Annual bluegrass (Poa annua L.) is a problematic weed in turfgrass that has evolved resistance to twelve different herbicide sites of action. The mitotic-inhibiting herbicide pronamide has both pre- and post-emergence activity on susceptible annual bluegrass populations. Still, post-emergence activity may be compromised in some resistant populations due to the lack of root uptake or an unknown foliar resistance mechanism. Spray droplet size may affect foliar and soil deposition of pronamide, thus potentially explaining variation in population control or differential foliar and root uptake. Pronamide, flazasulfuron, and pronamide + flazasulfuron deposition were quantified on annual bluegrass as affected by spray-droplet size. The efficacy of these herbicide treatments in resistant (R) and susceptible (S) annual bluegrass populations was then evaluated with two droplet sizes (400 and 1000 μm). Absorption and translocation of pronamide were investigated in R and S populations following foliar-only and soil-only pronamide applications.

Background and problem: Accounting shall give a true and a fair view of a company, where an annual report´s compliance with IFRS 7 and risk disclosure ratio is highly valued by stakeholders. Risks are always a relevant topic, as they arise unexpectedly and society´s expectations of businesses change. The information that companies provide regarding risk, both current and potential, is highly relevant to their stakeholders. Thus, risk disclosures are arguably one of the most important elements in the analysis of annual reports. This implies that companies’ risk disclosures are actualized and problematized, where compliance with Covid-19 related risks, interest rate risk and geopolitical instability increases the complexity of risk disclosures. As a result of the preceding, there is a valid reason to examine the extent to which companies listed on Nasdaq OMX Stockholm are complying with the IFRS framework and the IFRS 7 standard regarding to risk disclosures. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the extent to which companies listed on Nasdaq OMX Stockholm provide information about risks in their annual reports. The study also aims to examine which factors affect the level of risk disclosure in companies’ annual reports. Research issue: To which extent do companies listed on Nasdaq OMX Stockholm provide risk disclosures in their annual reports and what are the factors that affect this choice? Method: The study adopts a quantitative research strategy in order to achieve the objectives set by there search issue. The research material consists of each company’s annual report from 2022, which implies that these are the source of information and that a content analysis is performed to quantify the content. The study has excluded the financial sector, as they are subject to special rules. The factors that are examined in the statistic models used to explain the effects on the amount of risk disclosures are: companysize, industry, audit firm, the size of the board of directors, the date of publication of the annual report and the number of pages in the annual report. The final sample size is 64 companies. Results and conclusions: The results of the study accept the hypothesis that firm size is an explanatory factor in the extent to which companies provide risk disclosures in their annual reports in relation to IFRS7. The remaining hypotheses are rejected, as the results could not prove any significance for the sevariables in relation to the extent of risk disclosures.

Although there is substantial literature on the use of performance appraisal in the for-profit world, there is little literature available concerning the appraisal of staff positions in higher education. More knowledge is needed in this area since there is considerable research indicating that performance appraisal creates benefits to an organization and its employees. This study provides a comprehensive review of the development and use of performance appraisal in the United States, and a detailed look at the purposes, benefits, and challenges of performance appraisal. The study found a very high usage of staff performance appraisal in its population of 108 Christian colleges and universities. However, it also found a significant amount of dissatisfaction with the appraisal process due to (a) lack of leadership support for the appraisal process, (b) supervisors not being held accountable for the timely completion of their appraisals, and (c) the lack of training provided supervisors for doing performance appraisals well.

Annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) can be divided into two cytotypes: diploid (2n = 2x = 14) or tetraploid (2n = 4x = 28). Transforming annual ryegrass from diploid to tetraploid often results in increased seedling vigor, more robust growth and, thus, supposedly greater yield. There has been conflicting research that suggests no difference in yield between diploid and tetraploid cultivars, but livestock producers’ question whether benefits exist to utilizing tetraploid cultivars for grazing cattle. This study sought to determine if annual ryegrass cytotype affected cattle average daily gain. Although there were no differences in average daily gain between cytotypes, there were differences among cultivars. In 2017, Jumbo (4x) produced the greatest weight gain, while in 2018, Tam-90 (2x) generated the greatest gain. This study suggests that there are no advantages attributed to average daily gain by utilizing tetraploid, as opposed to diploid cultivars.

Graded concentrations of soybean hull pellets (SHP) fed to calves consuming annual ryegrass baleage was evaluated in two experiments. Experiment one evaluated performance and serum glucose of animals fed three treatments. Treatments were: 0.0% (TRT 0), 0.5% (TRT 0.5), 1.0% (TRT 1) body weight (BW) of SHP fed daily while calves had ad libitum access to baleage. Average daily gain and BW increased for calves receiving TRT 1 (P < 0.05). Experiment two evaluated passage rate of treatments using ytterbium chloride as a marker. Passage rate of diet decreased for TRT 1 compared to TRT 0 (10.9 h vs. 16.72 h TRT 1 and TRT 0 respectively, P < 0.05). Calves receiving TRT 0.5 had greater ADG than calves fed TRT 0 (0.54 kg/d and 0.30 kg/d respectively; P < 0.05). Diet passage rate decreased as supplement amount increased (P < 0.05). Serum glucose concentrations were not affected.
