Les coopérations en réseau pour optimiser la performance de l’entreprise : l’exemple du réseau logistique en Chine / Cooperation in network to optimize business performance : the case of logistics network in China

Xiang, Tingting 17 September 2012 (has links)
The major aims of this study are to identify the differences between horizontal cooperation and vertical cooperation in network and identify their mechanisms of influence on firm performance. The literature review allows us to develop a research model based on three complementary approaches mobilized: the IMP approach, the Resource-Based approach and Mass Customization approach. Empirical research, based on a quantitative analysis of 134 logistics service providers operating in China, allows us to characterize and describe the cooperation within logistics network in China and to test our research hypotheses. The results highlight the existence of several types of cooperation in terms of resources and activities, for which we found no significant difference between horizontal cooperation and vertical cooperation. All of these PSL fall into three groups according to their cooperation level. The group of PSL who cooperate the most often is marked by a better performance. Moreover, the results show a direct positive influence of cooperation in terms of execution activities, planning activities and knowledge on the operational performance of the firm. They also reveal an indirect positive impact of cooperation in terms of knowledge, relational resources, information resources and physical resources on operational performance.

Commercializing emerging technologies through networks : case of nanotech SMEs in the UK

Salehi Yazdi, Fatemeh January 2016 (has links)
This research aims at understanding how business networks influence the commercialization of emerging technologies. It focuses on small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the field of nanotechnology in the UK and aims to identify what types of networks they use for commercialization. It also examines how different types of networks can explain success or otherwise in commercialization with respect to the position of the SME in the value chain and the type of resulting innovation. Various streams of literature including debates on SMEs and innovation, open innovation, the innovation systems literature, and the industrial networks approach are used to develop a conceptual framework that guides this research. Using a case study approach, 23 Nanotech SMEs in the UK are investigated. Secondary data on firms are gathered from various sources including company websites and the FAME database. Primary data are collected through 40 semi-structured interviews with SMEs’ senior managers and key informants. Data analysis is based upon thematic analysis. The findings present a typology of networks based on a combination of network structure and actor roles, including six network types: incumbent-oriented network with reactive SME, incumbent-oriented network with proactive SME, SME-oriented network, broker-oriented networks, hybrid networks and interrupted networks. The findings indicate that a reactive approach towards networking is less conducive to commercialization, regardless of the innovation type or value chain position. SMEs can proactively create incumbent-oriented, SME-oriented or broker-oriented networks to facilitate commercialization. Incumbent-oriented networks with proactive SMEs are conducive to commercialization of both nanomaterials and nano-intermediate products and can facilitate commercialization of moderately and highly radical nanotechnology. SME-oriented networks are also conducive to commercialization of moderately and highly radical nanotechnology, but have been used for commercialization of nano-enabled products. Broker-oriented networks can facilitate commercialization of technologies or products developed in the upstream part of the value chain and are more influential in the commercialization of moderately or highly radical nanotechnology. Some Nanotech SMEs are simultaneously involved in more than one network type, i.e. have hybrid networks, pursuing multiple strategies for commercialization. All SMEs with hybrid networks have broker-oriented networks in common and in some cases the broker-oriented network has caused formation of other network types. Finally, the findings show how interrupted networks pose the biggest challenge for commercialization. The thesis contributes to the debates on SMEs and innovation and the gap on how open innovation is implemented within the context of SMEs and emerging technologies. This research also informs SME managers' strategies and choices related to participation in business networks. It provides further insights for policy makers regarding the networking behaviour of SMEs and contribution of various network actors to commercialization and in this way assists with devising policies for encouraging and facilitating collaboration for commercialization.

The global demand for fisheries has increased every year, serving to encourage aquaculture activity with great potential of raising production, since it is the previously planned cultivation of aquatic organisms. In Brazil, aquaculture modality that is booming is fish farming in cages, and the Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is the main cultivated species. In the Southeast of the country, especially in São Paulo, the expansion of tilapia culture is taking place mainly through the use of cages in the large reservoirs of hydroelectric power plants (HPP). Among the state's reservoirs, it is the HPP Canoas I which is located on the Paranapanema River and covers the municipalities of Cândido Mota - SP and Itambaracá - PR. Since both municipalities have significant data regarding fish farming in general and in fishnet tanks, this region was defined as the study focus of this research, for which it was proposed as a general objective to analyze the competitiveness of the agents involved in the production of tilapia in cages in the hydroelectric reservoir of the Hydroelectric Plant of Canoas I and their inclusion in social networks. In addition, one of the specific objectives would be to analyze the relationship between the level of integration into social network and level of competitiveness. In order to meet the research objectives, the work included literature on two theoretical aspects involved (Social Networks and Competitiveness) and field research, where fish farmers inserted in the HPP Canoas I reservoir were identified, contacted and interviewed, answering characterization questions of relative order and on competitiveness. The analysis of social network has been made from the treatment of the answers to relational issues and their submission to UCINET® software. The results showed that the most prominent fish farmers on the network are in Paraná bank of the reservoir and work for a long time with the production of tilapia in cages. The competitiveness analysis, in turn, was held from seven drivers: technology and innovation, input and infrastructure, market structure, internal management, institutional environment, market relations and environmental issues. In general, the greatest impasses found to increase the level of competitiveness are linked to the institutional environment and the discrepancy about the importance of environmental issues among the fish farmers of Sao Paulo and Parana. The individual competitiveness of calculations for each fish farmer showed that four fish farmers with higher levels of competitiveness are in Paraná bank of HPP reservoir Canoas I and are experienced in fish activity. Three of these fish farmers are the same three that had greater inclusion in social network. Nevertheless, the relationship between the level of integration in social network and level of competitiveness could not be completely proven, since the same was not observed for other fish farmers. / FAPESP: 2014/16075-2
