Abreu e Lima, o escritor público: estudo e antologia / Abreu e Lima, the public writer: study and anthology

Tatiane Maria Barbosa de Oliveira 05 October 2018 (has links)
This M. Phil dissertation talks about José Ignácio de Abreu e Lima (1794-1869) as a man of letters in the 19th century, who, besides being General of Simón Bolívar (1767-1830), had distinguished contribution in the nascent Brazilian literary historiography, with essays that had denoted historical synthesis and declarations of purpose for the institution of literature for the country. As a main objective, we intend to organize the first anthology about Abreu e Lima writings, aiming to elucidate him from his role as a public writer, which includes trying to fit him into the categories of publicists and orators and historiography and literary criticism, from the study of his complete texts or parts of his selected works of its vast production. As a specific objective we proposed to evaluate how, from his writings, the author Abreu e Lima developed his subjects and contents in three levels: the autobiographical look, the look at the other, and the look that is configured in the literature of a nation. This anthological essay presents an introductory essay, in which we approach Abreu e Lima as a public writer, then critically present the selected texts and their transcriptions. In addition, we will also offer a section with a bibliographical survey of the works published by Abreu e Lima and their reissues.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Nathaly Felipe Ferreira Alves.pdf: 1020502 bytes, checksum: c464ab41f15df0639100dd44e0a292bf (MD5) Previous issue date: 2017-02-16 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The aim of this study is to analyse the relations between reading and writing processes in the metapoetic exercise appropriation of modernist expression poems of Brazilian Literature, in the poems that compose ―Reamanhecer‖, second part of Stella Leonardos‘ poetry book Amanhecência (1974). This metapoetic rewriting operates by means of an analogical thinking, in which the figure of the ―critical poet‖ in his relationship with tradition is outlined. By this double movement, founded on the relocation of the lyrical subject ―out of itself‖, this research hypothesis arises on a singular ―book-anthology‖ in which the poet seizes the poems which she dialogues with, based on two procedures: the ―expansion‖, generator of the ―parallel song‖, and the ―reduction‖, in which the gloss of the epigraphs is a key resource – both on the bases of the metapoetic perspective. The theoretical foundations for the analysis are arised on the studies of Eliot (1989) and Maciel (1999) on the field of ―critical poetry‖; Valéry (2007), Blanchot (1987; 2013) and Badiou (2002) regarding to the status of poetic thinking; in addition to Collot (2004) on the ―lyrical subject out of itself‖. The methodology of analysis of the corpus – six poems of ―Reamanhecer‖ (“Qualquer coisa chora pelo mar aberto”, “Paulistana”, “Soneto de ar amigo”, “Da bomba”, “Do antológico bêbedo” and “Soneto alado‖), which dealings with poems of Ribeiro Couto, Oswald de Andrade, Mário de Andrade, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Dante Milano e Jorge de Lima, respectively – focused on the comparative analysis perspective of the poems. It is concluded that Stella Leonardos creates a singular ―history of literature written in verse‖ which determines not only a new concept of poetic-critical anthology, revitalizing a synchronic history of Brazilian Literature, as proposed by Haroldo de Campos (1969), but also envisages an instigating metapoetic exercise in the formation of the literary reader / O objetivo desta pesquisa é examinar, nos poemas que compõem ―Reamanhecer‖, segunda parte do livro Amanhecência (1974), de Stella Leonardos, as relações entre leitura/escritura no exercício metapoético de apropriação de poemas de expressão modernista da literatura brasileira.

Southern Poetry Anthology, VII: North Carolina

Graves, Jesse, Ruffin, Paul, Wright, William 01 January 2015 (has links)
Robert Morgan and Kathryn Stripling Byer, Al Maginnes and Cathy Smith Bowers, Thomas Rain Crowe and Michael McFee, as well as many new voices. . . Indeed, the variegation of the Tar Heel State's landscapes, as well as its rich history, is reflected through the myriad voices of its contemporary verse. As with other volumes of The Southern Poetry Anthology, this book--full of a wide gamut of poetic styles and approaches--will appeal to many readers, prove an excellent teaching resource for North Carolina students of literature, and serve as the definitive poetic document for North Carolina for many years. Conceived by Series Editor William Wright in 2003, The Southern Poetry Anthology is a projected twelve-to-sixteen volume project celebrating established and emerging poets of the American South, published by Texas Review Press. Inspired by single-volume anthologies such as Leon Stokesbury's The Made Thing, Gil Allen's A Ninety-Six Sampler, and Guy Owen and Mary C. Williams' Contemporary Southern Poetry: an Anthology, The Southern Poetry Anthology aspires to provide readers with a documentary-like survey of the best poetry being written in the American South at the present moment. Specifically, the editors' goals are twofold: first, to re-establish poetry of the South as a major presence in American literature, and second, to include a greater range of poets from the South to introduce a new poetic geography, a fresh corpus of what we understand to be "Southern Poetry." / https://dc.etsu.edu/etsu_books/1019/thumbnail.jpg

