of 178 students was selected. One case was dropped from the study, reducing the sample size to 177.The structure of the available adult education delivery system did not permit a direct comparison of adult high school credit classes with differing instructional time allotments.As a result, the achievement comparison was made between adult high school and regular high school students. To control for possible initial differences between the two groups of students with regard to academic aptitude, the Test of Cognitive Stills was administered.The Test of Economic Literacy Form A was selected as a pretest to measure each student's prior knowledge of economics. The Test of Economic Literacy Form B was administered at the completion of the course to measure the achievement gain.A two-by-two analysis of covariance was used to statistically analyze the data.FindingsThe null hypothesis was tested for significance at the .05 level. The null hypothesis of no difference was not rejected, and the following conclusion was made:ConclusionThe allocation of thirteen additional hours of classroom instructional time to senior high economics classes did not produce a significant gain in achievement.

Motivationens inverkan på mäklares tidsplanering : En tvärsnittsstudie om Self-Determination Theory och Time Management

Syfte: Vårt syfte är att analysera hur inre- och yttre motivation (Self-Determination Theory) och användning av tidsplaneringsverktyg (Time Management) interagerar inom Svensk Fastighetsförmedling. Vidare syftar studien till att analysera de eventuella kopplingar mellan Self-Determination Theory och Time Management som studien frambringar. Metod: Studien är av kvantitativ art och med grund i tidigare forskning utformades en enkät med totalt 38 frågor. Enkäten har konstruerats i Google Drive och distribuerats till respondenterna via e-post genom vår kontaktperson på Svensk Fastighetsförmedling. Totalt erhölls 303 enkätsvar, vilket innebar en svarsfrekvens på 38 %. Enkätsvaren har analyserats med hjälp av en korrelationsanalys och en faktoranalys.    Resultat & slutsats: Vår empiriska studie resulterade i viktiga upptäckter avseende mäklares motivation och deras inställning till tidsplanering. Det som främst driver mäklarna visade sig vara den inre motivationsfaktorn meningsfulla relationer. Gällande tidsplanering fann vi bland annat att majoriteten av mäklarna upprättar listor över saker som ska göras. Faktoranalysen verifierar kategoriuppdelningen inom SDT, trots att indelningen av subkategorierna inte stämmer överens till fullo, medan TM inte stämde lika väl överens med dess teoretiska grund. Förslag till vidare forskning: Det vore intressant att genomföra denna studie på andra mäklarbyråer för att se om de får liknande resultat, vilket leder att vår studies reliabilitet höjs och resultaten kan därmed generaliseras. Det skulle även vara intressant att bredda forskningen till helt andra branscher för att se om sambandsmönster kan utläsas även där. En annan vinkling kan vara att genomföra denna studie med en kvalitativ metod för att få djupare kunskaper om varför respondenterna anser som de gör. Uppsatsens bidrag: Att undersöka kopplingen mellan teorierna SDT och TM är den första studien av sitt slag och vår studie bidrar därmed till utveckling av de två teorifälten. Studien kan även bidra till att företagsledare inser vikten av att veta vad sina anställda motiveras av och hur bra de är på att planera sin tid. Med vetskap om detta kan de individanpassa sitt ledarskap, vilket kan öka de anställdas välmående och prestation.
