Multimedia, Mixed-Media, and Intermedia: Their Utilization in the Oral Interpretation of Literature

Hurdis, Sara M. 08 1900 (has links)
This study deals with the use of media in oral interpretation performances. The modes of media performance which are defined and examined are multimedia, mixed-media, and intermedia. Multimedia uses media devices exclusively; mixed-media employs media and live performers; intermedia utilizes media to create an environment in which the performer, literature, and audience participate to form an experience. These modes of media performance are analyzed and then related to oral interpretation. The advantages and disadvantages of incorporating media into oral interpretation are examined, and theoretical statements are made regarding the use of media in oral interpretation performances.

Performance Space for Niche and Emerging Artists

Hutchison, Bradford S 01 January 2012 (has links) (PDF)
While large performance spaces fulfill important cultural, civic, architectural and artistic needs, few performing artists begin their careers playing in large halls. As in professional sports, the “minor leagues” play a critical role for professional performing artists by allowing them to both reach out to new audiences and hone their performance skills. Niche and emerging performing artists, therefore, rely on small performance spaces as their principal means exercising their craft. In addition to size, one important difference between large and small performance spaces is the criticality of the social experience. Small performance spaces are often informal, with entertainment being secondary to social functions - as in the case of the neighborhood coffee house, bar or restaurant that offers periodic performances in addition to their standard fare. The hybridization of social and performance functions offers a “ready-made” audience for niche and emerging performing artists, engendering the new and random audience-performer connections that are so critical to nurturing performing artists and the performing arts in general. The disparate social and attentive programmatic functions of these hybrid spaces offer a challenge to architects and designers. Providing a hybrid social/performance space that is optimized for niche and emerging performing artists is the central design problem that this thesis seeks to address.

The effects of mode of instruction and media of presentation as related to imageability and verbal ability.

Marantz, Steven M. 01 January 1973 (has links) (PDF)
The present study is concerned with two related but independent problems. First, the study investigates the effects of movie and lecture modes of instruction on factual recall as related to verbal ability and Hidden Figures test scores. Secondly, the study investigates factual recall from film and video media of presentation as related to verbal ability. To investigate these problems jointly, each of mode of instruction, movie and lecture, was recorded both on film and video media.

Untersuchung der Erfolgsfaktoren fest installierter immersiv-audiovisueller Projektionen in Kunstmuseen

Fritsche, Julia Carlotta 22 August 2022 (has links)
The perspectives of the visitors as well as those of the implementers are examined more closely. The content of this projection can be classical paintings or digital artworks, which are projected in a 360° constellation in space. First of all, the economic view of art museums and exhibitions is treated as well as immersive audio-visual projections. This is followed by an examination of classical success factor research and the success factors of art exhibitions. On the basis of this theoretical foundation, the author develops a potential success factor model, which will be tested in a practical investigation by means of a direct, methodically and materially supported determination. For this purpose, user comments on an online evaluation page on the topic of immersive audiovisual projections are first analysed, followed by a visitor survey in an art museum, which is offered by an IAP. Based on two expert interviews, the potential implementation-related success factors are examined. The author of this work was able to crystallize four visitor-related main success factors and 25 associated success factors. On the implementer-related side, there are ten main success factors and 27 associated success factors. The success factor model is based on the endeavour to achieve cultural-political and economic goals. On the basis of these success factors, action-orientated recommendations are derived, which in the context of this work are addressed primarily to the implementers of an IAP, such as art museums, their employees or artists’ collectives.:I Theoretischer Teil 1 Einleitung 1.1 Ausgangspunkt und Motivation 1.2 Zielsetzung, Fragestellungen und Abgrenzung 1.3 Methodik und Aufbau der Arbeit 2 Das Kunstmuseum: zwischen Kunst und Ökonomie 2.1 Notwendigkeit des ökonomischen Blicks auf Kunstmuseen 2.2 Der ökonomische Blick auf Kunstmuseen 2.3 Ausstellungen und ihr Management 3 Immersiv-audiovisuelle Projektionen 3.1 Die Rolle der digitalen Medien in Museen 3.2 Immersion 3.3 Bedeutung immersiver Projektionsräume für Kunstmuseen 3.4 Umsetzung einer immersiv-audiovisuellen Projektion 3.5 Anbieter fest installierter IAPs in Kunstmuseen 4 Erfolgsfaktorenforschung 4.1 Die klassische Erfolgsfaktorenforschung 4.2 Erfolg von Kunstausstellungen 5 Entwicklung eines theoretischen Erfolgsfaktorenmodells für IAP 5.1 Transponierung der Erfolgsfaktoren 5.2 Potenzielle Hierarchisierung 5.3 Theoretisches Erfolgsfaktorenmodell II Praktischer Teil 6 Methodik und Vorgehensweise 6.1 Forschungsfragen und Thesen 6.2 Methodik und Durchführung 7 Ergebnisse der Untersuchung 7.1 Analyse der Bewertungswebseite 7.2 Besucherbefragung 7.3 Experteninterviews 7.4 Zusammenfassung 8 Diskussion 8.1 Bewertung der Methodik und Limitationen 8.2 Bewertung der Ergebnisse 8.3 Implikationen für zukünftige Arbeiten 9 Handlungsempfehlungen 10 Fazit 11 Ausblick