Southern Poetry Anthology, VI: Tennessee

Graves, Jesse, Ruffin, Paul, Wright, William 01 January 2013 (has links)
The state of Tennessee is widely recognized as a home of great music, and its geographic regions are as distinct as Memphis blues, Nashville country, and Bristol old-time sounds. Tennessee’s literary heritage offers equal variety and quality, as home to the Fugitive Agrarian Poets, as well as a signature voice from the Black Arts Movement. Few states present such a multicultural panorama as does the Volunteer State. The poems in The Southern Poetry Anthology, Volume VI: Tennessee engage the storied histories, diverse cultures, and vibrant rural and urban landscapes of the region. Among the more than 120 poets represented are Pulitzer and Bollingen Prize-winner Charles Wright, Brittingham Award-winner Lynn Powell, and Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize-winners Rick Hilles and Arthur Smith. The book includes an introduction from renowned poet Jeff Daniel Marion, who in 1978 received the first literary fellowship from the Tennessee Arts Commission. Too, the book celebrates relatively young and gifted voices. This important anthology will stand for many years as the definitive poetic document for the state of Tennessee. / https://dc.etsu.edu/etsu_books/1088/thumbnail.jpg

Les démonstrations du corps. L'œuvre poétique de Herberto Helder / The demonstrations of the body. Herberto Helder's poetic work

Rodrigues, Daniel 10 December 2012 (has links)
Our thesis analyses the presence of the body in the works of the Portuguese poet Herbert Helder, which is often considered obscure and hermetic. We study his last anthology, Ofício Cantante, published in 2009. It is our opinion that the characteristics we mentioned, in general considered an obstacle to the reading, allow, conversely, the understanding of Helder’s poetic creation, as they can be read as a corporal experience. Our starting point is divided into two hypotheses: the first proposes that the body confounds itself with the text. The second proposes that the body is a category prior to the text, or a textual construct. In both cases, the body is an “inexplicable demonstration”, if we use the words of the poet. We thus follow the evolution of the poet’s different anthologies to show that they offer the reading of the totality of his writings, or their evolution, and that, in fact, they inscribe a discontinuity in the body of his writing. We also try to redeem the persona by studying the poetic voice and the definition of its masculinity. We also propose an analysis of the body as an actor, which is similar to the diseased body and the animal body.

Briller par la diversité : les recueils collectifs de poésies au XVIIe siècle (1597-1671) / French poetry collections of the 17th century (1597-1671)

Speyer, Miriam 10 April 2019 (has links)
This study examines poetry collections printed in France between 1597 and 1671. During this period, poetry is not published as the work of an author, but integrated into collections, which unite the works of various authors. While Frédéric Lachèvre has alerted us to the importance of the phenomenon through his bibliography (Bibliographie des recueils collectifs publiés de 1597 à 1700), a systematic study on 17th century poetry collections is still missing. How did these collections influence the way poetry was written, read and published? To answer this question, this study uses a two-fold approach.I carve out a typology of 17th century text collections with the aim of determining their importance in the editorial practice of the time. A database containing information on 10 000 poems, developed specifically for this study, enables us to analyse these texts following various criteria (poetic form, metre, subject, composition) and further to identify the most typical pieces of certain decades.Instead of focusing on individual poets, this study centres around the prevailing way of publishing poetry in 17th century France. Thanks to this general approach it is able to identify different poetical and aesthetical movements of the time. Moreover, with the help of the database, I can isolate the stylistic characteristics that identify poems composed during the same period. This study finally considers 17th century poetry collections as an historical and commercial object. By taking into account studies on book history and the socio-cultural context, it discusses how these collections were composed, produced and read.

Creating the Appalachian Woman: An Anthology of Appalachian Women Writers, 1865-1884.

Hale, Julie Elizabeth 07 May 2005 (has links) (PDF)
This anthology of nineteenth-century women’s regional fiction, written in the mode of canon revision, explores how persistent stereotypes of Appalachian women originated. These stereotypes are not merely identified but are also considered in the context of women’s studies. Works by the following six authors are included: Elizabeth Appleton, Rebecca Harding Davis, Frances Hodgson Burnett, Constance Fenimore Woolson, Sherwood Bonner, and Mary Noailles Murfree. Topics addressed include nineteenth-century women as authors, the influence of northern literary magazines on regional writing, the image of the Appalachian woman in fiction, and the critical evaluation of primary texts. Original work required for the completion of a master’s thesis comes by way of a thirty-page analytical introduction, six biographical headnote entries, and an extended bibliography of primary works by Appalachian women writers.

Rosípalová, Petra January 2014 (has links)
The diploma thesis "The Anthology of National Geography and History North Moravia" is handling the issue of publishing this book title which is a significant representative of its kind. Anthologies of National Geography and History have a unique position among other printed documents. And in addition, the anthology North Moravia is, as the only one of its kind, published in the whole Czech Republic almost continuously from 1957 when the museums of Zábřeh, Mohelnice and Loštice started to publish it together. The diploma thesis presents the anthology, introduces its 50 years history, characteristics of this type of a journal. It is going to refer to the specifics which differentiate the anthology from other journals. The thesis includes a quantitative research, in the form of a content analysis which examines the content of the anthology in the course of 50 years. The thesis follows processed topics, regular columns, types of contributions and development of the anthology in the mentioned period.
