Independent Piano Teachers: An Investigation of Their Attitudes toward Selected Attributes of ProfessionCrane, Joyce L. (Joyce Lydia) 05 1900 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to investigate independent piano teachers' view of themselves in the light of selected attributes found in sociological writings on the professions. The research problems were: (a) to determine the attitudes which independent piano teachers held toward selected professional attributes; (b) to determine the relationship between the attitudes toward the professional attributes and selected background variables; and (c) to determine the degree of association between these attributes. The problems were addressed by a questionnaire directed to independent piano teachers active in the area of Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas. Thirty teachers were also interviewed to determine consistency of response and to explore issues which the questionnaire had raised. Reliability and validity were established at acceptable levels. Techniques of statistical analysis included Pearson's product-moment correlation, multiple regression, chi-square in conjunction with Cramer's V_, and factor analysis. The strongest attitudes expressed by the teachers in the study concerned professional self-image, altruism, client orientation, commitment to work, and independence. The most important background variables were age, years of experience, number of students, certification by a professional association, and college degree in music. A multiple regression analysis tested each variable against the dependent variable professional self-image; recognition by others, commitment to work, client orientation, and qualification were found to account for 25% of the common variance. A factor analysis was also conducted to seek out patterns of attitudes among the attributes being studied; seven factors were identified among the subjects' belief systems as Professional Actions, Satisfaction, Quality Control, Professionalism, Compliance, Autonomy, and Focus on Student. These factors accounted for almost half of the total variance in the data. The study concluded that: (a) independent piano teaching was a female-dominated, subsidized occupation, and (b) the piano teachers' professional self-image seemed to be an evaluation of themselves and their work, rather than the use of profession as a definable goal for which to strive.

Success Factors of Swedish Sequential Gazelle Companies : A study on differentiating firm attributes and the significance of using external professional business servicesIngolfsdotter, Hanna, Viklund, Sofia January 2017 (has links)
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are big contributors to today’s business environment and the society as a whole, and their contributions are highly valued. Gazelle companies can be seen as the most successful SMEs and hence the interest to analyze them. Far from all companies succeed to maintain a profitable growth and recieve the Gazelle title sequential times. Due to this, this research aims to answer the question what differentiates sequential Gazelle companies from one time Gazelle companies. In Sweden, the Gazelle title is announced to companies who fulfill certain criteria, meaning that they are homogenous in many ways. However, there must be some differences since some succeed to maintain the title whereas others do not. By the following research question, this research intends to identify some of these differentiating attributes. Is there a difference between sequential Gazelle companies and one time Gazelle companies regarding the chosen firm attributes? Existing research show that one common factor behind maintained profitable growth is the ability to ask for help in fields where management competence is lacking. It is argued that this help can be in form of external professional business services and hence this research intends to answer this second research question: Do usage of external professional business services contribute to sequential Gazelle title? Since the ability to maintain profitable growth is discussed to depend on internal competence and knowledge, or lack thereof, Resource-Based Theory is found to be an appropriate explanation tool. This theory is supported by the Stages of Growth model to further explain the development of the firms. This research had a quantitative method where a survey was used to collect data. In order to accept/reject the formed hypotheses, the data was imported to SPSS where it was statistically tested in two separate logistic regressions. The results of this research statistically show that the mixture of the included firm attributes do differ between sequential Gazelle companies and one time Gazelle companies. However, the test proved nonsignificant when examining the usage of external professional services. This means that even though there were indications of high importance, one cannot statistically argue that usage of external professional business services leads to sequential Gazelle title.

Data Quality Model for Machine LearningNitesh Varma Rudraraju, Nitesh, Varun Boyanapally, Varun January 2019 (has links)
Context: - Machine learning is a part of artificial intelligence, this area is now continuously growing day by day. Most internet related services such as Social media service, Email Spam, E-commerce sites, Search engines are now using machine learning. The Quality of machine learning output relies on the input data, so the input data is crucial for machine learning and good quality of input data can give a better outcome to the machine learning system. In order to achieve quality data, a data scientist can use a data quality model on data of machine learning. Data quality model can help data scientists to monitor and control the input data of machine learning. But there is no considerable amount of research done on data quality attributes and data quality model for machine learning. Objectives: - The primary objectives of this paper are to find and understand the state-of-art and state-of-practice on data quality attributes for machine learning, and to develop a data quality model for machine learning in collaboration with data scientists. Methods: - This paper mainly consists of two studies: - 1) Conducted a literature review in the different database in order to identify literature on data quality attributes and data quality model for machine learning. 2) An in-depth interview study was conducted to allow a better understanding and verifying of data quality attributes that we identified from our literature review study, this process is carried out with the collaboration of data scientists from multiple locations. Totally of 15 interviews were performed and based on the results we proposed a data quality model based on these interviewees perspective. Result: - We identified 16 data quality attributes as important from our study which is based on the perspective of experienced data scientists who were interviewed in this study. With these selected data quality attributes, we proposed a data quality model with which quality of data for machine learning can be monitored and improved by data scientists, and effects of these data quality attributes on machine learning have also been stated. Conclusion: - This study signifies the importance of quality of data, for which we proposed a data quality model for machine learning based on the industrial experiences of a data scientist. This research gap is a benefit to all machine learning practitioners and data scientists who intended to identify quality data for machine learning. In order to prove that data quality attributes in the data quality model are important, a further experiment can be conducted, which is proposed in future work.

