Melbourne is making a concerted bid to obtain the centenary 1996 Olympic Games. While much of its bid is occupied with explanations of the city’s ability to meet the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) requirements, it is underpinned by a common theme that the city possesses a unique quality of “Friendliness”.

Molin, Tove, Hasanzadehhaddad, Daniel January 2018 (has links)

After the dismantling of the Brazilian defense industry in the 1990s, the governments of Lula and Dilma launched several initiatives to revitalize the military-productive sector. In addition to government procurement programs that aimed to produce a "demand shock", one of the most important initiatives to facilitate the process of revitalization of the Brazilian Defense Industrial Base was the expansion of foreign markets to the arms made in Brazil, ie, the reintegration of Brazilian arms industry in the concentrated global market of defense products. Because of the insufficient and erratic domestic demand, the reorganization of the military industry, therefore, depends on the support provided by the Government for arms exports, which can produce certain consequences in Brazilian foreign policy. The objective of this work is to examine the Brazilian policy on arms exports in the context of the revitalization of the Defense Industrial Base, understanding it both in its dimension of export control system (the National Policy of Arms Sales, PNEMEM) and in government initiatives of trade promotion.

The political-discursive project of capitalist expansion and modernization put into practice by global financial institutions, such as the International Monetary Fund-IMF, World Bank-, and other regional development banks. They have influenced not only the management of public resources but, above all, the political economy of development and i underdevelopment. In this context, the thesis covers the historical dialogues between the meaning and the geography of money from the perspective of the cultural heritage development projects put in place by the Inter-American Development Bank-IDB in the period 1960-2010. The essential crux of the analysis is the IDB's policy for financing cultural heritage, far from being a mere technical and financial instrument in the context of globalization, is neither culturally nor politically neutral. In this genealogy, it addresses the trajectory of discursive practices and the geography of capital flows and an evidences of this course in the recovery of the historic quarters of Valparaíso in Chile and the financial engineering of the MONUMENTA Program in Brazil. From the concepts of hegemony and political economics, a theoretical tradition takes place between capital, time and space, and which is based on description-discursive, geographical and historical-as a process of production of senses and meanings. Within this perspective approaches concepts such as discourse, politics, power and memory that would be forms of production that are active in development projects. On the whole, he research highlights a revision of the cultural heritage-developmental ideology as necessary in the direction of a new 'grammar' and practice t closer to the social, cultural and economic life of cultural assets and their populations. Research on the Liquidity of China Treasury Futures Market

January 2016 (has links)
abstract: Given the "New Nine Measures" for capital market reform, a policy document issued by the State Council of China, the development of markets for interest rate derivatives, such as treasury futures, becomes an increasingly important task. Several shortcomings of the existing treasury futures market have been noted: including low market liquidity, singular investor composition, restrict contract terms, and low hedging demand. This study contributes to a better understanding of the treasury futures market by analyzing changes in China treasury futures market regulations and their impact on market liquidity of treasury futures. Found that compared with the mature market, China treasury futures market exists liquidity shortage, the trading system, market structure and the division of regulatory are factors which influence the liquidity of China treasury futures market. This study found that reducing transaction costs for further optimization of the width and depth of China treasury futures market are not obvious by using quantitative analysis method, expanding the smallest change price can optimize the market depth, reducing transaction costs and expanding smallest change price can optimize the immediacy, volume and hosting amount. In addition, the bond market will also influence the treasury futures market, the price fluctuations and the morphology of the yield curve of bond market have significant influence on width, depth and holdings of market. The system of China treasury futures market needs to be optimized by expanding the smallest change price and reducing transaction costs. The market structure needs to be optimized by establishing unified bond market and enriching investor structure. These findings have significant theoretical and practical implications. The study also provides policy recommendations for the design and establishment of treasury futures market to the regulatory agencies. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Business Administration 2016