comportamento do
consumidor de cenoura Baby no Brasil estimulou a realização
deste estudo
do consumidor.
Mais especificamente, ele busca revelar as percepções e
atitudes do consumidor
Comum. Diferentemente desta última, que é altamente
acessível a todas as classes
[en] There is no information available about Baby carrot consumer
behavior in
Brazil. This exploratory study aims to identify issues
related to individual
differences that build a consumer behavior model.
Specifically, the goals of this
study are to reveal the consumers´ perceptions and attitudes
related to Baby
carrot; the reasons that guide their choice or rejection;
and the reasons which limit
their consumption. Data were collected through personal
interviews, personal
observation and focus groups, and assessed using the
multi-attributes Fishbein and
Point Ideal models. The results suggest a favorable attitude
regarding Baby carrot,
but the preference is for the common carrot, which is highly
accessible to all
social classes due to its high availability and low price.
Baby carrot is affordable
to consumers with higher purchase power. It is perceived as
a sophisticated
product, and it is consumed only in special occasions. Among
the various
hypotheses and assumptions which may be formulated based on
this study, it is
recommended to test whether Baby carrot is, in fact, more
palatable than the
common carrot and if is really attractive to children. The
results of this suggested
study may suggest changes in strategy for market positioning
in order to meet the
public needs, including children, and thus increase market
share of Baby carrot.

Primeira aproximação da biblioteca espectral de solos do Brasil: caracterização de espectros de solos e quantificação de atributos / First approach of Brazilian soil spectral library: soil spectral characterization and quantification of attributesSato, Marcus Vinicius 15 July 2015 (has links)
Brazil is a significant country in food production and to improve efficiency of agriculture is necessary to be planned. Soil is the basis for agriculture, which is relevant for food safety and environmental issues. Mapping and soil management are strategies for planned agriculture and can be assisted by remote sensing. Spectroscopy techniques are faster, less honorable and less polluting when compared to traditional methods. Soils Spectral Library (SSL) composes a diverse and varied database with soil spectra information. Through SSL soil types can be characterize and soil attributes estimated. SSL besides contribute to the soil survey, mapping and soil management it can support precision agriculture, soil attribute modeling, soil contaminated monitoring, communication between the soil scientists and soil conservation. There are SSL worldwide with soil samples from continents, such as Australia, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, but there are few Brazilian samples representative. Thus, the objectives of this study were first to create a Brazilian Soil Spectral Library (BSSB), second to characterize soil spectra of BESB soil classes and finally to quantify soil properties (clay and sand). The BSSL bank received samples from 17 collaborators and institutions from various Brazilian states, including Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Goiás, Maranhão, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará, Paraíba, Pará, Roraima, Amazonas and Distrito Federal. The Spectral Library has 19,537 soil samples from auger and profiles. Spectra of several Brazilian soil classes were characterized. Soil profiles and their horizons had their representative spectra characterized with multi-depth analysis. Quantification model of soil attributes was based on partial least squares regression (PLSR). Prediction models were obtained to quantify clay (calibration R2 = 0,82; RMSE = 46,75 g/kg, validaçãp R2 = 0,83 ; RMSE = 46,75 g/kg; RPD = 4,57) and sand (calibration R2 = 0,81; RMSE = 60,9 g/kg, validação R2 = 0,79, RMSE = 60,85 g/kg; RPD = 4,16). In addition, we distinguish different soil classes by Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Organossolos, Latossolos, Argissolos and Nitossolos were well separated. BESB assembly assisted to establish spectral patterns of land and it could improve advancing attributes techniques measurement.

To better understands this phenomenon, it is necessary to consider the spatial variation of this variable, as well as the attributes of the soil, considering the type of agricultural land use and management. The present study objective of characterizing the spatial anisotropy of FCO2 and other soil physical and chemical attributes, through the fractal dimension (DF), in Cerrado region, Mato Grosso do Sul. For the study of anisotropy and maps generation of spatial patterns, a regular sample consisting of 102 points in both areas was used. To FCO2 anisotropy values of DF were observed for 2.51 ± 0.41 for sugarcane and 2.61 ± 0.18 for eucalyptus areas. DF of FCO2 and other soil attributes studied through the rose graphics showed that the FCO2 presents spatial variation associated with different soil chemical and physical attributes. Precision and accuracy gains were observed when comparing spatial patterns generated from isotropic and anisotropic modeling for FCO2, soil organic matter (MO) and soil density (Ds) in the two study areas, as indicated by cross-validation, with values of determination coefficient varying between 0.82 and 0.99 for sugarcane and 0.94 and 0.98 for eucalyptus areas. The spatial pattern indicated that the spatial variability of FCO2, soil organic matter (MO) and soil density (Ds) that obtained gains in the two stud...
